Hello , Mr Speedbuff below raises THE question about these old dry disc brake systems , I found that if you don,t set the adjusting nut too tight on reassembly then although there is some travel on the pedals when you brake , they don,t lock up , I set mine at 2 and 1/3 turns ( 14 flats on nut ) OFF from a position whereby I can , on grabbing the tyre lugs from underneath with one hand , just support my weight pulling on the tyre without the tyre / wheel turning at all . Do this with an old dead slave cylinder fixed in place so as to hold the operating linkage in the right spot first , using 3/8" drive socketry with a 3/4 deep nut socket on the busy end . Here I am talking about the Q- cabbed tractors , it,s difficult to get at the brakes on these , with the cab still on , except from the sides , with the end plate unbolted . Really you,ve just got to carefully try it around the yard & see , before venturing much further . Montegoson may know more than me , Happy Spanners .
What effect does the loose springs have on brake operation? Are they what cause the brakes to lock on an not return to off position ?It looked like it was difficult to video tape with one hand and put the brake back together with the other hand!
MrSpeedbuff Tired springs makes brake to On- Off type, and they will not release before speed was zero and maby need little too take rev move, before releasing, if u have drive front before braking.....
