I really love the all-encompassing underwear ones too! Perfect for overnight! I've honestly taken to wearing mens knit boxers (comfort AND breathability? Heck yes) but always have to switch during the super not fun time that is menstruation because my pads can't decide if they want to work with those or not. Tampons always kinda weirded me out and I don't use them.
I understand how you feel. I once thought like that. It took me years until I tried them and it was difficult at first, but once I got the hang of it, I'd never go back to pads. I've also got into using a cup a fews years ago (also took a few months of trial and error) and it's even better than tampons. Obviosly, if you don't ever want to use them, that's fine, too.
@@Julia-sh6tc I was 18 the first time I tried them. Don't worry, if you try them. There is no way for them to get stuck inside, there is nowhere they can go. First timers also tend to not put them deep enough because of this fear, but then they will feel uncomfortable. In the unlikely event that the string would snap (this has never happened to me and I used them for over ten years and still do occasionally), it still won't disappear anywhere. You can still get it out with your fingers. This can be difficult, but never impossible! I once had to use an hour to get a cup out because it had shifted pretty high during the night. I got really frustrated and even gave up for a bit. Which turns out is what I should have done in the first place because once I relaxed and was up and about for a bit it naturally moved lower and came out easily when I squatted down.
They also make the packaging so that it won't make any noise because many women find it embarrassing that others can hear the pad tabs being opened. I love the Japanese brands because they are considerate.
As someone who has HEAVY flow due to chronic conditions, tampons AND pads are a must for me to ensure max comfort 😭 most women are tampons vs pads nah I’m both 🥲
Menstrual cups!! Yes!!!! Can't rec enough. Life changer for me, and I have a light flow! No need for Diva (though, that was my first). So many options. I use MeLuna (German, medical grade silicone) and FemmyCycle Cup, which is expensive, but fantastic if you end up having a leakage issue. Give them a go! 😃
Not only in Japan, but generally in Asia, it's not really common to use tampons. Personally, I already tried it because it's cheaper, but I don't feel comfortable, and it's rather painful. For me, pads are easier to use.
@@allybearbearIf they bunch up then it's not a really decent brand or it's not properly in place. Pads nowadays have odour control but of course if someone is wearing a pad the whole day without changing it...Well it's gonna smell bad! 🤨
I use both for the heavy days, the pad as an overflow. I dislike the feeling of sitting in damp puddle of blood, even though the pads are absorbent these days, but you still can feel it when it's a lot.
I used adult diaper underwear on bad days. They work so much better and are more comfortable. You don't have to worry about overflow or the pad bunching up. Especially at night. You will sleep so much better and be more comfortable.😊
I like that when I feel that, I know it's time to hit the bathroom. I know people who wear tampons can forget about them. Pads will let you know when it's time to go change it and problem solved
Those pads are even bigger than the biggest ones that we have here. I would definitely like to have some of those in their top capacity. For comfort and peace of mind that it will not slip up.
I use both, the Japanese ones plus the thin Always or other brands types and they do the job the same. They don't slip up either. The only difference is that if you couldn't change it for a time longer than usual the Japanese pad will be safer. But these are exceptional situations.
I feel like I’m wearing a diaper with those big absorbent pads. Even though people probably can’t, I worry people will see the outline through my pants or hear the crinkle while I walk. I greatly prefer a tampon with a panty liner in case of leaks.
I am forgetful and I ended up with a tampon inside me for a good 3 weeks and I was wondering why I suddenly have constant headaches and body pains and sudden migraines. Oh right toxic shock. After that it's a no no for me

I first wore a tampon when i was going swimming and the boom -red days- and realised i could be comfortable with my period like that. Jsut diligently changing them every few hours and everything was fine. No more unconfortableness for me anymore during those days.
@@tarynb.3691doesnt matter how organic it is perfumes dont belong around there. Scented soap doesnt even belong near there, only unscented antibacterial soap. Its an ecosystem not a room in need of air freshener
@@cyagami90Not following. Why on earth would you use antibacterial soap when that's barely good for your hands? The skin has its own biome. Stripping it is much more likely to cause infection than putting something near (not inside) the vagina that is additive.
I think your info is inaccurate, as a Japanese woman myself, I have no problem using Tampon at all, though maybe they will be very embarrassed to tell others that they use it.
Whoever says tampons are painful/ uncomfortable, you're not using them right. You should not feel the tampon at all, it's like it's not even there when you wear it, that's the entire point of it. I never got an infection from tampons, but I got plenty from pads in summer when it gets hot. Changing them every hour doesn't help because things can't breathe down there.
Everyone has their preference, of course but introducing something foreign in your vagina just don't sit right to me. Also, if you usually get infections from pads you're either prone to that or you're not using them correctly. Again, every woman/girl is different
@reneeroesler9944 UTIs from pads can happen if they get too damp (for example, due to sweat in summer, like OP said) AND if you wear them for long periods of time. This can happen at work or when you travel a lot if you don't have many opportunities to go to the bathroom to change the pad. When I know I'm going on a long trip during hot days while on my period, I'll always use tampons instead of pads too. You shouldn't wear a tampon for longer than 8 hours at a time, but I'm lucky that I've never been in the situation of travelling for more than 8 hours while on my period.
I got toxic shock from using a tampon in high school. All because I wanted to wear yoga pants and not have panty lines… Haven’t worn tampons since 😅 comfort over everything 😂
How long did you leave it in? I couldn't wear a tampon until I lost my virginity at 23 when I got married. Never before, so a teen is probably not responsible/knowledgeable enough to handle tampons. I also only use organic tampons even now and pads. Can't imagine wearing a tampons without a pad on my flow and by the time my flow is light, I switch to just pads.
Yesss!! A lot of girls in my American public middle and high school also used tampons- but I agree comfort first!! Some Japanese pads are soooo soft and comfy it’s like a cloud! ☁️

Anyone who has ever had a period will know what I mean when I say jellyfish. At night the panties work well, but during the day, one sneeze or lifting something heavy and it's a SpongeBob episode going on in your pants.
I’m 15-16 and I use tampons and pads. I find tampons especially useful for swimming and sport (I dance). I had an experience when I used period swimmers for swimming and when I got out bloody water just dripped from the pants 🤦♀️
That's so odd. I used to use tampons for swimming, but then realized that women don't bleed when they are immersed in water. Swimming, even bathing. You start again soon after you're out, but I never used tampons again once I discovered that.
@@saintejeannedarc9460 that's definitely unique to some women, not all, because the amount of rushing flow that I experience during bathing complete with the humongous clots clearly opposes this assertion
@@onalennamotlhako6470 I guess it is different for women w/ very heavy flows. I had a heavier one when I was younger, but was never a gusher. I did get some clotting, but I think most women do. Flow got lighter as I got older. I was at least my 30's when I heard that women generally stop bleeding when in water and tested it out. Worked for me, and I found I had maybe up to a half hour window before it started again. For me it was the neatest realization. So I can only recommend for women that swim often, you can test it out w/ the bath to see if it works for you.
@@saintejeannedarc9460 that's not true, your blood is just getting diluted by the water so you think it's not happening. Please don't subject other swimmers to your bodily fluids.
It's interesting to see how culture affects what should be one's personal preference? I mean look at all the variety in some of these stores, they are literally meant for a wide variety of different body types and different flows or other factors affecting one's period. My mom was raised very religious and tampon use was definitely looked down upon.
@@allytrudie864I'm definitely aware of that. I'm not sure you did the conversion correctly lol. A thing of cheap pads(at least where I live in the usa) is going to cost approximately 5 USD. That is 775 yen give or take. I was seeing pads there for under 300 yen. Making it substantially cheaper. If you start moving into the more substantial pads, the price difference becomes even more apparent. Just out of curiosity. When was the last time you were able to buy a package of pads(not singles) for under 2 usd? Because I have never been able to. There are multiple packages being sold for under 2 usd in this video.
I'm 72 and I always used tampons ( obviously not now ) but I never regretted it and found them comfortable better than using what I felt like a saddle between my legs 😅
The pads now are very thin, effective and have greay coverage. You barely realize your wearing them better than inserting something inside ur body that could cause toxic shock syndrome.
As a girl with sensory issues ( I’m autistic) tampons have been my life saver. Less leaks and I don’t feel it but I will use pads along with tampons sometimes for extra safety
If you do the tampon + pad, you might consider period panties instead of a pad. There’s a few different brands, even Hanes has a version of them. They look and feel just like regular underwear, but there’s an absorbent layer in the crotch. They are amazingly great as a leak prevention backup to a tampon or menstrual cup.
YOOO THEY JUST LIKE ME FR, honestly hate n kinda scary if i can die from a tampon, n the pad, nope, just a lil messy n a bit uncomfortable depending on pants or shorts i wear, but they're pretty cool for just pads
As a trans woman I do not like using tampons either. I tend to sleep with pads just in case I have a flow. So far I haven't, but, you never know. All of us women need to stick together. Girl Power.
bro just to show how sad things are: I posted a comment about prefering tampons bc if they are put in the correct way and you dont have other problems its more comfortable and easier to clean.. and I got attacked bc apparently people who prefer tampons want something up them and pad girlies dont have that desire. We are still in the 1800s I guess, the worst part was.. women acting like haters. We are supposed to be here for each other.
That's so stupid of them. I've used tampons for years. They are clean and don't restrict your movement. You're not supposed to be able to feel them. And how can anyone but a fetishist see anything kinky about any kind of feminine hygiene product? Weirdos.
There is no sensation after it is inserted. What silliness to say some girls want something put up them. Sounds like a superstition. Decades ago as a youngster I was told if I used one I would no longer be a virgin. Same thing.
Thank you! It’s so weird that people judge tampon wearers. You barely feel it inside because it’s literally so small. Pads cause labia bumps and acne for me due to the moisture so I don’t see how it’s comfortable but you do you.

I hated pads , I have/had endometriosis which meant every month was hell and heavy, I ditched the pads and started using adult pull-ups best move I ever did, I use to use pads the rest of the time for Incontinence the rest of the time but just stuck with the pull-ups in the end about 20 plus years ago as it was just simpler and safer. Thankfully menopause fixed that issue for me 9 years ago. I tried tampons once but kept running to the ladies every 10-15 minutes because it felt wrong, even though I had the pad on for Incontinence I just felt so out of sorts. Then that week it was reported a woman died from using bleached tampons back in the 80’s the chemicals sent her body into toxic shock. I never used tampons ever again after that report. It’s a shame we don’t have those brands here in Australia I know many women who would love using many of those brands in a heartbeat.
I spent a week in Japan 3 weeks ago and before we left my country, I was already on my period. On our first night there, I decided to buy pads coz I was sure the pack I bought wasn't gonna last long. My cousin and I went to a 7-11 store and I bought a pack of pads. I didn't bother translating it thinking it was similar to our "night-use" pads. When we got back to the hotel, I used one and was shocked by the size and length of the pad. I decided to use it over the ones I brought. Before we went home, I decided to buy some. 🤣 It was the 42 cm kind of pads.
I use to use adult Incontinence pull-ups for my monthly cycle, the last 15-20 years before I hit menopause I got really heavy due to the endometriosis and standard pads or even the extra thick pads were like using a Band-Aid on a severed finger. I found the incontinence pull-ups worked fantastic and for the first time I got a good nights sleep when using them. If I was having a really bad time I added extra pads to the left and right of the centre and that worked like internal wings, those days I did not step outside of the house until it stopped. I think the manufacturers have no idea what women really want.
@@vanlifebae It depends on the individual. For me, the tampon string irritates the vaginal opening. I can never get it comfy, and due to my anatomy it often leaks. I end up having to wear a pad with it which kind of defeats the purpose. To each their own, truly.
Both are really nice. I used tampons since had first gotten my period at 12, then later switched to a menstrual cup when I was 21-22 (I’m 25 rn) By far the cup has been of stellar usage to me. Like any menstruation cup tho it does take a couple try’s to get used to, but honestly if you already used to tampons, cups are pretty easy to adjust to. And anybody curious about how to clean a cup inbetween uses, especially during public rr, my advice is to carry wipes or tissue packets. Just a quick wipe inside n out, go about your day then clean it out with water once you home. I mean most of us already carry handbags/purses/ backpacks frequently to work and/ or school, so having a small toiletry bag isn’t too much of a hassle. Plus I get to have a lil more extra more room in my bag now that I don’t have to carry a days worth of pads n tampons😂 Then again I’m the eldest daughter in my family and my sisters got used to me having every essential with me, so I’m still usually caring menstruation products with me just for them. Or sometimes for those rare one-time instances when a stranger asks if you got one on you in the rr 😅😭😭

Every female should use what they're comfortable with both have their pros and cons, although ever since my period started I'm a pad user cause that's more of what I see female around me use here. I'm more comfortable with Pads though everyone can use their own choice. But our XL pads are also small compare to theirs lol💀😭
To be honest either way is okay but personally I really prefer a tampon if I'm going to exercise. If you're doing push-ups or sit-ups you'll need to change your pad after every single one! It drives me insane. I would rather use the tampon and be able to forget about it for a little while. It's a relief for me not to worry I will just twist and have a major leak in front of everybody O////O
Post-delivery, if you ever have a baby. That was rough for me, since I had always used tampons. At least it was only temporary, lol. But I felt kind of icky.
I think it's great that they have a big selection of alternatives, but the fact that the REASON women aren't supposed to wear tampons is about modesty (??) based on what you said is super misogynistic. "Introducing something foreign inside is unacceptable"... that's such a weird and judgemental mindset... women should just be allowed to use whatever feels best to them without any judgement.
You used to be able to buy maternity pads in the stores. They are huge, thick and awesome. Then they stopped selling them probably because they make more money by making you change out every.2 hours. I would bet somewhere online you could find the maternity pads. Just a thought.
Lots of people don't realize that Japan is definitely behind on some aspects. They are heavily racist and some bars only allow Japanese inside, and will deliberately turn away non-Japanese. I suppose every country has its issues that need to be resolved!
It's not necessarily "issues" surrounding periods itself ( depending on a case by case situation), some people just aren't comfortable talking about something so personal and private. Which is understandable. Periods are normal just like excretion, pregnancy, sex, and what have you. But not everyone WANTS to have to talk openly about those things, nor have a conversation about them which is fine. Even though I'm comfortable discussing periods in terms of facts or tips/help, I'm NOT at all comfortable hearing others be super descriptive about their periods. There is such a thing as TMI, and a lot of people just would rather not have to hear it or think about it. They'd rather discuss the nitty gritty with professionals. Normalising periods doesn't or shouldn't mean normalising oversharing or creating discomfort for people who just wish to not engage with such a personal conversation.
@@creepy.bstanbtsbtw i definitely agree about not being ok with getting way too descriptive (as in graphic detail). But one thing is i wouldn’t put period in the same bucket as sex. Sex is a choice and a matter of private life. Period on the other hand is just a regular bodily function that affects your entire week. Knowing about stuff like pad usage should be normalised imo
I'm european and where I live tampons are socially accepted and widely used, if not used more commonly than pads. I myself only wear tampons for swimming if I really need them. My flow is usually on the lighter side so tampons are kinda uncomfortable and I hate putting them inside and taking them out, even if in between tampons might be the easier and more comfortable option, I prefer pads.
Also bcs it's so uncomfortable to change so often some people might not change as often as they should and I've heard horror stories Abt how you can get sick by using tampons
Why the hell would anybody go swimming on their period what the fuck is your problem........... That is utterly disgusting...... Nobody wants to swim around someone's period blood..

@@ClaudiaM-om4emTrue, in a way. Obviously "foreign object put inside" is not actually anti-Japanese. The person who made this video made that up. However, I do think it's weird and probably less healthy to have cotton plugs in there, chemically treated cotton no less, for that many hours of a woman's life. Tampons scared me too much until my late teens because yeah it's uncomfortable, and then only started using them because I found out about applicators and because I didn't want to have to wear super thick pads changing them every hour and wearing baggy pants. My mother makes fun of me for using them but honestly, I'd rather not wake up in the middle of the night with a giant stain on my mattress. And they're very useful for sports as well. I'm a runner, so not having to worry about a pad that's getting out of place or something leaking is truly a blessing. Another reason why I should live in Japan.
Me as a girl that don't use tampons not because of losing that , that's just a stupid thing to think of , I asked my mum she said no you don't lose it , tampons is just uncomfortable to use , so I use pads the most and I'm happy that the pads in Japan is long and huge
I have also never tried tampons or cups. I am comfortable using sanitary pads of high quality. I feel very scared of putting anything foreign inside my body. I just feel discomfort thinking about it 😅
Very valid! Having tried both as a smaller woman and having talked to friends about their experiences, they *can* be uncomfortable. You have to experiment to find what works for you which, especially in the case of the cups, can get expensive and as someone with a heavy period the tampons that are comfortable just don't hold up to my flow. (Definitely jealous of how big some of those jp pads are omg.)
Not just the Japanese. Most Asians in Asia as well. There is more variety in pads. Japanese pads are also comfy, thicker and more leak proof because they provide more coverage. I also find them cheaper in Asia as well. Tampons is mostly used in the west.
Definitely. I gave up on tampons early on and gave the silicone cup a go for about a year but found emptying them too messy and have been with pads for about 20 years. Have to use Bodyform and never scented. The Always brand literally gave me a kind of nappy rash - their top layer feels very plasticy compared to Bodyform - their Goodnight Ultra X-Large have been a game changer for the heavier times - largest I've found to date - I still lay a towel down over my bedding though - the hassle of having to wash bedding due to leaks - GARGH! :-) The joys of womanhood, eh?!

The only option I was provided with when I got my first period aged 9, was large thick pink kotex pads. As I got older and Ireland started to wake up to the smotheringly oppressive presence if the church, I started feeling "rebellious" and bought a box of Tampax (I was around 13/14). I came home from school to find my room had been ransacked and my tampons gone. My mother had burned them in the fire. I may as well have lost my virginity..my only saving grace was they were unopened lol . Strange times

It probably is a comfort and physiological difference thing rather than anything else, because as an east Asian woman, tampons (even the lightest and smallest ones) actually hurt a lot when I'm not experiencing terribly heavy, anemia inducing flow, which is most of the time. And it is this way with every other Asian woman I've spoken to about this as well. So yeah, pain and discomfort generally makes people not want to use the product that causes said pain and discomfort.

Tampons can only cause infections if you don't change them regularly and don't wash yourself properly. Also make sure your hands are clean when you insert them.
Well they're not sterile either, even right out of the package. They are only as sterile as the worker's gloves, and air, and surfaces at the assembly line.
I used a tampon when I was 17 because I wanted to go swimming in the beach with my family but was in my period. I haven’t looked back since. Forgetting it's there is also a potential problem FYI: People have had serious problems (even fatalities) from forgetting their tampon and developing toxic shock syndrome.
I agree 💯 I love tampons, n I always felt gross and weird sitting on a pad, feeling like a diaper or mattress!!! No thanks, maybe a night time pad with a tampon on horrible nights!
I can't stand pads. I can feel the blood coming out and i hate it. They get moist and they show on most of my pants, they move around when I do and are awful in hot weather or when being active as the flow gets heavier. And the leaks. Glad people are different
Not to mention the musty smell that comes along with wearing a bloody pad, especially if you sweat whilst wearing one... I've only made the exception to them right after my daughter was born, for obvious reasons. After that recovery, it was straight back to menstrual discs. Scented pads are even worse. Men may be (mostly) oblivious, but women KNOW that smell when it wafts by.

@Mecchasuki17 idk where ur from but let me explain: 1. Many regions of India don't have running water due to its remote location or topography. Although presently the situation is improving a lot but one cannot expect rural or tribal populations to take shower everyday simply bcz of it. 2. In India very little is known about tampons and its maintenance. Therefore it is easy to get an infection. 3. As the video mentioned, asian populations are generally conservative and inserting foreign objects vaginally is not preferred. 4. Because of above reasons there is limited availability of tampons.
@Tomato-ripe Your vagina is self cleaning, so you don't really need to clean the inside. Actually cleaning the inside will give you a higher risk of infection, so it's best to just clean outside your vagina. The only problem though is that it can't combat certain bacteria like E.Coli and it's easier to get an infection as a woman. I understand that hygiene is a problem in certain parts of India and pads are just a safer option for you guys, so keep living until things change.
"For Japanese women, the introduction of something foreign inside is considered unacceptable" This is quite the generelization. According to a survey published in Japan in March 2022, around 79.6 percent of the respondents shared that they never use tampons during their menstruation. Only about 2.8 percent of the respondents said that they used it daily during their menstruation. However, Japanese women do use sex toys. According to a survey conducted in February 2020, over 85 percent of female respondents in Japan used their hands while masturbating. At the same time, about 12 percent utilized sex toys for masturbation. Source: Statista.
Big no for conservative people I use pads, tampons, I even have mentrual cup but it is giving me a hard time to insert it. Pad is the best also hygienic
@@bappo218 yeah and if you just look tjrough this comment section u can clearly see that people are not intelligent wnough to grasp this information but "likes to sleep with tampons in". SO dangerous. but its also just nasty and unnatural
As an Asian female, the quick answer is: the thought of sticking something up your pussy (that isn't a dick anyway) is scary. What if it gets stuck in there? Why stress over that when there's pads you can use? Plus, Asians are more conservative than their western counterparts. Why do you think Japanese pr0n has censors on it?😅 Pads are cheap anyway, in my country a pack with 10-11 pieces costs like $2usd or less.
Always Infinity line of pads are fantastic. If you have a super heavy flow, it keeps you feeling secure and “clean”. This is of course if Japans pads aren’t available to you
I just have not had luck with pads, even in Asia, Japan included. Initially, I did not like using tampons, but I prefer them now. I got so tired of seeing a bloody pad every time I went to the bathroom or how it messed up part of my underwear. Though there are longer pads, I hate having that extra layer there and how it still just doesn’t feel secure enough for me. Plus, with swimming and sleeping, I have had much success with tampons.
@@StephieGsrEvolution Maybe now compared to my younger years, but my first 3 days are rather heavy. I guess it might be the specific ones I am using. Plus, I only use the overnight ones. I can usually get through a work day just fine without messing up my panties.
I'm from México and pads are also a popular choice here too. In my case I'm not comfortable with the idea of having something inside my body for a couple of hours, but it's up to everyone's personal decision.
I’m Mexican, but not from Mexico, but my mom is and she always felt discontent with tampons because they were taboo for young girls to use. And when I wanted to try them she would scold me. I would always have to sneak some until eventually she outgrew her old customs.
@@SousChefSanji oh I know that mindset :/ It is almost always related to the idea of “virginity” and “purity” that’s why it’s taboo for young girlies to use :( Glad your momma saved herself from that mindset!
@scienceonabudget Or maybe we are happy with what we use and don't have to suffer to acquire a like for it? Stop pressurinf women to violate themselves to try something you like.
I don’t use tampons I don’t believe they are good for the body and as an emergency technician I have seen young and older women misuse them and cause themselves pain. I believe your period might be inconvenient but it is made to flow out of your body for a reason. So I appreciate the variety of pads in Japan.
I agree. Nature tells you that stuff is supposed 2 come Out of your body ...not be soaked up by something N-side of it. No wonder so many women get fibroids and N-dometriosis. (Spelling). I stopped using them early on, thank goodness. Just did not make logical sense.
I mean, I'm from America, and I've had people be shocked or upset I used tampons as a young teen too. I guess the idea of putting something inside yourself that makes you "impure" is on more than one continent. But I have to use tampons and pads or else blood will be everywhere so other people can stfu! 😂
@cbernier3 a tampon isn't even a comparison to that. There is no sexual pleasure whatsoever from using a tampon. Either you try to use it when not on your period, and it hurts like he'll, or you feel so crappy while on your period that it's strictly business.
Mostly in asia, we don't use tampons. Pads is easier to wear. And we have menstrual pants to now. And the idea u put something inside is scary for many asian women including me. But menstrual cup getting more popular nowadays
Nah, let her use whatever she's comfortable with. No need for women to feel ashamed of a natural bodily process just cause some people might have a stronger sense of smell. Also not every woman has a (strong) scent when menstruating, and the (intensity of) the scent can also differ per cycle.
I bring tampons from the US to China. I remember when I forgot my tampons and I was so frustrated because I couldn’t do my sports or go about my life normally. Pads really hinder a woman’s movement.
Pads are like wearing a dirty diaper. Hot and uncomfortable too. Always would get leaks because of heavy flow and no matter what they never stayed in place. Once I used tampons I never went back.
I was sooo scared to try tampons at first cause it's not really used in my country as well but when I tried and it was life changing, I swear you don't feel a thing once they're inside, you can pee or poo or even take a shower it's so much more comfortable and practical, easy to stock some in your bag, the list goes on and on, I use pads as well cause here tampons are more expensive but I'm no longer afraid of them
There is a condition called vaginismus that makes using tampons impossible, so if it feels comfortable it is fine but don't feel bad if you cannot use them :) Also they can affect period cramps and should be changed every 2 hours to be safe.
Yeah I really wanted to go to a pool party when I was 14 so my mom explained it and I freaked out at first but I got it. I haven't used a pad in almost 15yrs now and frankly I'm cool with that because having the blood touching me grossed me out way more than a soiled tampon ever will.
Asian women in general don't use tampons. Many working class women in Asian countries don't even know what a tampon is, tbh, it sounds like it'd be very uncomfortable to use.
Honestly as someone with a incredibly heavy flow (I've had to take iron supplement in the later stages of my period cause I'm literally bleeding out) I never found tampons to be sufficient. I've tried using them a few times - always the biggest, extra-absorbing ones - and without exceptions my underwear is stained and ruined after just 40 minutes. So I've used a combo before; having the largest, most absorbemt pad on with a tampon in. Then I realised that that's stupid and I might as well just use the pad. The tampons feel uncomfortable after more than an hour - and gods forbid if you sneeze whilst having one in: it kinda freaking hurts because your muscle suddenly spasm and convulge violently around a dense object (almost like sneezing with a vibrator inside of you). This painful, convulging feeling might also be worse for me since my cramps are also apeshit crazy. And so the tampons seems to make me tense up even further. Just a bit of inside on another perspective of why people might choose differently than tampons. ^_^
I dont think you are inserting it deeply enough. The area the tampon should sit is deeper than the kegel muscles that contract during a sneeze? The pelvic floor is not very thick (about 1/3 to 1/2 of an inch thick), firstly, and you should be inserting the tampon 3~ish inches deep. You should feel nothing when “clamping down” with a tampon in. It is entirely possible that you have other issues like vaginal stenosis, but the most likely cause is improper insertion. Of course, you absolutely should only wear what you are comfortable with, and I’m not trying to tell you to start using tampons if you don’t want to, but it’s worth knowing for the future.
my periods used to be horrible until I started a walking regimen everyday. I do light weightlifting now too but I don't really think that had as big of an impact. I started doing just a mile a day and now I'm doing about 4 miles everyday. every period that goes by now is starting to get a little bit better. I knew I had to make a change because during two of them in a row in the early winter i couldn't get out of work....and The way I was acting because I was in so much pain, I think I was about to get in serious trouble. I was starting to worry about my job security. that was back at around Christmas time. I literally just finished my period and while it could have been better, it was like, The first normal one that I've had in a very long time and Im not living in fear of the pain anymore. it was crazy what was happening to me. The pain was so intense I almost fainted a few times and my boyfriend literally had to put me in the tub with hot water so that I wouldn't pass out. like, My vision was going white. I've learned a lot I know that in general of course exercise is really good for your body and makes you healthier overall but specifically I've learned a lot about the lymphatic system and now I kind of think if you don't get moving everyday that things just kind of build up and stay stagnant in your body and it also has a harder time getting rid of anything. and for whatever reason with periods you tend to over produce. My period is also lighter.
In most Asian countries, tampons and discs/cups are considered taboo as they "devirginize" women or making the daisy too loose (w/c is crazy that a woman's value depends on the "looseness" of her daisy). In choosing w/c menstrual product to use, it all depends on what your priorities are: PAD - easy to change (no learning curve), for light-medium bleeding, you're not too particular with the blood smell, your skin is not too sensitive (doesn't easily get rashes), you're not too particular on changing frequently, good for sedentary-moderate lifestyle; TAMPON - needs a lil finessing on the application and removal (has a learning curve), for light-medium bleeding, no blood smell, good for sensitive skin (prone to rashes), you're not too particular on changing frequently, good for all types of lifestyle (sedentary-vigorous), you have a lil confidence/courage to stick it in; CUP/DISC - needs more time and care on the application, removal and washing (has a learning curve), for medium-heavy bleeding, no blood smell, good for sensitive skin (prone to rashes), less frequency on changing (6-8hr), good for all types of lifestyle (sedentary-vigorous), reusable (1-2 years; you need to be meticulous in cleaning it); you have confidence/courage to stick it in It's good to have several options as everyone lives differently; different requirements, priorities, and preferences.
Devirginize?! Only a p**** can take your virginity. It’s absurd that someone would state that a tampon took it and even if it did remove the hymen why does that matter?! It’s completely senseless!
Someone better hook me up with the 50 cm pads because even nighttime pads in my country are too short to accomodate my underwear if you catch my drift
just use baby diapers. cut the sides and wear super fit nanny underwear. it works for me everytime the tide came 😊
Block them with folded tissue in between your ass cheeks
Maternity pads? They seem to be made of sterner stuff.
What country are you in? We have a brand sold at Target here in the US that sells them. If you’re in the US I’ll get the name
I don’t like tampons either, I was always so scared to try them out and probably will never try them
I understand how you feel.
Same, I'm 18 and I've never tried them. I also don't want to due to fear of them getting stuck or something
I was the same until I was 24 and going on a trip to the beach and didn't want to not enjoy the beach because of my period. Never went back to pads.

There’s definitely other reasons than just not using them right for them being painful or uncomfortable.
Everyone has their preference, of course but introducing something foreign in your vagina just don't sit right to me. Also, if you usually get infections from pads you're either prone to that or you're not using them correctly. Again, every woman/girl is different
Some women are small down there. And sometimes dry.
Never heard of getting an infection from pads but definitely from tampons.

This is a terrible channel and terrible videos. Those aren't "period pads". It literally says granny diapers on them, that's why they so huge 🤦
Japan should be re-named. Let's call it "Clean" instead, because it is.
Ugh they need those here in America 😊😢
I got one that was a thai brand and it was huge and had a cooling effect.
Not only Japan. Im an asian woman. Majority of us never feel comfortable with a tampon. Sanitary napkin hands down.
whoever uses tampons and menstrual cups is the bravest of all!! I can't even think about using them!! 😰
More like pads having to use that crap . Tampons are hella comfortable makes you forget you are even in your period
@@vanlifebae It depends on the individual. For me, the tampon string irritates the vaginal opening. I can never get it comfy, and due to my anatomy it often leaks. I end up having to wear a pad with it which kind of defeats the purpose. To each their own, truly.
@@justwhistlinpixiesame ,I hate the string but hey … it’s there for so you don’t loose it …. 😶 can’t say the same thing to me 😂 tmi
Both are really nice. I used tampons since had first gotten my period at 12, then later switched to a menstrual cup when I was 21-22 (I’m 25 rn)
By far the cup has been of stellar usage to me.
Plus I get to have a lil more extra more room in my bag now that I don’t have to carry a days worth of pads n tampons😂
Then again I’m the eldest daughter in my family and my sisters got used to me having every essential with me, so I’m still usually caring menstruation products with me just for them. Or sometimes for those rare one-time instances when a stranger asks if you got one on you in the rr 😅😭😭
Cups and tampons are very convenient if you can use them
Pads and tampons are ridiculously expensive for a basic need in the USA at least.
Everything is expensive

I wish we had pads that long. I can never understand why ours are so short it's a constant struggle 😖
You used to be able to buy maternity pads in the stores. They are huge, thick and awesome. Then they stopped selling them probably because they make more money by making you change out every.2 hours. I would bet somewhere online you could find the maternity pads. Just a thought.
What surprised me the most is that we still have issues around this topic.
Lots of people don't realize that Japan is definitely behind on some aspects. They are heavily racist and some bars only allow Japanese inside, and will deliberately turn away non-Japanese. I suppose every country has its issues that need to be resolved!
Yep. The period is not something shameful.
Where do u see an issue in anything related to this video? Lol

Why the hell would anybody go swimming on their period what the fuck is your problem........... That is utterly disgusting...... Nobody wants to swim around someone's period blood..
I was told it's because tampons are unhygienic compared to pads. You don't want to keep that dirty thing inside you. That's what I was told
Ahh yeah tampons would hurt with a light flow like yours but there might also be smaller less absorbent ones made that you could try
but yeah whichever keeps you the most comfortable is best :) personally I had one period with pads and instantly changed to tampons and I've never gone back lil

If it was normal in the US to wear huge pads, and if I had realized you can wear thick skirts instead and look cute and nobody can tell, the story would be different.

Very valid! Having tried both as a smaller woman and having talked to friends about their experiences, they *can* be uncomfortable.

Daughter of a devout Catholic mother here. I grew up in rural Ireland in the 90s. Periods were already a secretive, private "dirty" thing that you were never supposed to talk about. The only option I was provided with when I got my first period aged 9, was large thick pink kotex pads. As I got older and Ireland started to wake up to the smotheringly oppressive presence if the church, I started feeling "rebellious" and bought a box of Tampax (I was around 13/14).

@@bellaswan1459And menstrual cups are an even bigger TSS risk.
This has nothing to do with pads or tampons, this happened because this person didn't change the tampon for a new one, toxic shock happened because the vagïna was in contact with old blood for a long time, that's why is recommended to change a pad/ tampon every 4-8 hours, if a woman leaves a tampon inside for 3 days of course toxic shock can happen
But all this only happens if you don't change them often enough. I used them for years and years when I needed them. Now, well, I'm in my 60s.
Same in India. It also reduces risk of infection such as toxic shock syndrome
@Mecchasuki17 idk where ur from but let me explain:
@Mecchasuki17 Changing tampons regularly will reduce but I fail to see how unless woman is reaching in to clean, how would just a plain shower help??
@@Mecchasuki17 love how you just casually placed that xenophobic comment at the end

Nah, let her use whatever she's comfortable with. No need for women to feel ashamed of a natural bodily process just cause some people might have a stronger sense of smell. Also not every woman has a (strong) scent when menstruating, and the (intensity of) the scent can also differ per cycle.
Godzilla sized pads
I bring tampons from the US to China. I remember when I forgot my tampons and I was so frustrated because I couldn’t do my sports or go about my life normally. Pads really hinder a woman’s movement.
Pads are like wearing a dirty diaper. Hot and uncomfortable too. Always would get leaks because of heavy flow and no matter what they never stayed in place. Once I used tampons I never went back.
At least vaginal walls don't get continually sore and scarred.
I hear you!🙂🤘
Yes! Pads are disgusting.
Tampons are disgusting 🤮
@@tranquilitytranquility1407i think tampons are gross bro the blood is supposed to come out not collect inside of you 🤢 infections incoming in 3,2,1
I was sooo scared to try tampons at first cause it's not really used in my country as well but when I tried and it was life changing, I swear you don't feel a thing once they're inside, you can pee or poo or even take a shower it's so much more comfortable and practical, easy to stock some in your bag, the list goes on and on, I use pads as well cause here tampons are more expensive but I'm no longer afraid of them
There is a condition called vaginismus that makes using tampons impossible, so if it feels comfortable it is fine but don't feel bad if you cannot use them :) Also they can affect period cramps and should be changed every 2 hours to be safe.
True.when i wore a tampon for the first time i was in awe.I thought to myself "so this is how women survive their periods!!!???😮"😳😳😳
Yes but that is the outlier and rare and far between @@rosawolke2788
@@dinahmokwana4884 same!! Pads felt like diapers to me and would steal leak because I had the ones without wings 😞
Yeah I really wanted to go to a pool party when I was 14 so my mom explained it and I freaked out at first but I got it. I haven't used a pad in almost 15yrs now and frankly I'm cool with that because having the blood touching me grossed me out way more than a soiled tampon ever will.
In my opinion, tampons are way effective as they leave me blood free and It doesn’t leave me such a messy area.
I’ve leaked out of bladder protection products. I have to take iron as well. I’ve nearly passed out due to heavy bleeding.
Of course, you absolutely should only wear what you are comfortable with, and I’m not trying to tell you to start using tampons if you don’t want to, but it’s worth knowing for the future.
i always end up doubling up with a tampon/pad combo because my tampons always leak too quickly 😢
my periods used to be horrible until I started a walking regimen everyday.
Same here! Start taking iron a few days before your period. You won't be as tired!
No tampons too in Indonesia. Pads are waaay more comfortable and safe ❤️
I’m in the uk and find tampons more comfortable, I don’t even feel it. I always feel pads though. They make me itch.
Elmo surprised me the most... am I supposed to be wearing...Elmo?
😮 Great selections 👏👏
In most Asian countries, tampons and discs/cups are considered taboo as they "devirginize" women or making the daisy too loose (w/c is crazy that a woman's value depends on the "looseness" of her daisy).
In choosing w/c menstrual product to use, it all depends on what your priorities are:
PAD - easy to change (no learning curve), for light-medium bleeding, you're not too particular with the blood smell, your skin is not too sensitive (doesn't easily get rashes), you're not too particular on changing frequently, good for sedentary-moderate lifestyle;
TAMPON - needs a lil finessing on the application and removal (has a learning curve), for light-medium bleeding, no blood smell, good for sensitive skin (prone to rashes), you're not too particular on changing frequently, good for all types of lifestyle (sedentary-vigorous), you have a lil confidence/courage to stick it in;
CUP/DISC - needs more time and care on the application, removal and washing (has a learning curve), for medium-heavy bleeding, no blood smell, good for sensitive skin (prone to rashes), less frequency on changing (6-8hr), good for all types of lifestyle (sedentary-vigorous), reusable (1-2 years; you need to be meticulous in cleaning it); you have confidence/courage to stick it in
It's good to have several options as everyone lives differently; different requirements, priorities, and preferences.

@@luxuriouswishes female reproductive organs
Devirginize?! Only a p**** can take your virginity. It’s absurd that someone would state that a tampon took it and even if it did remove the hymen why does that matter?! It’s completely senseless!
@@luxuriouswishesyour vcard
Lol Anyone who believes it will cause someone to not be a virgin and looseless shouldn't not be having sex. They are far to ignorant and immature.
It's way healthier to use cotton pads. Just cotton pads. No scents, nothing added.
Right , natural is better and healthier.
Yes and its not only in Japan mostly Asian countries use napkins than tampons.
And stinkier. The amount of women i have smelled on their period is just.....ugh.
True.
I always prefer un-scented pads.
