Good afternoon, I would like to say thank you very much for uploading this type of content, your videos have been very helpful, especially the Leo Brouwer Etudes because I am studying a degree in music and I took classical guitar as a my instrument, thanks to your videos it has been easier for me to understand the interpretation of this type of musical pieces, you are an amazing guitarist, greetings from Sonora, Mexico.

Hey :) Is there a definitive number of classical guitar forms (etude, sonata, I don't know others) :) How many of them are there? Bonus question. How many classical guitar pieces should a classical guitar player have in his repertoire ?

Hi! :) The consensus is that European classical music has only six stand-alone forms: simple binary, simple ternary, sonata, rondo, theme & variations, and fugue . Etudes are more of a designation than a form. They're used for practicing a particular approach or technique.

Bonus answer🤣 -Most classical players have a couple of concerti and two or more hours of solo music in their repertoire. The number of pieces is really secondary. Some players would rather program lots of small pieces other players want to showcase larger masterpieces. Julian Bream used to say he liked to offer "meat and potatoes" rather than lots of tiny appetizers. Andres Segovia tended to program shorter length pieces. Hope this helps!

@@hobiegunn I am speechless. This is such an amazing answer, to the point. What would you suggest for an electroclassical guitar? I love reverb and delay and I love to add those to moonlight sonata from Beethoven. That sounds amazing in my opinion.

@@igorperic5232 Hmm, that's a good question... Yamaha, and Cordoba are good brands that offer classical-electric guitars, but you'd need to get an effects device (or add effects onto your recording). There are plenty of other makers of classical-electrics, but those two are the ones I have used. Hope this helps!
