The reason UA-camrs don’t explain CAGED well is because they keep the details behind the paywall. The fact that this available for free on UA-cam is insane. Thank you OP. This helped me apply what I’ve been trying to learn for a while.
Sadly it goes for all music but this dates way back that's why elderly folk would hate to teach younger folk unless they are being paid to do so 😅also goes into paying musician to play instead of them spreading their love for music to inspire others to play
I’ve been playing guitar since about 1987. I’ve watched guitar videos since UA-cam has become popular. This video alone has set the stage for understanding the fretboard. Thank you. I will watch this video many times.
That's the 1st time I seen all the chord shapes played through C A G E D, A G E D C, G E D C A etc. I've only ever seen tutorials show the C shape up the neck. Thank you I can now understand more.
I've been playing for 15 years, mostly practice with friends, palying what I like and composing. I studied some theory here and there but not much. I have to say this channel is by far the best one. I'm quite surprised how good the delivery of the info is. I'm reviewing all that theory and for the first time ever it feels enjoyable. Thank you
YOU NAILED IT! FINALLY MAKES SENSE! It is really interesting how guitar teachers start out with the standard chord shapes and never explain how those chord shapes are used all along the neck. THANK you so much. It finally sank in this thick skull of mine! Lol😂 👍
i'VE PLAYED OVER 20 YEARS and I can solo over C major/A minor and sounds good but never understood what my =ear was doing thanks best explanation soi far so it makes sense
Holy geez..I actually learned a thing or 2 today. Thank you. A while back, I watched a few videos on the caged system and never caught on...your video was good. Good job
This is a great lesson. For those of us on the short bus, this is about six months worth of information and technique to get under our fingers. I hope I live long enough to get this good. Thank so much for this.
After dozens of Caged system videos I have watch you are the one to truly make it logic and clear, no joke. Thank you vry much you are top of your league.
This just took everything I know about guitar and blew it out of the water. Been trying to figure out triads for months and you made it all click in just five minutes! :mindblown: Thank you for this! Rock on!
Wow!! You made a promise at the very beginning of the Video, and I'm shocked you delivered exactly that!! Did you know, you are the first Guitar Teacher on UA-cam that fulfilled a promise?! The rest are like the government, all talk and no delivery. Thank you, you have freed me from the Neck.
Perfectly clear. You managed to make the terms understandable, as well as how they are implemented. It ties notes in a chord, chord progressions, and how to use the structure of a fretboard to move between them in a creative manner.
Thank you. This is by far the best explanation I have come across which ties together the CAGED system, Triads, and the Pentatonic scale. This has significantly helped me - thank you again.
I have watched dozens, and I mean dozens of videos trying to explain the caged system, and in less than 3 minutes into this video, the lights finally came on. Thank you for this lesson, it was very well done! I watch many of your videos, and all of them are excellent! Keep them coming.
Anytime I've ever learned a new chord I've always thought i just learned 12 new chords, because i did. Just move it around . But this CAGED TECHNIQUE is very helpful,,,THANKS.
Thank you soooo much for this video!!! Best one out there. I've been confused abour CAGED for a while and nothing has clicked with me yet - until your video. I really appreciate it! You've helped a ton! New subscriber here! :)
awesome explanation Eddie, been studying this stuff a long time, your explanation and application makes it super clear, so thank you for making the video
Mi lengua no es el inglés. Pero aún así con solo observar está técnica lo entendí. Y me párese genial está fórmula. Gracias por regalarme la. No tengo como pagarle. Solo agradecerle. Saludos desde el Salvador Centro América. Bendiciones y saludos.
Although I’ve seen some of this, in other places, your presentation has been really helpful. I’m marking this for reference. Do you know of a Nemonic That could help with this instead of rote memorization
How do I get this book? I’m a perma-beginner, and I really think this will be an enjoyable way to practice where I am not always at the top of the fretboard
Thank you for explaining the system! Now, what is the distance between each chord shape within the cycle? Any reference in terms of amount of frets between them? Is there any overlap?
I think I get it. You use a G "shape" chord to play an actual C chord, Or to play an E chord, you simply use an A shaped chord. And overlay them with a G shaped Pentatonic pattern (which follows a G shaped chord but isn't an actual G chord) if you're in a minor key, or an A shaped pentatonic pattern if you're in a major chord? And you can use the triad versions of the caged shaped chords together with the A and G shaped pentatonic patterns for soloing? Is that right?
Thank you for the Video, I have a question, please. I'm struggling with the A-shape chord, specifically with bending my ring finger away from the 1st string since I can cleanly play the rest of strings. I've been trying for a long time finally accepted to play the first string barrd by ring finger too, and the G-shape chord is also taking me time to play, I don't know if it is of the factthat I am playing with acoustic guitar. Coming to my main point, although I've trained for months on the CAGED chords I had started plaing them well However, I'm losing finger memory due to a lack of practice. Could you please make an excercise video involving CAGED.Thank you
Sorry, maybe I missed something. I get how you adapt this system to accommodate F chords but how do B chords fit into this? Is there some similar system to find B chords up and down the fretboard?
Could you elaborate on what you mean by 1,3,5, or 4 chord, 3 chord...( Is that the number in the acronym caged that they appear?) Then you seem to apply numbers to notes, which is confusing. 4 chord, or 4 note... If you use the word chord or note after the number I think I might understand you....😂
the 1 3 5 of the major scale are the notes that make up the chord or triad..the 1 4 5 is a three chord progression that makes a song...1 chord 4 chord and the 5 chord
The only way to emphasize a simple method so that it stick to the brain is through repetition. That is what Eddie did. Watch the whole video than you really will appreciate it, becouse it will be hard to forget after that. Cheers from Indonesia.
This is worth your time. It’s probably not possible to do a simple and effective explanation of the CAGED system in 5 minutes or less unless he did each form in a separate video. C, then A, then G and so forth. Under half an hour to define the system then demonstrate how to use it for both rhythm and lead playing is pretty damn good…
I can see the value as you play it, but have ZERO idea where any of these notes are... and those chord shapes that you're contorting to, I would never use and will never remember 😭
The reason UA-camrs don’t explain CAGED well is because they keep the details behind the paywall. The fact that this available for free on UA-cam is insane. Thank you OP. This helped me apply what I’ve been trying to learn for a while.

Me too! ✌🏻
No doubt about that. Now, I know what to do with CAGED. Big thank❤
Thanks Eddie. This is good information that's helping me see the notes and chords along the neck. Triads too!
I've been stuck in this weird intermediate stage, been looking for caged system explanations for a few weeks. This is BY FAR the best. Thanks so much.
I’ve been playing guitar since about 1987. I’ve watched guitar videos since UA-cam has become popular. This video alone has set the stage for understanding the fretboard. Thank you. I will watch this video many times.
The title speaks truth. You really did make sense of the system where most others have failed
That's the 1st time I seen all the chord shapes played through C A G E D, A G E D C, G E D C A etc. I've only ever seen tutorials show the C shape up the neck. Thank you I can now understand more.

Eddie teaches me more in 10 minutes than my guitar teacher did in 2 years. Dude was born to do this. Just explains everything so well
CAGED system finally made some sense brother. I am really thankful to you. You're a gem of a guitar artist.
This video was the one that finally got it through my thick skull. Thanks guy!
Holy geez..I actually learned a thing or 2 today. Thank you. A while back, I watched a few videos on the caged system and never caught on...your video was good. Good job
After years of head scratching. Finally explained so I could understand it. Thanks so much!
This is a great lesson. For those of us on the short bus, this is about six months worth of information and technique to get under our fingers. I hope I live long enough to get this good. Thank so much for this.

This is the best way to explain the CAGED system. Good job!
You are amazing, thank you so much.
This is the clearest explanation of CAGED that I’ve seen. Thank you for your input!
Dude. Finally. Thank you!
This just took everything I know about guitar and blew it out of the water.
Been trying to figure out triads for months and you made it all click in just five minutes! :mindblown:

Great to hear this lesson helped you!
The best explanation of CAGED
Perfectly clear. You managed to make the terms understandable, as well as how they are implemented. It ties notes in a chord, chord progressions, and how to use the structure of a fretboard to move between them in a creative manner.
FINALLY! An explanation of the CAGED system that I understood immediately.
I've watched alot of videos to try to understand the CAGED system and I have to say you nailed it!! Thank you appreciate you!!
now it finally makes sense, thx!!
this was by far the best thing i’ve ever watched for making the next steps in learning, made everything make sense thank you!
Thank you. This is by far the best explanation I have come across which ties together the CAGED system, Triads, and the Pentatonic scale. This has significantly helped me - thank you again.
Great Video. This is the best explanation of the CAGED system . Thank you!

Cant believe that I learned a lot in just one video. Thanks a lot and may you help even more!
Anytime I've ever learned a new chord I've always thought i just learned 12 new chords, because i did. Just move it around . But this CAGED TECHNIQUE is very helpful,,,THANKS.
Best explanation I've seen mate ,great job 👍.
Thank you, once again, Eddie.
A big HELLO from, portugal/caldas da rainha
I’m also a visual person so being able to see it as well as hear it really helps to get a better grass
This is the best explanation of the caged system I have ever seen. Thanks!
Again, Eddie, another great lesson. I'LL be going.over this lesson several times. Perfectly explained . Thanks Eddie ✌️
Great explanation of CAGED.
Thank you for explaining this!!! Definitely a lightbulb moment for me 💡
That was the best lesson I’ve ever had. I’m 59
Finally, a CAGED explanation that makes sense to me! Thank you!
Great lesson!
Great Video and explanation!
Thank you soooo much for this video!!! Best one out there. I've been confused abour CAGED for a while and nothing has clicked with me yet - until your video. I really appreciate it! You've helped a ton! New subscriber here! :)
You make it look so easy😂😂 Really confusing at the beginning but slowly sinking in. Baie Dankie my vriend❤
awesome explanation Eddie, been studying this stuff a long time, your explanation and application makes it super clear, so thank you for making the video
Brilliant lesson. Great stuff cheers
You're a wonderful teacher
At last this makes sense thankyou 😍
understood and thanks: great lesson
Super Kool!!! Thanks for the info 👍
Im so glad i clicked on this video, thank you so much
wowwww thanks, this is a masterclass 💯
cool, I finally got it thanks!
I like your your style bro. Of all the UA-camrs I’ve seen you have a way about conveying your lessons that make’s it easy to understand. Good job.
Thank you❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I finally get it.
Thank you!
Thanks for the lesson🤩
This is a great video, thanks! When you're strumming the triads, is that hybrid strumming?
excellent instruction...
This is a really really good explanation for the CAGED system. Youre making music theory less awful !
It finally makes sense
Hi Bro, Cruze here to appreciating your tremendous Guitar playing in a very rightway May God Bless you bye. ❤
As a self-described "advanced beginner," this might just be my breakthrough into intermediate.
Tnx sir
A great video. Thank you.
Do you have a course to teach melodic soloing using triads?
Cheers
Why can’t others explain this so well? This is the first time I’ve seen it explained clearly.
WOW!!! CAGED made easiest... Thank You!!!
thank uuuu
I think you'll be alright.
18:20 using looper migh help accentuate the context
I think I get it. You use a G "shape" chord to play an actual C chord, Or to play an E chord, you simply use an A shaped chord. When you see a " cheater bar cord" this is , 1st finger not covering large E string,
this is what they are playing.
Thank you for the Video, I have a question, please. I'm struggling with the A-shape chord, specifically with bending my ring finger away from the 1st string since I can cleanly play the rest of strings. What telecaster are you playing? What’s the color?
💪💪💪
Never seen it explained in quite like that. excellent. also gives me permission to play partial chords and not get so anal about leaving a note out.
Sorry, maybe I missed something. I get how you adapt this system to accommodate F chords but how do B chords fit into this? Is there some similar system to find B chords up and down the fretboard?
George Harrison understood this technique early on and used it effectively.
so first position its an F chord but the shape is E.
Barred “E” 👍
What about B
Using a "looper" would have underlined the Tut!
How do you deal with the F and B chords ?
Those two are not part of the CAGED.
so caged isnt actually about a caged box on the fret?. guess im taking few steps up right now.
❤👍👍🙏
When someone says a simple method I always look at the length of the vid. 26 minutes can’t be that easy to understand.
I recommend watching the whole video
The only way to emphasize a simple method so that it stick to the brain is through repetition. That is what Eddie did. Watch the whole video than you really will appreciate it, becouse it will be hard to forget after that. Cheers from Indonesia.

Why are first position chords often referred to as "cowboy chords"? 😏
