Daniel Snyder is easily one of if not the most hated owner in the entire NFL, with a laundry list of blunders and shady decisions that stretches two decades long since he first purchased the Washington Redskins in 1999. While detailing every flaw in Snyder's tenure as owner could probably reach hours in length, this video aims to understand the key reasons as to why he is so maligned and has so little respect amongst NFL fans and executives alike.

Lots of people commenting that Washington has actually won 3 Super Bowls and not 2 like I mentioned. Please forgive me guys, it’s been so incredibly long I must have forgot.
1 superbowls in a strike shorten season. 3 superbowls with 3 different qbs 1 coach.
Albert Gary two if you include the 1987 season, one week cancelled and three games with replacement players
@@jasonfire3434 thats the one I was talking about when they beat the Broncos with Doug Williams. Im happy they finally gave the replacement players their rings for that season
Albert Gary oh well in that case you also missed the 1982 team, only 9 games played that year due to strike, so only one SB title in a “normal” season

Hey ur the “never stop making this” guy.
I'm sure it is damn good...compared to the Browns.
One of my bosses used to work for the Redskins. She said on gamedays when he arrived everyone had to leave the office as he walked thru to get to his own huge greenroom that he didn't allow anyone else to use.
Walk past him in hallway? Do not speak to him and do not make eye contact with him. Thats not just a suggestion that employees shared with eachother. That's an actual rule that one of his assistants gave directly to my boss.
People might not believe this comment, but I believe it to actually be true. A friend of mine, the company he worked for, got a contract to do a job at the former R*&^%ins Park.... So they pulled up in their trucks, and immediately a couple suits and some security people came out. It was normal on these deals for everyone to go into a conference room at the start of one of these jobs, and do the whole "this is where you park, these are the entrances you use, these are the ID badges you will wear, during these times we need these areas clear..." the usual stuff. So they kind of thought, okay, we're gonna do this in the parking lot?? Okay, whatever....
No. This parking lot meeting was, these are THE RULES for anyone who enters this building. You do not speak to Mr Snyder. You do not look at Mr Snyder. You do not make eye contact with Mr Snyder. Ever. If Mr Snyder is walking down a hallway, you get out of that hallway.... they all had to agree to this, before they were allowed in the building....
@@patrickmorrissey2271 I had no reason not to trust her, but you confirm it. I can't imagine working for that man
@@Isaac-od4rm That's absolutely what my friend said. The vibe in the place was so creepy... It made them uncomfortable to be in there. I could go on & on, but one telling little incident was, a few weeks in, their foreman brought them together in the morning, at a breakfast place, and said look guys... Re-check your work, make sure it's right, do everything perfect from here on out... Let's just get this done, and get outta there... Guys, our goal here is, to wrap this up, get outta there, and never come back.... You guys understand? And literally everyone at the table was nodding vigorously, like yeah, get outta there, never come back, yeah, we're down for that, yeah.... My friend has said many times, there's literally no amount of money, that would make him go back there.... So yeah, until they figure out a way to fire the owner, I doubt anything is going to change....
I actually believe this very much. Here in Portland Paul Allen owner of the Portland Trailblazers and Seahawks was like that, don't approach or talk to him. Doesn't seem like a people person. I can understand privacy but you would think the owner would give nods or waves or acknowledge his employees. But Paul Allen never seemed like a massive A-hole like Snider not at all.
@@patrickmorrissey2271 You have to remember it's Mr. Snider. I bet the guy has mistresses galore and bangs $10,000 call girls. Has to be doing something with all that money he screws his fans out of. Unless he is forced out it will be the same old same old.
I wonder if Dan knows he wouldn't have been a Redskins fan if an owner like himself had the team when he was a kid.
Wow - you just blew my mind there. That's actually a serious point. Non sarcastic

My first job out of college was working for Dan Snyder's company before he owned the team. Fast forward to 1999, when I heard he bought the team, I told my friends they may want to consider looking for another team to root for because he was going to run this team into the ground.
Love the Harbaugh clip - a reminder that 30 miles away, the EXACT opposite exists. In Baltimore, a winning culture and a respect for the fans is a nearby example of just how rotten the WFT organization is.
Pretty much nailed it. When I think of winning programs and franchises I think of The Steelers, Packers, Ravens, Patriots what do they have for the most part long term coaches stability and staff respect for their fans. When I think of the worst run franchises I think of The Lions, Browns, Jets, Browns, WFT and before recently The Bungles, Bucs, Cardinals and Saints minus the last 10 years. Very easy to root for The Ravens even in their down years, not so for the WFT aka the Commanders. Don't know why they couldn't just call them The Washington Indians and redo the helmet logo move on.
They need to fire Dan Snyder out of a canon and make it their new logo.
This is by far the best solution I've heard. Solves their 2 biggest problems at once.

@@aidanwotherspoon905 No, of course not.
Great video and extremely well done but the part I disagree with is that Snyder is not the root of all of the problems with this franchise - he most certainly is. He's the owner, everything is on him because he has all of the power. He let Cerrato run the front office for a decade, then let Bruce Allen run the front office for a decade without any regard for their level of competence in making front office decisions. It's a trickle down effect and all starts at his feet.
“No matter how pathetic the Cowboys and Jerry are at least we ain’t Washington.” My family and I literally make this joke with each other.
No one wants to be Jerry. No one wants Jerry as an owner. At least Jerry ain’t Snyder
Raymond Blanton say what you will about Jerry, at least he knows talent when he sees it. He just ruins that talent with his incompetence as an owner.
Nah, Jerry is right there with the worst. The man desperately wants to be respected as a football genius, but he just isn't. The man doesn't break down tape. He doesn't know talent. He desperately wants to win a superbowl his way (because let's face it... he gets no respect for the '95 superbowl because everyone knows Jimmy built that team) but he never will. The most successful franchises in history most often give control of personnel decisions to the coach or in many cases, coach and general manager.... in none of them are the owners meddling and involved in selecting and evaluating talent. Jerry needs to sit his ass down, stay in the background and just sign the checks for the people who know what the hell they're doing.
Honk Honkler prime example: the patriots. Robert Kraft has been completely hands off and has entrusted that franchise to Belichick and look and where that’s gotten them. Jerry boy should take a few pointers
Jerry Jones is literally the only owner who fired a head coach that just won him TWO Super Bowls. Most head coaches get contract extensions and fitted for a ball of fame blazer for that. Not in Jerry’s world...you get a pink slip and a two million dollar buyout of your contract. Jimmy Johnson built that team from a complete joke into a powerhouse and Jones fired him because he had too much ego and thought he should get the most credit for the Cowboys early 90’s dominance. Save for a super bowl win two years after Jimmy left (which deserves an asterisk because it came from a team mostly built by Jimmy) what has jones done since??

Not a Washington fan, but a team that represents our nation's capital deserves so much better. The two things I want most for this team are an actual name that isn't "football team," and for you guys to be a good team again.
At least your team can be called the Commanders. 😅
They should stay the "Washington Football Team ." It suits them: it sucks.
Its so retarded. It does suit them, and their fans. I hope they never change it so we can all make fun of them.
A good owner would have moved the team to a nearby town that isn't DC decades ago
@@inactiveusertypeofaccount181 They should move to Richmond or Oklahoma City. They should either keep their team name and logo or change to the bison.
There's only 3 reasons Jimmy Haslam isn't the worst owner in the NFL: Stan Kronke, Dean Spanos, and Dan Snyder.
Bill O'Brien isn't an owner but he also makes the list due to sheer incompetency
Don't forget the Ford Family. Ran a once great franchise like the Detroit Lions who were used to be considered the gold standard of the NFL from the 50's into the ground. Been garbage ever since.
Divine_Wrath I think a lot of the blame goes to William Ford not necessarily to his wife or daughter.

The most damning thing I've read about Washington under Snyder's reign is something to the effect of, "How many coaches or players can honestly say that their time with Washington improved their overall careers?"
Dan Snyder running the Washington Football Team is like Peter Griffin Running Pewterschmidt Enterprises
At 10:17, “DMV” refers to the Tri-State-Area of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Just wanted to make sure y’all knew what that stands for
Ive only ever heard of the Department of Motor Vehicles
Enes Custovic it refers to both
Not tri state, more like "tri area". District - Maryland - Virginia. DC ain't a state.
Mkjo yeah the tri-state is usually metro NY, CT and NJ
There was a video somewhere that said the D stands for Delaware.... I’m like, the fuck? Who cares about Delaware lol
DMV really doesn’t even mean all of MD or VA. Richmond or Norfolk dudes don’t care about DMV. For VA it’s really like Woodbridge, Arlington, Alexandria, Lorton areas.
I had to do a business project on a poorly handled business. I did it on washington and got an A
I'm not in any way excusing the allegations, but do we really need cheerleaders for an NFL team? Let's be honest, their whole purpose is to be ogled by drunks or sent out on publicity stunts. And I'm not necessarily saying that's wrong, just that with all the 'outrage' (which, admittedly, there hasn't been as much as probably warranted...) I thought there'd be more directed at the institution in general. I certainly think what happened in Washington was an outlier, but I doubt it's by that much. The entire thing is completely built upon sexist hiring practices and absurd body image rules. And I'm specifically talking about 'professional' cheerleaders, I understand giving younger girls something to do at a football game, but these are full grown women I think they'll be okay. Love to see more teams be like Pittsburgh and decide they want no part of it. Leave it for the High Schools and Colleges...
couldn’t agree more, it’s just antiquated at this point
Finally, someone see's what art Rooney saw. You come to watch football, not girls... that's after the game. Jk
As you mentioned, they are full grown women and know damn well what "professional" cheerleading entails... let's start removing names, then cheerleaders, eventually we'll be removing coaches, players and referees too until there's nothing left of the sport...
Thats a pretty long way of saying you don't get laid.
I mean I'm sure most of them enjoy it, plus it seems like a pretty decent side hustle
Vinny Cerrato is on the 10-2 radio show on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore. He also coaches high school football at Fallston High School in Harford County, the same high school I graduated from in 2000.
For what it's worth, from what he's spoken about his time working for Snyder, it sounds like most of what he did was done to please Snyder. It seems like he understood the problems that were being created but knew that Snyder wouldn't have anything less than his way, and so he complied. If we're to believe his side of the story, I kind of feel bad for him as I think his football IQ is probably better than what the results in DC showed. And honestly, history seems to jibe with his version of events, as Snyder continuously hires and fires talented people who don't agree with his idiotic vision of running a football team.
I think Vinny knew he had a "good" job, at least status-wise, and wanted to keep it. GM of the Redskins was a huge step beyond his short role in 1994's "Kindergarten Ninja" (I'm not even joking, look it up). At the same time, Dan Snyder is the same guy who once chaired Six Flags and brokered a deal to sell mattresses at the park as "the official mattress of Six Flags." Yeah, no kidding, look that up, too. It's worth the read.
Snyder is pretty much a cancer to everything he touches. He's an accidental millionaire, and a prime example of being in the right place at the right time. The Washington Football Team will always face an uphill battle towards success as long as he owns the team.
If Snyder would simply sit back and let football people run his football team the way they want to, he could turn a corner. But he's a lifelong fan and wants to meddle too much. Imagine playing Madden franchise mode but it's real life and you're the real owner, that's Dan Snyder. I'll give him a little credit though, he canned Bruce which none of us thought would ever happen. He's stepped back and let Rivera come in and pretty much do whatever he wanted. Rivera even cut Dwayne Haskins, a pick Dan Snyder had unilaterally made the season before.
There is still hope for the guy, I have to believe that as a fan.
@@logicaldude3611 For your sake, I hope you're right. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Dont worry Washington. It finally happened. Ya did it. Congrats.
The NFL needs to make him sell the team. His ownership has been incompetent and unethical
They should, but Goodell is too spineless. Everyone knows that Snyder has money to burn on a frivolous, decade-long lawsuit that will go nowhere if the league tries to force him out. Snyder’s life force is spite.
Goodell is more afraid of Snyder than Snyder is of Goodell.
The guy that sold the team is probably feels smart right now
He’s prolly like damn I let this happen
Probably doesn't feel anything, because he's dead and didn't really "sell" it
Any owner who sold an NFL franchise 20 years ago would feel pretty stupid today considering that team values have skyrocketed.
The dude before Snyder died that’s why he sold it
Jack Kent Cooke was dead for a while haha. His family sold it because they didnt want to drive it to the ground themselves
I remember when Danny bought the team and I saw him doing an interview and thought "this douchebag will never win" . Little did I know.
Thanks to this video and many others (namely the Philip Lindsay one) I was able to surprise my NFL fanatic brother with my new knowledge.
Thanks for giving me bragging rights, my dude. You're seriously one of the best NFL UA-camrs hands down
Thank you for making this! We have GOT to get this guy out of here. Been a fan for decades, way before he got here. Used to be able to try to forget about him and still support the team. Nowadays, I find that just about impossible. Please, Goodell, give us our team back.
I'm a D.C. area native and for the first 25 years of my life, I was a huge fan of this team. I cannot begin to tell you how much the D.C. area loved this team, despite its *very* checkered history (to put it mildly). It was a love affair that bridged otherwise irreconcilable socio-economic divides. And this includes the team's leanest and most alienating years prior to 1999 (remember, this was the last NFL team to integrate and represents a majority-minority city). D.C. was an NFL town while the NFL was barely a blip on the national sports radar.
Only someone like Dan Snyder could end that love affair.
@Jethro Derp and grew up a rabid fan. He wants all the glory from the 1970s and 1980s with none of the work. Those teams were winners because the owners trusted their GMs to get the job done. Jack Kent Cooke was a cantankerous old man with high expectations but even he knew how to hold back and let his people do their thing.
@Jethro Derp this franchise did not make the transition to free agency and the salary cap well. That predates Snyder's ownership, of course, but he certainly didn't make things better. The infrastructure was already corroded but he basically destroyed it and tried to rebuild it with balsa wood and toothpicks.
Jack Kent Cooke had this team as one of the best and most consistent contenders from the 70's to the early 90's. Even the '99 team that nearly made the NFC championship was really a Cooke team. Under Synder, this team became one of the biggest laughingstocks in the league. Only five playoff berths, four winning seasons, three division titles (one of which was really a participation trophy), and one playoff win that came all the way back in 2005 since Synder became the owner. Thank god he's now gone.

As for this video, you were too soft on Snyder and his Muppets. You could tell almost immediately that he was going to be a disaster. Fantasy Football FA signings, bringing in incompetent friends and boobs to eff up the front office, to firing Marty (his biggest mistake), as well as going to war with his own fan base, over every jot and tittle, he was an immediate, malignant cancer to this team. hey, as a 22 year old cowboys fan, we can share in our misery lol. at least they look decent this year, but never in my entire life have they appeared in a conference title game, hell most years they squeak into the playoffs and go down in the first round lol. im hoping for a better future for half the nfc east, since my dad has been a skins fan forever so even as a cowboys guy it's always sorta hurt to see just HOW pathetic their organization has been my entire life lol
Dude you missed the whole Jay Gruden sleeping with the same girls that his players were
Isn't the player the O-Line?
Rizky Anandita I think it was a RB
Wait what? You serious? Lol
Wow, the first result when I searched. If that's true, that's dysfunction at its finest. Something you'd see in a movie.

@@TG-qr4jr Yeah, there were rumblings about this at the time. Gruden was a joke. We signed him because we wanted his brother Jon, but Jon didn't want to come back out of retirement yet. So we settled for his brother instead. That is how I interpreted it at the time and how I'll always see it. No way it was just a massive coincidence.
He actually uploaded again. I thought I would never see the day.
These videos are really good man, keep it up up up ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Great video! You are completely right on all points, especially his treatment of his employees.
Redskins with one of the most iconic names and logos ever. Interesting that no matter what they name the the team or change the logo to it will never be as good. Prolly just gonna decrease sales of branded goods and tickets, guess sponsorships was worth it tho.
“most iconic” lmfao it was only iconic bc of all the backlash it has gotten over the years bud
@@basic_frs4745 the logo design itself is such a great drawing with beautiful colours. I ain't even American or a redskins fan, but redskins or raiders merch is worn by people who don't even know what the NFL is. Backlash or not
@@basic_frs4745 The backlash over the years is quite exaggerated. Businesses get as much backlash for not have more than 2 bathrooms for all the many sexes of gender that there are.
ILoveTheJubbs x literally nobody but a handful of twitter liberals have EVER cared about the name
Wow its crazy how his channel has been growing I've been watching since January of 2019
So on point. Was a Skins fan from birth and former season ticket holder. I have refused to support this team for 2 years now. Snyder is the absolute worst. The organization has no respect for its players, coaches, or team. You nailed it!
So, what team do you support now?
@@antimurphy8212 Well this was a trip down memory lane. I don’t support any team. Don’t really even watch football anymore. Just kinda over it.
Washington will become the new Cleveland, I'm convinced of it.
The smartest business move right now is to Make sure Rivera has total control of football operations, and do what some people may see as pandering and make the mascot the Red Tails.
I love when you upload
I've been a Washington fan since 2010, I didn't watch the team during snyder's first decade of ownership, but I'm well aware of his history running the team.
Given all that has happened this past off-season as well as the past two years, I would hope that Snyder realizes that he needs to have competent football people run the team and
that he would step back from those decisions. The team did alot this off-season to hopefully change the narrative about them going forward, of course, it Remains to be seen, but im encouraged by what has been done. As for the sexual harassment allegations, im going to wait and see what comes of it, its unfortunate that it happened. At this point, i just want to worry about the actual football on the field, I do believe that if Dan doesn't interfere, Rivera can turn this team around, snyder has no choice now that people are losing interest and with the recent successes of the other DC sports teams.
Bro! I LOVE these retrospectives. Will you please do one on the Panthers. We deserve one. Where do we go from here. Do we keep Mccaffrey or go a different direction, will we get Watson, Will we draft a good Quarterback. It's crazy.
I'm from Landover, MD and I can't recall him ever putting money into the schools that surround FedEx Field. He certainly didn't when I was in school. Taking money and giving nothing back. We deserve better #HTTR
Imo they should change the name to the “Washington fishes”
As a Giants fan, long live Snyder. Every fan wishes their rival had an owner like him.
No comments & *only 1 like* in at least a year? Wow, you must have hit a nerve!
Just remember our GM for like 10 years (Bruce Allen) referred to our Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins as "Kurt" during a press conference... 6 times. He did not even know our QBs name and was trying to negotiate a contract with him.
STE is one of the best Football UA-cam channels on the whole platform. My only issue is I wish they posted more, ha.
They should rename them to the deadskin
I'm liking this not just because of your comment, but your profile picture as well. That had me weak 😂
“Foreskins” ?
@@OVRxNxOUT No, because those bring people joy from time to time.
TenaciousJ2323 ;-}
You forgot to mention Jason Wright. I still feel nothing will change as long as Snyder is owner but I do feel that Jason Wright is a HUGE step in the right direction as far as the business side of the organization.
I commented this on other videos about the football team but, I live in MD and the high school state semifinals tickets were more expensive than tickets to a Washington game.
And now, after 24 years of horror, disgrace, and awful ownership, Snyder is finally gone. The nightmare is over, and hopefully Washington fans can finally have a bright future ahead of them.
Ewww he said “excellent journalism” and “Washington Post” in the same sentence
As a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, even I fail to understand why the hell anyone would want to emulate Jerry Jones!
Yes, he made the moves to build the team that won three Super Bowls in four years, increased the team's value, and built a virtual palace of a stadium, but his earliest move- firing Tom Landry- was necessary, but awful. Without those rings, Jerry Jones is at least half as awful as the usual bad sports team owners.
Thank you
Ahhhhhh good to have ya back boss man. You've been dearly missed
jack kent cooke, "those are my superbowl trophies as a former owner"
Washington and knicks, oh how I wish you had different owners.
LAkeRS Are BetTeR
It's so sad being from Maryland and living most of my life near the Washington area and growing up a fan with my family I don't even want to be a fan anymore. The ownership is terrible and it's evident -from the unkept stadium that is decaying despite being built less than 30 years ago, to it's players, and it's broken willed fans. We want a change, we have been voicing a change and yet nothing has been done. At this point I'm ready to become a Ravens fan because I am fed up with this franchise.
ive been a Redskins fan all my life once the name changed i could give a damn about the team havent watched a game this season and don't miss it
Very New to the NFL, but watching your videos made me feel like I should have jumped on sooner. Best Regards from Germany !
The King is back!
This just made my day.
a guy in my office has a friend who is neighbors with Snyder. One day he goes to pick his daughter up from a play date at his house, says "hey Dan, thanks for watching her." Snyder looks at him and says "It's Mr. Snyder." Apparently he insists everyone, not just his employees call him that.
If anyone knows where someone is selling one of those hats please lmk .
