I love this arrangement's use of silence/quiet. So many arrangements try to cram sound into every nook and cranny of the song, but the silences here just pull you in.

Completely agree. I was going to make the same point, that he uses rubato almost to breaking point, to let the notes hang in the air and as you say, for the silences to pull you in. It also gives an almost conversational feel to his singing sometimes, which increases the intimacy of the performance.
Austin has such a warm, smooth, velvety voice and Sebastian is just great with his piano playing. Thanks for the reaction.

“Danny Boy” is one of those rare songs that in instrumental or full Lyric performance grabs at your heart strings. You got the magic right. Combine Austin’s ability to use his phrasing of the lyrics to fill his performances with aching sadness or exuberant joy, this song was made for him. It is one of my favorite songs of all time, but with each performance it seems to speak to you on different level depending on how each artists interpret the lyrics on a very personal level. There have been many theories as to the meaning of the lyrics. The truth may be that the meaning is what we bring to the table. If it speaks to your heart then what you think of, is what it is meant to mean.

This song was made for the format Austin chose for the channel: one voice combined with one or two instruments creates such an elegantly simple arrangement. It seems that he is really hitting his stride with his solo channel.

I love Austin's lower register so much. Yes his high notes are impressive and beautiful but on the lower end he sounds just great!
When you talked about Sebastian and the community with Austin and the others it made me think of something Tim said somewhere: The community among musicians in Nashville is about "What can we do for each other" instead of "What can you do for me" as it is in other places.
I think that mindset is what we profit from here and what we can feel in the music.

Only one verse? But this feels more like a work in progress than a finished product for any number of reasons. I can't help but wonder if Austin is feeling pressure to honor his commitment to "family" members to give them two new videos a month.

The first time I heard this song, I was a little girl back in the 1950s and it was sung by Dennis Day. Since then, I have heard Celtic Woman sing it (they did a good job), and, now, Austin. WOW! He did such a beautiful version, and his voice was spellbinding! Thank you for such a great reaction!

As much as I love when Austin lets go with his amazing high range, I also adore it when he shows off his lower register chest voice like in a song like this. He just needs to pick a longer song next time!

As you say, Austin has been getting better and better. In fact over the last year there has been (to my ear, anyway) a qualitative difference in his voice. Some tenors just develop their full voice late (he's about 35), maybe during quarantine, away from the fatigue of touring he's been able to rest the voice and work on technique, or maybe all those workouts - a running joke in Home Free because he stayed as skinny as ever - have finally developed more physical 'heft' to support a fuller tone and more vibrato.
Whatever, Sebastien and Steven Martinez have been perfect musical partners. You must listen to Austin's latest, "Bring him Home" from Les Mis, which I'm sure you would enjoy. And there are some of his own compositions, produced by Steven Martinez - The Rest of my Life and If I met You Now.
We could talk for hours about Austin and his remarkable ability to infuse any song with soul and emotion. I find him truly unique for this very reason. I've never come across another singer who does that.
So let's talk about Sebastien, just WOW! Like you said, he's starting you in from the first few gentle and emotional strikes on the keys and he supports Austin's voice as well as the song itself so perfectly throughout the song. Stunning, so stunning!

As for John Farnham (pronounced "Far'num"), I know you love great music & he's at the very top of the "food chain"! It's sad that his talent wasn't shared with the world until recently, thanks to youtube & also reaction videos. Like Home Free, everything John does is perfection! He was on his way to being an international star but left his tour to go back to Australia to be with his wife & kids so that makes me admire him even more. He & his wife, Jillian, have been married 48 years. He turned 72 on July 1st & is still a powerful singer known as "The Voice" & a kind, funny, beautiful man!
He & Jimmy Barnes ("Farnsy & Barnsy" - 2 of Australia's most prized artists) did a duet of "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" & is THE most powerful blues performance I've EVER seen & it will knock your socks off so I do hope you'll react to his music (between Home Free reactions, of course🤭)!
