I heard some guy yesterday in the pet store say to his daughter, "No, we don't like cats. They steal your soul at night." And you know, he's right. Last night my cat plopped herself right down on my chest and purred like a motorboat without me even petting her. She did steal my soul. And my heart, and my attention, and my ability to leave one hand free while I'm doing anything.
People like that dad are idiots, although I love your interpretation of that old wives tale.
***** Sad thing is the mother agreed with him. All the little girl was doing was looking at a kitten for adoption and he had to go and say that. All I did was roll my eyes and look at the cute kitten. ;) And thank you.

I always found it the most relaxing moment when my boy would cuddle up on my chest, or usually my side if I was just bumming around on the couch watching tv. The purrs, the purring nose poked in my ear.
Cats are better therapists than any doctor out there, cheaper too. Plus, their purrs and 'massaging' is a proven method to lower blood pressure.
And then you have morons who say cats steal souls, or black cats are evil witch craft vessels.

Cats are actually very loving. My cats both are very affectionate. Many aren't this "touchy." But here's a quick narrative: One of my friends has a cat whom she rescued. She thought that maybe he had been abused. He didn't like being touched and he was always grumpy and growling and sulking off to hide in a corner somewhere. She ended up being diagnosed with cancer. No worries; she's in remission now. But when she was emotionally down and going through chemo that cat didn't leave her side. Dogs are not the only loyal friends. Cats may be grumpier, more independent and standoffish by comparison, but they do love you. They just often have a different way of showing it.

But while it might have been funny, I decided to take it out because I feel like it disrupted the 'film,' like it would take people out of the sweetness and be like, "uh, Rob's in the bathroom, gross." Even though it's real life... I don't know. You all know what cats are like in the bathroom!

My cats do this too, however, they seem to think the bathroom is the one place they can never go...they'll stand outside the door and meow for you if you're in there but they'll never actually enter...

We kept the cats, they were there before my allergies so fuck yeah!!! they were awesome cats. I love cats and dogs. it is not exclusive.

Consider yourself lucky that in this whole universe, something has chosen YOU to love and want's to be cuddled, petted and loved by you, asking nothing else in return. Now that's the awesome part.
I just love cats so much. Most of my family are dog people and whenever they come to visit they say my cat is 'aggressive' but they just don't know how to deal with a cat. Also here is a tip for people who may be having trouble with cats: always let a cat (or even dog) smell your hand before interacting with them if you never met them before. Even if you did meet them before, to boost your trust between you two, let them smell your hand.
also fact: Cats are a form of meditation. It was seen that cat owners are most likely not to have heart attacks than dog owners.

Yeah, follows you like a puppy, huh? One of my cats is like that. Always jumping up on chair or the aquarium hood (it's wood and about 4 feet in the air) to get pets.

In the Spring of 2002 a feral cat gave birth to a litter under a tarp covering an old Moped in the corner of the fenced in back yard. I put out cat food on a paper plate for the mama kitteh and left a drip on the back yard spigot into a gallon ice cream bucket so that she would always have fresh water. 2 weeks later she moved the litter and I thought I would never see them again. :-(
Fast forward 6 months. I was in the back yard with my parents talking about what to do with the old Moped and a young female cat about 6 months old came into the yard and started rubbing on my leg meowing as if to say "I pick you!" (yes, she picked me to be her human). She was a bit scared to come into the house but after a little coaxing she finally entered and she is now a part of my family.
She is a very smart kitteh! She will meow at me to get my attention then lead me to where the "problem" is. To the cat box if it needs scooped, to the front door if she wants on the porch, to the bathroom if she wants the window open so that she could sun herself in the afternoon or to the kitchen when her food or water bowl is getting low. She has me VERY well trained and I would not want it any other way. :-)
Oh ... she is very affectionate too! You should hear her motor run when I brush her. I almost swear her purr motor is hemi powered with open headers! When she is not napping she refuses to leave my side and will follow me everywhere around the house. She will also curl up with me when I go to bed.

when i wake up in the morning one of my cats always follows me around, almost tripping me, meowing for pets. sometimes when i just look at her or call her name she starts purring.

Three of my four cats want all of me all of the time! Hobbs is 16 and loves to "help" me write papers for grad school. Skitl is 15 and was born on my bed. He looks at me with complete adoration. Rascal is a deaf 16 year old who I adopted last summer. He is fully convinced that he is a god and I am his co-god. Lucy is my little snow queen. She is 9 and was adopted at the same shelter as Rascal. I was only at the shelter to get Rascal, but Lucy reached out of her cage an grabbed my hand with her paw. Game over! Cats rule, humans drool.

It's all about raising them from infancy. If they grow up being loved and petted they'll be more loving towards you. You can't just get a grown cat from the pound. I know because I did it with mine.
Smasho8000 No, their mother was our cat. She gave birth to the kittens so I've actually been with them since they were born. But they're really adventurous, always running around, playing and trying to go out.
That is horrible information to spread! So many amazingly loving older shelter cats are desperate for homes. My cat was 5 when I got him from the shelter. He'd been there two years (thank goodness it was a no-kill shelter) and had been feral before that, but he was a known love bug in the shelter and almost instantly bonded with me. He's pretty much as loving and cuddly (and yes, needy) as the cat in this video.
Different cats have different personalities. I think if you're particular it's BETTER to get an older cat. They show their personalities much more than kittens, who are all just skittish little balls of fluff. Tell the shelter staff what kind of personality you're looking for in a cat, and listen to their recommendation. Don't just go for the one that looks the cutest.

Brazilian Chubby I have 2 cats at home who loves rubbing themselves on our feet and lemme just say they are VERY needy. Occasionally they lick our fingers or toes.
I have 3 of them! but they all seem to have their own reasons for wanting the attention. They are awesome, make life worth living!

Unfortunately I no longer have 3 cats. My big teddy bear boy died a month ago. It was very sudden and unexplained. He was fine, I let him out in the morning and he died in the garden a short time later. He didn't look like he suffered at all, the vet suspected a blood clot. It was devastating as you could imagine but having the other two made it a lot easier to get over! Always have more than one cat❣
No cat is that loving unless you're just as loving back - Kodi is SO lucky to have you; actually, you're both lucky - I just adopted a 5yr old girl tuxedo, I hope one day she is that loving. :)

I feel you~ I've come home to my cat last Friday to find that she's really mellowed out since the last time I visited. She's biting and scratching less, she plays wonderfully with my dog, and she even took a nap on my leg (with claws in my jeans, but that's fine).

I honestly think mine is even more needy than this sweet baby! We’ve had him since birth & bottle fed him. He’s an orange tabby with a bobtail & big green eyes. He was raised with my human babies who are now 17 & almost 20 years old! He’s almost 15, totally thinks he’s a human baby, TALKS all the time, acts like a kitten, does everything this kitty did and more, purrs the hardest and loves the best! ♥️😺 I wish I could show y’all how crazy he is! 🤣😂
Near the end I legit almost cried :'( he's SO beautiful and cozy

That is just the right level of needy.
I had a cat that needed to be physically in contact with me 24/7.
We would have battles that lasted for hours where I would toss her off me and she would immediately jump back on top of me.
God forbid I close the door. She would scratch and meow for hours. I would give in after about 3 hours.
If I leave a window or door open and leave the house she would follow me to school.
If she was locked in the house she would wait by the door until I came back.
How she knew my footsteps from all my neighbors is still a mystery.
Eventually, I got used to my cat perching on my shoulder ALL the time.
Got used to sleeping with a cat sleeping on my neck EVERY night.
She won every battle which ended up with me being exhausted at about 3AM at night.
Got used to her ambushing me from the corner or behind me. She knew a frontal attack would allow me to block her.
She would climb along my spine where my arms cant reach her.
I would try to shack her off but her nails would grab my clothing and skin.
Never could even go to the bathroom by myself.
Closing the door was forbidden.
Even when I was making love to my girlfriend she had to be on top of me.
And here is the kicker.
When people tried to pick her up or pet her she would be very unfriendly ?!?!
When my girlfriend tries to cuddle with her she would scratch.

That cat must go insane when left alone in the house ... poor little nutter.
That was my Roopy. He was exactly like that, and the bathroom was the funniest. Living alone i have no reason to close the bathroom door. When the stray living in a boat next door decided to adopt me (i named him Roopy) i didn't think i had to start closing it. He was just like this cat, he had to be ñext to me at all times and wanted to be pet non stop. He even followed me to the throne and sat there 4 feet away while i tried to do my business. When i started closing the door he just meowed and scratched it non stop til i opened it.
I don't know what makes some cats like this but i gotta say, i really miss that cat. He was my buddy

Whether a guy likes cats, honestly says so much about them as a person. Cats will only act this way if the guy is kind, gentle, loving and caring :) That's why girls like guys who like cats ^_^ They are true men who are worth it :) Cats are like emotional lightning rods, and if a cat is acting out chances are the owners are rough with it or mean (even if they don't realize) and then they end up hating cats. So guys, if you are a cat person, that makes you better then every other guy out there. You understand how to have a bond with nature's finest, a cat, and it's literally because you are a great person :)

My cat is exactly the same, follows me everywhere even to the bathroom and doesn't do anything without me being there eg. litter box, eating and drinking. She was a stray cat and I took her in so that's why she's so needy! ❤

+Kayana Koe Trim the claws carefully if indoor kitty, or get a decent scratching area. The teeth and such are how cats play and learn to hunt, remember they see us as big cats. The hierarchy so it is how they roll. :P My kitty is a gentle kitty and even she gets frisky but usually she gently nibbles she is just sharing her soul with me. sigh, love her so much. =(^._.^)=
Dawn R Even if I trim them the teeth are still a problem, I go to praise her for biting her toys and she bites me instead, I literally struggle to play with her because she insists her teeth are needed every time.

She had an itch and I literally had a hole in my right hand inside near the bendy part between my thumb and forefinger. I didn't scold her though she was trying to nibble an itch and got me instead.

That isn't what they typed. You misunderstood the comment. They typed: Even if I trim them, meaning the claws. The teeth are still a problem. Their sentence was a run on I admit but they were not speaking about trimming teeth they simply put two comments in the same sentence so it can be easily misunderstood if you don't read it carefully. :P

My home used to have 23 cats coming and going at one time. Although, I think my dad used to 'pick them up' from the surrounding neighbourhoods. I think I was too young to remember this, though.
