Went through multiple "free" converters to transform old home videos from DVDs to MP4 and this one was finally actually free that really works. And quality seems at first test to be even better than in the original VOB. Thank you very much.
Thank you TIJ. The copyright bypass file didn't download right away (I had to right click and open link in new tab) because my computer thought it potentially harmful. But when I dropped it in the handbrake folder, WOW! My rip went perfectly!
Thank You so much. This was such a big help. I just purchased a Samsung DVD Recorder, to transfer video from my DV Camera, but I needed to convert the format to use Premiere CS6; however, I didn't want to spend any more money. I was so glad to see it worked.
I did this recently and it saved as an mp4 like I wanted buttttt the issue was it didn’t copy the movie itself it copied everything so the mp4 was just like a regular dvd with the menu and everything therefore I couldn’t play it on my hard drive separately as it wasn’t registered as just a simple mp4… if that makes sense… I only clicked on the one file the movie itself but it did the whole thing… any tips ?
I don’t think there is a way to do that. However, if you convert them all individually, you can then combine them in a video editing software such as Windows Movie Maker.
You should up the audio quality from 160mbps (@5:41) to something higher / better quality. If the recording is important and you want great quality, that number should be 256 or 320. This video quickly glosses over that. Why save anything at low quality?
I have made a dvd from Adobe of my own material. I lost the original videos, and want to edit that production. Is there a way I can turn the dvd back to original content?
Sounds so complicated for just wanting to change the file format for one DVD of my home movies which is about 10 minutes long. I just wanted to be able to copy it to my desktop so I can put it on UA-cam.
DumboFab DVD Ripper is an easy-to-use yet powerful DVD processing tool to convert DVD, ISO and Video_TS folder to MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, HEVC and other formats you want. It is built with powerful decryption technology for (DVD region code, UOPs, CSS encryption, Disney's fake etc.) copy protected Video_TS folder, ISO images and encrypted movie DVDs, even those Disney DVD movies with X-project DRM.
My results: Handbrake v1.2.2 fails to read encrypted DVDs even with the decoder. V1.3.0 does not run at all (crashes). v1.4.1 does not support the decoder. Basically useless.

I’d check the DVD in a DVD player (or anything that plays DVDs) to check it runs okay. Could be an issue with the DVD. Alternatively, the error messages will come along with a code so search those online to see what the issue could be. Let me know how you get on

Thanks for the video! However, doesn’t seem to be working on my mac... when the encode is finished it is a ‘Unix-file’ what do I have to do with that? Thanks in advance ;)
Did you convert to a MP4 format? I’m not familiar with the Macs and I don’t know much about Unix files. Make sure the format is set to MP4 and the file extension is filmname.mp4 Let me know how you get on
Hello, I tried to rip a DVD with Handbrake: It seems to only do one segment at a time and the extension is M4V, instead of MP4 which i choose, why? Some DVDs are ripped and not clear at all. HELP. Thanks in advance.
Hi there. Check the chapters that are selected. It will give you a duration for what is being converted. Change the extension in the file name before converting to MP4. It’s a glitch with handbrake but if you change from m4v to MP4 (ie: tijeducation.m4v to tijeducation.mp4) it will convert as MP4.

It works really well. Thank you so much!
Cant believe the difference in the final encode speed with when using the cpu for x264 versus the nvenc encoder it went from 30 minutes to 6 minutes
