- By popular demand, here is a collection of all my full-length documentaries on the first crusades in a single mega-compilation documentary. As a bonus, the compilation starts with an all-new presentation on the background history of the Crusades period. Drawing on source material from Latin, Arabic, and Greek sources, we look at the history from all perspectives. The Crusades were one of the most significant and fascinating epochs of the medieval era. Involving a clashes and encounters of many kingdoms, cultures, and personalities, Crusades history plunges the student into some of the most riveting aspects of the medieval world. This compilation highlights the deeds of some of the period's biggest characters, like Godfrey of Bouillon, Bohemond, Kilij Arslan, Zengi, Niklot, Saladin, Frederick Barbarossa, Richard the Lionheart and more!

I agree. I love this channel
Agreed. What a great job you have done.
Seriously, great job 👏
Me too
I have no idea how I ended up being interested this much in the crusades but I’m so glad that I found this channel
Glad you're here!
I would think, in this modern time. With the rejection of Christianity .. these stories are very interesting.
Me: I have to be asleep in an hour
Also me: I need to watch this 4 hour compilation of videos I already watched individually

I’ve watched and listened to hundreds of hours of content and this is my all time favorite compilation… Got goosebumps imagining taking up the crusade after a holy sermon, Richard’s charge, etc. Great job, thank you for putting this together!
Wow, thank you!
A great amount of good work went into this, thank you.
Man...i'm from Portugal and i have to say that i absolutley love this era of humanity! I think that the Templars are the most elite soldiers to ever exist, i love this! You're the man!
I dunno, I think they were extremely dumb and misguided, fighting massive wars based on skydaddies telling them what to do. Religious warfare is one of humanity's dumbest accomplishments.
@@globaladdict dumb and misguided doesn’t mean ish if you’re good at lobbing off heads with a Halberd 🤣 even if it’s in the name of sky daddy
@@globaladdictWithout religion my dear we would still be hunter’s and gatherers. Ever heard of Göbekli Tepe? Radio Carbon dating put’s this structures at around 10k-12kBC! Why we’re they erected? Because of Religious beliefs. Only this this uniting believe was able to make people build beautiful structures. They hade to evolve and start agriculture to be able to feed the builders and priest class. Else we would still be in the stone age.
@@globaladdict we live in a world of constant distraction and unmeasurable waste of potential and you would sit here and make fun of these men’s lives and their reasoning behind devoting their lives for their faith, and you dismiss it as skydaddy. I never took time to learn about the Crusades but heard on numerous ocassion how evil we Catholics are because of the Crusades. Recently, I stumbled upon Bryan Mercers UTube channel Catholic Truth, where he explains the Crusades. Lets just say I have been enlightened
This shows how important it is to be educated on things and not just hear things from one side

This is gold - thanks :)
Brilliant. A major contribution. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm not a Christian now but I was raised as one, never really learned about the crusades in church classes and I always had a generally negative idea of them. After watching this from start to finish my idea of them has completely changed. The stories of the first and third crusades in particular are epic! There is an old movie from the late 1930s about the crusades with Richard the Lionheart which is what sparked my interest to look further into the actual history. does anyone know if there are any more good movies about the crusades? any recommendations appreciated, Thankyou for covering this amazing story in such detail, almost felt like I was watching a movie watching this! a movie loaded with actual history!
You definitely have to watch “Kingdom of Heaven”. It’s not just completely accurate but it’s one of the best medieval movies ever made. And the cast is incredible

I happen to always fall asleep to this then wake up in time to always hear to the 3rd crusade so I know everything about the 3rd crusade but not the others 😂😂
Masterpiece 🎉
I wonder if we could see a television serious following a die hard warrior family where we get to see each generation in their own crusade
Awesome, love having a single video. The only thing I would ask on these compolations is could you add chapter markers, so we could easily find where in the video are the parts of previous videos? |---||------------||-----------||-----------||------|
That would be super handy.
Sure thing, I'll add those! And thanks!
@@RealCrusadesHistory One question why is it that two of your videos that I wanted to watch are nowhere to be found and I really wanted to watch them one of them was about how dracula got his name and the other was about the Visigothic pre Islamic intellectual brilliance

This is a nice brake from Roman history...
What did these folks do for food.? While they in route and after they would battle?
What game are you guys using for the cinematics?

Jesus: Why do you love the Vikings, the English child killed by a martyr?
I'd like to get this on DVD or Blu Ray. I'm not a big reader. I'd get it from Amazon if you had it there. Apparently nobody puts their amazing Crusaders videos on disc for Amazon.
It’s on UA-cam for free?
I love that you use bannerlord for these
Europeans were able to do so much with so little... Marching against an empire hundreds - thousands of miles away, outnumbered in foreign hostile lands, they exerted so much influence. They conquered fortified cities, held them, and we're able to prolong their fall for decades. It's unbelievable what they did.
Holy ghost is terrible
Considering how the Byzantine Empire acted durin crusades 1-3, You can see the reason Constantinople was sacked during the 4th crusade.
Byzantines: we dont want you westerners here, in fact, screw you guys!
Crusaders: hold on, this whole operation was your idea
Sign me up for the 4th crusade, yeee haw,get some!
A century long war sounds completely unfathomable in this day and age. Wild era.
You have to just realise how much slower everything was, marching across whole countries, rowing over oceans and having to stop to rest for almost half of each day. Then there's the supply lines. Its a wonder war could be waged at all
This war is still raging to this day

Are there any records, or has anyone theorised, about the Christian pilgrims, who were entertained, by Saladin at Jerusalem?
I’m sure that would’ve been most intriguing.
I feel that had Richard planned for a longer campaign, he could’ve defended his gains, organised water supplies and captured Jerusalem, within a few years longer than he stayed in the Holy Lands. Then the Crusaders could’ve conquered Ascalon and launched campaigns for conquests in Egypt.
This would’ve taken many years for a successful outcome, perhaps in 10 years Richard might’ve been hailed as Pharaoh, or even an Emperor.
Richard’s Achilles heel was his cowardly bad brother, bad King John. It was Richard’s desperation to ensure the security of the Angevin Empire that caused him to quit the Crusade prematurely. Along with the constant bickering and back biting from the French Crusaders.
Although he did secure a successful campaign, Richard only partially completed his full Crusade mission.
The battle of Jaffa should’ve emboldened Richard, his army and his Crusader allies, to have a solid crack at capturing Jerusalem.
This may well have taken up to 5 years to accomplish, but he would’ve better spent that time doing this, rather than being captured and ransomed by the Germans.
When Richard made King Phillipe of France swear on Relics, not to trouble his lands. I suspect that Richard had a thought in the back of his mind, that he wanted to war against Phillipe and have the sanction of the Church on his side.
Perhaps the Crusaders should’ve split into two armies at Jaffa? Richard to besiege Ascalon and the French and Hugh of Burgundy to besiege Jerusalem.
Personally, I would’ve switched to a defensive strategy, strengthening and consolidating the coast cities and towns and built aqueducts and canals to bring fresh water to Jaffa and Acre.
Allowing 18 months to 2 years for this to be completed and I would’ve petitioned the Pope and Christendom, to send more armies and supplies to the Holy Land. Then either besieged Jerusalem, or Ascalon and then Jerusalem afterwards.
I think Richard was somewhat impatient and aggravated, by the constant adversities that he faced, from his supposed Allies.
Why did Richard sail to Italy and then travel through the Holy Roman Empire, putting himself at risk to then be captured? Why didn’t he sail, all the way back to his homeland? Or even stopped to visit the Pope at Rome to gain some extra support and guidance?
Without John and backstabbing allies, Richard would have most certainly taken and held Jerusalem. Who knows what other victories and lands he could have taken against the Muslims had fate given him the time without having to deal with homeward pressures.
The seas for ships back then were very dangerous is probably why he opted for the land route on his attempted return.
Nah.
@@piercebrosnan9528 Or, for that matter, if Barbarossa had not died before arriving and his army not disbanded.

Never been reliqious but the times now make me almost want to become a Christian...not because I believe the bible as interpreted by most but because of what it has done for my people and my country, the battles they fought in the past and the bravery shown...
Christianity is dying and if that happens what is left over?.....
We the younger ones should stand with our elders and forefathers and reclaim our Western identity.
