Sometimes you get what you pay for, but other times you’re paying for hype (aka super cheap). In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro , and Ollie says if you can spot quality you can find super deals and detect items that are overpriced.
    Quality Indicators
    1. Highly finished jean cuff seams
    2. YKK zipper
    3. Durable polo seams
    4. Details - take time and money
    5. Fabric - how does it feel (soft, stretchy, doesn’t lose its shape)
    6. Shoe leather and how the upper is attached to the sole
    7. Dress shirt shoulder fabric is lined-up perfectly
    8. Suit functioning button holes, kissing buttons, and pick stitching
    9. Tee shirt collar
    10. Explore different brands - and don’t fall into the mindset that expense or logos equate to high quality

I m a textile engineering student specialized in intelligent and technical textiles and i am impressed by the effort you put on your content. The tips you mentioned are pure gold. Besides, those details about the polo-finishing process are true because even in the biggest clothing industries, the quality control office disgard those flaws to work faster knowing that the quality and the prejudice of their brand will bypass them. i've been subscribed to your channel even before Tiege Hanley memes and i love your work!

More so after it is washed a few times.
Most new fabric contains a small amount of starch, to make it easier to cut accurately and machine. But when the item is washed, it should only be slightly softer. NOT shrink, stretch, or fall apart.
It can be quite difficult to tell the difference on items in the shop.

The problem with that argument is that you can end up being a little all fur coat and no nickers. Typically a person with an interest in the pursuit of aesthetic and quality will follow that in their whole outfit. I’m all for saying that a 200 dollar Gucci belt is silly, but a genuine leather belt with a clasp made properly may well cost 100, but you do tend to use them every day for years on end. It’s the same with socks, you can bash an expensive pair all you like and say no one sees them or they don’t matter right up until you put a real pair on made from fantastic materials and you think fuck me I got that wrong.

I don't think many of us would enjoy watching a video about that(I centrally wouldn't), that kind of urban style is the opposite of what the type of style his channel is focused on. I find Hype Beast to be tacky, overpriced and ridiculous looking in general, something that if you're over the age of 25(I assume most of this channel's audience actually is) you shouldn't wear. Check Jose Zuniga's channel is you're into that kind of stuff, his channel and its content is focused more on style for younger people. My two cents.

    • @Griff_3
      @Griff_3 4 роки тому +2

Dylan Dearinger Ykk are common for jeans fly zipper but if they are used in a jacket or bag they cost a lot more. So they are a sign of quality that the company actually thought about the zippers rather than throwing no name zips. Riri on the other hand is a clear sign of premium high fashion so is Lampo and Talon. If they used those they spent more than they needed to so you can expect everything else to be premium as well as a high price tag. An example would be John Elliott he only uses riri and you can see the price reflects that.

Not all supreme are bad quality, I wear work pants everyday, my supreme work pants outlast dickies, supreme heather grey T-shirts, I have about 20 shirts I rotate it everyday to work on cars and warehouse work for 12-15yrs, they are still in great condition. Not everyone buys supreme for its name.

Fabric quality depends on the GSM of fabric. Quality of the yarn is also important for the quality of the fabric. For eg. In cotton yarn Mercedised gased combed cotton is and also count of cotton yarn are important.

Interesting tips but why wasn't anything mentioned about the fabric itself, e.g. if the polo is made from Wool or Acrylic fiber? This makes a big difference not only on how it feels on the skin. But also if it warms you or not.

Goodfellow brand jeans have YKK Zippers and the finish down the leg, along with chain stitching on the inside of the hem. They’re literally anywhere from $22-$33 dollars. I don’t think price has much to do with it, even George jeans from Walmart have YKK zippers and they’re less than $20. Brands just seem to pick and choose what they want to do with the jeans no matter what the price is. Levi’s are more expensive and don’t even have any of those features, they don’t use YKK zippers , cheaper stitching down the leg, hem isn’t chain stitched. Companies are weird like that. 🤷🏻‍♂️
