As a Discover costumer I would not be happy with this deal.
why
@@loganfignewtonEasy, Capital one Costumer service is not the best. Discover has a well superior costumer service and app. As a consumer I will not be happy having Capital one manage my Discover accounts. At least that’s my experience. As a stock holder it will probably make me money.
he doesn't actually a reason. Discover doesn't even offer much besides their ONE "Discover It" card. Discover's primary market are people new to credit@@loganfignewton
As a consumer, your options are growing ever more limited for credit
Good! You don't need it
but how can we look glamorous in front of our peers and social media? we need to buy more things we dont need
Having too many credit isn't good
@jpsion Due to stagnant wages and rising inflation life for a lot of people has become unaffordable. Which is why a lot of people in lower income brackets have to resort to credit card debt to cover basic necessities, and while savings are at an all time low credit card debt has skyrocketed. I find it funny that she says it shows the consumer is doing better when it's completely the opposite
Seriously? There are a lot of banks out there.
I left Bank of America after 15 years to bank with Discover. Best decision I ever made. I hope they don’t merge.
I 😍 my Discover credit 💳 for the rewards and hope Capital One doesn't botch this
that is the longest way I've ever heard someone say "no"
I hope it doesn't go through, capital one is no good
Only if you don’t pay your debt to them.
And if you’re not good at using credit cards.
My curious question is if a consumer has an account with both Capital One and Discover, how does this potential merger affect them?
Discover is getting absorbed by capital one so there you go. Lol
You'll probably keep both cards for a while and they'll slowly convert your discover cards into Capital One cards.
@@nova8585Yup. I only have Cap1 because they acquired ING Direct. I use to really like there service
I hope the credit line remains the same after the merge in that situation.
Good question. Will Discover use the Mastercard or Visa logo? Or. Will they maintain their identity, separate from the two? I use to have a Discover card. I liked it and regrett not having it now. However. I couldn't use it everywhere like Mastercard or Visa. So the anex could be an advantage
Because consolidation is always such a benefit for consumers. What a farce.
Break up monopolies, trusts, and big banks! This action would only lead to abusing power and making everyday American life worse. Big NO!
Lol, only if you live above your means. I've known the stress of credit cards, thus this merger has zero effect on my life.
@@thedude5040maybe not directly but it will impact the economy as a whole.
@patrickm6012 why? Think about it. Credit card interest rates needs to cover short term losses on treasury bonds due to the rate of change in the federal funds rate. Thus credit card interest is going to be high. Smaller credit unions may not of had as much exposure and thus can offer better rates. Again I fail to see why this merger is a net negative for consumers.
@@thedude5040 except you don’t need to live above your means to be negatively affected by a reduction in market competition. Wtf is your thought process like actually???
@@Artdeco407 its market competition for my debt. Since I have reoriented my life to live without debt then a business in the market for my debt has no effect on my life. It's the equivalent of two cigarette companies merging. Since I dont smoke and never will, the supposed reduced market competition has no effect on me.
It means big trouble.... Pay em off and get rid of em.
No it doesn’t..if you use credit cards responsibly it’s not going to change anything…and the perks you get cannot be found using cash.
But I have a feeling you know that already you just have another reason for hating them.
Why pay off a discover card you owe on when they failed and can't remain solvent?
Did you make any agreements with capitol one?
@@commonsense504
They haven’t failed nor are they insolvent, and even if they were it doesn’t absolve you of your responsibility to repay any cc debt you have with them, unless of course you don’t mind ruining your credit.
Duh.
If it happens I will close my discover account and tell Capital one FU!
Why? How can that negatively affect you?
People with discover cc debt, you might want to pay it off before this merger 😬
No more f*ing consolidation! When are we going to learn this f*ing lesson and stop playing with fire! 😤
I have had my Discover card since 1988...what will happen to my credit score...its the oldest credit card I have?
My concern as well
Yes it is my longest card as well. I had it since 1998. I used to bank with Capital One and it was horrible so not happy about this development.
Pay off the credit card *EVERY MONTH*
wow shes really good at talking a lot and saying nothing important!
Corporate greed another monopoly as the government turns a blind eye to
My discover card is my only 0% APR card in my wallet. Also the only one I really use. I'm sure my rate quickly changes after merge.
The Savor One card is 0% apr for the first 12 months. Ignorant people complaining out of ignorance.
@@carltonbanks5470 You can a lot of times get promotions of 0% on existing accounts when asked about with Discover.
I have both and ironically, I only use my Discover card.
If they get their banking part as well, their savings/checking/CD's, etc are mostly equal.
Discover is my oldest and largest line if credit. How will this impact my credit score?
a great deal - I can't wait to see if go through
No. Both should compete harder against each other.
Interesting. I have both and I have had the best relationship w/ both, of all the cards.
Yes It's A Blessing To Come Togerher As Unity LA Consina Roberts Shareholders Bestie,,Canada Finest .
Capital one is crap
No credit card is good if they charge more to use it at stores and also when they charge a monthly fee, is like paying to use your money or paying to work, this makes no sense.
Capital one is basically just trying to get discover customer service and gut the rest
10 years from now, she will be in congress. She non-answered his question like a professional politician! Her lack of consumer benefit information was a complete waste of time!!
This credit card deal is so that when Americans default on their debt, the company is so large that it will get a taxpayer bail out.
Bruh I barely got a discover to not use them
She didn't explain anything. Get someone that knows what's going on.
This merger will make them bigger on the credit side (19%) then Chase (16%). Plus on the banking side that would merge Pluse network which is a merger with Discover of yesteryear.
It'll now be called, Discover One. Or. Capitol Discover.
Discover Capital
Any synergy? Doubt it. They’ll need to maintain their relationship with visa and Mastercard to keep their card business the size it is now. If they move all to discover network just to save transaction fees they’ll lose everyone preferring visa/mastercard and just drop from #1 spot combined to 3rd or 4th.
I like capital one. I have a checking account with them no overdraft fees unlike Wells Fargo
So basically you gave a bunch of BS on negative sides and a bunch of propaganda on positive sides
I will leave Discover I will not do business with capital one. Job loss, fees and surcharges.
no
Capitol One is the best for traveling without paying the high annual fees.
The race to total insolvency is sure heating up between capitol one and wells fargo huh?
its their business
Rich gotta rich.
Capital One isn’t gonna use Discover network. They would lose many customers if they did.
Oligopoly.
this is a terrible deal for anyone but the ultra elite.
All I heard was how this benefits each company to merge into one giant conglomerate. And very to little aspect on how this benefits current consumers. All I heard was credit cards are going to be slim to non in the near future and Apple credit is going to rule the world.
You know that Apple uses Goldman Sacs as the issuing bank and Master Card as the payment network right?
That's wild, I did not. Figured they might of been doing there own “in-house” financing options for there own credit card considering they literally rule the market for tech, I mean they literally made the market change for them when they introduced the original IOS desktop to the consumer.

Discover will be ruined!!! Specially got a Discover because I don’t like Capital One!! Hope this doesn’t merge!
Riveting interview...I feel much more informed now, about what she said 😂.
Guess ill go make another cup of coffee to wake from the nonsensical word salad I just heard.

No one cares.
#Facts: of course @SenWarren would be against the Merger between @CapitalOne and @Discover when this merger is all about the consumer. Plus together they would compete with the likes of @Visa and @Mastercard. This Deal is Amazing
