      Thank you Galty !! As much as I love fishing It can be quite punishing at times trying to have content ready every single week. Especially during winter and early spring when the fishing shuts down a bit and the cond are freezing cold. I really appreciate the ongoing support !!

    Not even that cold in my freezer, hi from Darwin, picking off flatties up here on the savage gear 2.5 inch flick baits & 1/0 HWS, lucky to see them bigger than 50cm up here.

      Thanks 👍 Yeah The vanford 1000 has been used heaps the last 6 months, its a lot of fun catching on a reel so light and it has an epic drag sound

    These motorised kayaks seem a great way to avoid registration and regulations. Well done. Even my little tender needs to be registered with all the gear if its used away from the boat.
    Wonder how long this will last for?

    hey Alan, love your videos - just wondering why dropping your leader weight/size would increase the chance of a catch?
    Cheers,
    Will

      Fish can be really finicky, ive had many years chasing species like bream on soft plastics. On those quiet days when the bite isnt happening dropping leader size helps to build the fishes confidence and increase catche rates. Ive also noticed over many years that I will always catch more fish the lighter I go.

    Hello Alan, that is a good flathead. I do a bit of land based fishing around Geelong and I often see quite large, what I believe are Morwong just chilling in ~50cm of water. From what I can find they are weed eater and quite hard to catch with a lure. I wanted to ask have you ever caught these on soft plastics?

    • @frednurks8528
      @frednurks8528 Рік тому +2

      Hi , I am not Alan but can assure you that Mormong will take plastics. I have caught several over the past years at Portarlington harbor. My go to plastic is Berkeley turtle back worms in pumpkin seed and 1/8 jig head. Like you have observed, I have also seen morwong congregate in numbers in the shallows. I must say though after eating a few I would not recommend them. Catch and release is the way I treat this species now. Happy fishing.

      @@frednurks8528 Cheers, I do have some turtleback worms in my arsenal, I'll run them past next time I see em.

      Yep 100% it will be morwong, you get some huge ones in the shallows luderick aswell in that area. They are tricky to catch on plastics but i have had some success with 4 inch turtleback worms and slim swimz lathered in s-factor lightly weighted worked really slowly. They are tricky to catch but epic when you land one as they fight well and are good sizes. I hope that helps.

    Where I fish in westernport the currents are strong so finding hard to keep soft plastics on bottom, even with 3/8th oz(9gram) jig head.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Рік тому

      Thats 100% right, what you need to do is fish during slack tide with plastics or pick areas that have less current. Mid tide forget it as the current is so strong and resort back to 10 ounce sinkers

    Hey Alan could you give me some tips for snapper and bream for the gamer school. I use the grubs and I can never seem to catch bream or snapper.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Рік тому +1

      Have to fish very light. 1-0 jig heads usually around 1/20 and 4-6 lb leader. I find that makes a big difference

      Its the snowfinch, very versatile. Shorter length which is great on the yak and 2-4 kg so can target so many different species
