When he was playing Drew was one of my favourite Union stars and in interviews he always seemed so calm and confident, so it was a big surprise to hear him talk so openly about his struggles with anxiety. Thanks for a great interview.
On Drew's point of when touring you live and learn and grow together. I think that's what's amazing about club rugby. I don't know about league but in my union team we all do that anyway. We're not a good team by any stretch but we're a family and I think that's what makes rugby (or really whatever sport) so amazing. That was such a great comversation
Drewy played against some world class outside backs when he was young and held his own. Some of those Auckland blues teams and the South African teams had some lightning blokes.
it's not lol the fatigue factor and far higher tackle count in league as well as the initial contact in hit ups trumps rugby in physicality. Rugby is a tough sport but not as tough as league.
@@davidtaliai996 yawnnnnn league counts 4th man into tackles union only counts who they deemed to of made the tackle the stats are inflated always have been
@@gus-qj2mplol nah mate whether its a one man or four man tackle the initial team total counted is based off a single tackle. Rugby total team tackles rarely make it past 100 per team. Its around 350 per team a game in league. You know it too cause most of the time players are waiting behind the try line for a penalty kick, 5 scrum resets and lineout breaks in rugby the ball is only in play for about 40 mins in rugby. FOH
@@davidtaliai996 Well thats completely false I work in sports data league records every man in un until the 4th and all 4 go to the teams tackle count. Last year super rugby games averaged 275 total tackles a game...its very rare a team makes less than 100 tackles
halfway through and i am just so impressed with how candid and honest Drew is about his life and career. incredible interview.
Ay bro this will be my first watch, as a rugby fan I'm really loving the unionxleague content

Rooster, what a legend 💥
i always found union more "brutal" than league, the way players throw themselves head first into a ruck
It's probably the same, but defs more spinal and neck concerns with union
