  • This video is the traditional "cab ride" along the length of the main line on my Clear Lake Timber Company railroad (HO scale). It was shot using a GoPro camera sitting on either a flat car or an empty log car behind the locomotive, Heisler #4. The camera view is offset to one side or the other due to the need to keep the camera from hitting the scenery or the switchstands on one side or the other. This kind of video does give some views that one cannot get standing in the aisle. The train, with its geared logging locomotive, does not move very fast, but the layout is not very big, either! Due to switchbacks, there are a couple of places where the video pauses so the camera can be turned around to face the other way. I hope you enjoy the ride.

    Carl - you have definitely captured the Northwest logging atmosphere! Just waiting for an owl to swoop into the field of view.

      Thanks for the kind words. Thankfully, the small size of this layout allowed it to be "completed' in "only" 5 years. So, a bucket-list item checked off! Carl

    Enjoyed the Ride up the Mountain. Maybe one day when its Timbered out the Line can become an Excursion Line taking Passengers up and down the Mountain by being pulled by the Geared Locomotives.

    Absolutely beautiful layout Carl! And the work and attention to detail is over the top! If you don’t mind me asking how deep is the layout? I think you said it was 9 ft per side. Just curious. Thanks for sharing this

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd  7 місяців тому +1

      The layout sections are 3' deep front to back. It's a long reach to the back, but luckily hasn't been needed very often. Yes, the overall dimensions are 9x9', with two 3x6 sections and a corner module that is 3x3.

    Brilliant video and layout. Could you tell me the model and make of the GoPro? Looks high def and good depth of field

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd  3 роки тому

      Sure. It's labeled as "Black 7". I'm not a big expert on GoPros, but I don't think it is anything special in the line, and there are newer (more expensive) models. Maybe even better??
