The AG can't find any evidence? How about homes that aren't built to spec and NO evidence of repairs? No evidence of responses by the owner of the business. Sounds like someone is covering for him.
Part of the issue is we pay for permits but nobody is held accountable when they approve a build but it actually isn't to standards in a regular build. So people buy manufactured and Modular with the belief that the Government has done the job they should. The other issue that they do not discuss in this, is it the company who built the home or the Contractor who sold the house? Usually that is 2 different things. Nationwide built our modular but we bought it through a "contractor" who built our basement foundation, set it up and built additional exterior things for us like steps, deck, etc...
@@ridingtheroad185 The permit issue is my problem - if I have to pay for a permit it ought to be a sort of insurance against violations otherwise, what is the use of paying the fees? To act as another way to fund cities?
I think someone should look into whether the business owner contributes to the AG’s campaign or not. I have feeling there is a link somewhere between them two. Or the AG only cares about cases that make the news.
Thank you for reporting on this and thank you for making the lawsuit. It is very important that each one of us take a stand against the wrong that is done.
I'll give the guy credit that filed the lawsuit. He actually seems to have it together. None of the over the top theatrics.. just facts as he see's them. I hope he receives an appropriate remedy.
This video needs to be shared every day by hundreds of people.get this builder in the public eye and shame the heck out of him. Get the word out. Monsters like this should never have a business!
This is robbery, the builder should be prosecuted. An investigation into the AG office might reveal why the complaints were closed and dismissed quickly. It’s very suspicious the builder is still in business.
After moving from CA to Oklahoma I have found this kind of fraud to be rampant in the state of Oklahoma. Between contractors and home builders- there are not enough regulations in order to give us, the consumer, any leverages and certainly not enough rights to bring a case against them. After being ripped off by multiple contractors, we have learned how to fix things and do things ourselves but I find the lack of recourse very troubling in this state. Im sorry, I understand not wanting too much regulation but by having little regulations it causes the consumer to bear all consequences and be left high and dry while contractor moves on to greener pastures. Please legislators do better by your constituents!!
So the supreme court’s ruled you can’t live on the streets in a car or a RV but I guess faulty homes is ok ,where the politicians at now this system is out of order for everyone except these branches of government
To make that comparison equal; the person must be on their own land and pay the land use tax. If they are on such land, you can do all of those things.
We had this same problem with Oakwood Homes. A bunch of families including us sued. Naturally as soon as we looked like we were going to win Oakwood went bankrupt. We were stuck with a home with numerous serious issues. The electric was the scariest. We lived like Green Acres! Don’t use the toaster if the kitchen lights are on. Don’t ever use the GFCI in the bathroom. Replaced lightbulbs every few days. Plumbing not hooked up right or not at all. Etc etc etc. Took 10k to fix. I hope these people fare better!
Corruption as normal. This has obviously been going on a long time, by design, and this company needs to be criminally prosecuted. The AG needs to do the right thing. We can't stand for this BS in Oklahoma.
As many people as there are that are affected by this. I would imagine that they could get enough people together to qualify for a class action suit. But I don’t understand why the state isn’t doing a thing about it. It makes me wonder who that guy has in his pocket?
Thank you for covering this story. I feel for these customers. The dishonesty is evident and well documented in the news story. Helps me know to take my money elsewhere.
If you paid an inspector to look at the house and see what needed repair then contact him. And get his insurance company. They will have to pay for the repairs.
This is absolutely outrageous... Somebody's in denial and it's not the public. The AG is complicit in the corruption. It's hard to get Justice when you have a system that continually encourages criminals to violate every civil and constitutional right that the public has... To seek justice when harm is done by one of your contractors here in Oklahoma.
Chances are the city and inspectors are in on it, if your insured and have all the legit paperwork to say everything is fine I say let the house burn down/collapse and collect your insurance... I'm sure the insurer has deeper pockets than you to go after the builder, inspector and city.
And when they get it to the site where they going to set it up the square tubing for the heat ducts are not connected anymore and very loose in some places
As a former Oklahoman I can say with complete confidence to any consumer don’t waste your time seeking help from the Oklahoma AG or any other state agency in seeking help against a business. The primary consumer law in Oklahoma is Caveat Emptor. They don’t believe in no stinkin’ guvmint in that backward wasteland. Best day in my life was the day I moved out of that cesspool.
@sarahann530 if you do research on them they can't. Buyer beware can and does apply to anything. No matter how much you hope the government is protecting you.
The AG office is supposed to help consumers. However, now, many AGs offices are so dam interested in class action lawsuits whereas they join other AGs, and their staff is consumed with these big class actions in hopes that they get big money supposedly for the "state" and have "saved the taxpayer" as we always hear. Hell, the taxpayer never receives that money. It never saves the taxpayer, this money seems to be used in hiring 3rd party attorney buds to continue class actions, and the cash just flows back and forth. The consumer has been forgotten. What the hell has happened to the AGs offices? They used to focus on the consumer, taxpayer, and voter! They build these resumes of class actions and use it during election year. Example: "Look how much money we got for the opioid crisis class actions!" AGs go after Pharma! - not the open borders and not the street drug dealers! Does that make sense? No, because pharma and medical entities (legal) are an easy target! That does not impact the consumer except the innocent cancer treatment patients in a negative way. Go after these 3rd world country pharmas for recalls on meds and actually hurting patients! Hell, just close the dam border, which will resolve 90% of fentanyl!
Thank you. Was considering buying from them. Not anymore. Not at all. Not one little bit matter of fact I think I'm going to let other folks know. Thank you
What about inspections for every level of the build and installation. As a real builder i deal with real inspections with real consequences for shabby work. “Manufactured home”, “modular home”, both are just fancy ways to say “trailer”. Some of the in-laws got one talking about how it’s a “modular home”. 😂 I said “did they tow it over here and then take off the wheels.?…then it’s a trailer.” 😂 I thought of getting one too when I bought my house, one of the only ways you can still get semi-reasonable acreage around here is to put a trailer on it. Difference it’s I wouldn’t have been going around acting like it was anything other than a trailer. One of the main reasons why we decided against it was it’s not really cheaper anymore and the other is build quality. Not gunna pay house prices for a trailer just because you wanna call it a “modular home”.
Gee that’s kind of harsh criticism of the in-laws. I’ve found some of the mod homes are better built than from ground up homes built today. Only difference, it wasn’t delivered on wheels. I don’t have a problem with calling either choice a home.
Whatever you call them they are indeed WAY overpriced. I wouldn't buy one but after doing some research I discovered that the ones built for northern climates are much better built. Of course they also cost even more.
After watching this report where it is reported that the Oklahoma Attorney General refuse to do anything for any of these people it reminds me of a few facts. One Oklahoma is a Maga Republican state.
