I genuinely do like when games get fun little free games like this. Like when the Rampage movie actually got some classic Rampage style games to tie into it. It's just kinda nice. And being able to play as Lola is definitely a perk.
Gilly: "You'll never guess who it is." Me: (out loud) "Is it Raid: Shadow legends?" *scrolls down* lol Anyway I was so caught up in everything else it slipped my mind that I wanted to check out the movie, I'm free for a few days so I might just do that, I'll also call up my homeboy as we were looking for another co-op game to play.
>I'll also call up my homeboy as we were looking for another co-op game to play. The Adventures of Cookie & Cream is a hare-rippingly good time with a friend (not to mention, a PS2 game definitely worth your time). Not to mention, that game's made by the "Souls & Sekiro" guys before they were big.
This actually looks good. I'm just confused as to why the plot of the movie involves an NBA Jam styled basketball game, but they made a beat em up....NBA Jam styled basket game? I legit would have played that
@@Invidente7 I've played that one and the space jam game from the first movie, as well as the tiny toons sports game. I understand that those games exist. I'm saying when the plot of the movie is about a basketball videogame, I'd expect the video game tie in to be a basketball videogame instead of a beat em up
I had a good time with Space Jam: A New Legacy, but even I would admit that it's not great. It's pacing is so fast, the whole Server-verse is glossed over, Speedy Gonzalez was barely used, and the Porky Pig rap scene was pretty bad. But I liked some of the cartoon comedy, the 2D and 3D animation were great, Don Cheadle was entertaining, the voice acting was a joy to listen to, I was basically geeking out to the amount of cameos from Warner Bros properties during the 3rd act, having some of the first Space Jam's problems addressed were nice. I stand with Gilly that A New Legacy isn't the abomination that people like LS Mark, MissAntro Pony, and Just Stop were saying. And I didn't watch those videos... mainly because of their horrible titles. I'll also admit that the Server-verse and AL G Rhythm and the Tunes traveling throughout various worlds based on WB properties like Kingdom Hearts could have been its own Back in Action-type movie.
Just wanted to say. I entered the contest to design this game, and my idea was better. Like, I suggested it be a clone of NBA Jam. Probably hundreds of people suggested that and really any of them should have won because why this is a beat em up and not a Basketball game will always perplex me.
Apparently this game was the result of a design contest where people got to send in their own ideas and the winners got their game developed and released. (Source- ua-cam.com/video/95zDv5uasoE/v-deo.html)
I’d say the Cosmonaut Variety Hour’s picture show on this movie sums up how I watched it pretty well. And it also sums up my opinions on both movies. They’re both equally shitty hour long ads, the difference is the nostalgia for the first one and LeBron being a slightly better actor than MJ
Probably doesn't help that the first Space Jam movie was basically a feature film adaptation of two Nike ads starring MJ and Bugs Bunny. It was even directed by Joe Pytka, who directed those ads.
What gets me with some of the harsher critiques of Space Jam 2 is that _the original wasn't a masterpiece either,_ and people shouldn't act like this movie lived up to some high bar. People I know who saw it said that it was bad, felt like Warner Bros. flexing how much stuff they own in some parts, but it wasn't the worst thing ever and pointing out some legitimately funny moments like you did, Gilly. I doubt I'm ever going to see it, but while the movie looks bad and pandering, like the original, I think it'll be enjoyable with some honestly decent jokes that land, again _like the original._
I think everyone's just pissed because it doesn't meet up to their nostalgia. Hell, I think most people remember the original space jam as better than it actually was.
Pst, for those that are interested, the art director and animator for the game has a twitter account here : twitter.com/castpixel And I heavily recomment to everyone with even a passing interest in pixel art to give her a follow, she's crazy good.
Hooray it's back! I was right in the middle of posting a different comment when the video was taken down! 🤣 Thanks for the early birthday gift Gill! 🎁🧡
I’ll say it again but there was a hugely missed opportunity for the film to have Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and Rooster Teeth characters cameo. Aside from Rick and Morty. Also it’s kinda surprising this is exclusive to Xbox Game Pass.
I was so sure this was gonna be another UA-camr ranting about how the movie is what's wrong with society, I'm glad gilly enjoyed the movie instead of suffering it and the game looks great.
@@JoshuaJacobs83 The UA-camrs who didn't like the movie exaggerated its flaws to the max, that's what I hated, I never said nobody can disagree with my taste.
This was a fun little beat em up. Downloaded it, beat it in 37 minutes, deleted it. Killed some time while waiting for Hotshot Racing to download from Game Pass.
It reminds me mostly of Tiny Toons Buster‘s Bad Dream from GBA. It was also a beat em up game and this was a game before Astro Boy Omega Factor came. developed for both games by Treasure.
I'd rather watch the Emoji Movie twice than watch Space Jam New Legacy again. Emoji movie is one of the worst movies ever, but it didn't actually offend or insult me as a moviegoer like Space Jam did.
I'm unsure why it's a beat em up. A pixel art basketball multiplayer game makes more sense. Imagine having non-looney tunes characters as unlockables, let me push Daffy out of the way as Pennywise and get a dunk, that shit would be hilarious, just go crazy with it
I do enjoy old school beat-em-ups, but it is a little odd they didn't make the tie-in game a successor to Looney Tunes B-Ball on the SNES (which was basically just a Looney Tunes version of NBA Jam, and a pretty fun game too). But even so yeah for a completely free and short beat-em-up it's surprising how much actual care went into the design of this game.

I think the Space Jam 2 tie in game is what the GBA version of the Looney Tunes Back in Action game should have been...
why didn't they made an arcade stlye basket ball game ? like with the first movie on the ps1 ?
Man, they should have had shaq as an unlockble character, and have his shaqfu moveset be his move list
he shouldve been a boss unlock
that wouldve been cool but probably hard to do for legal reasons
