The high moon cybertron games were the best, you can tell they truly cared about the characters and that's apparent in their designs. The story and the gameplay is also incredible, they're still better than most modern games tbh. Let's hope high moon get to make the prequel/sequel they wanted

it concerns me that F.O.C Kickback's Clear plastic lasted for 10 years but Legacy's Clear Plastic didnt even last a month
I have a theory that one of the Takara designers secretly loves Kickback. He's the only one to get a FOC toy, the TR one is quite a bit better than T30 Shrapnel and CW Bombshell, and now he's the first one to get a Legacy toy.
I mean, who wouldn't? Kickback is awesome!
Especially the Devastation theme, Bombshell and Shrapnel have the generic battle theme while Kickback has a bomb(shell) ass theme all to himself.
I wouldn't be surprised, I know one of the lead designers has had "dibs" on designing every Starscream figure in the past decade

In some ways, the Planet X figures definitely improve over the Hasbro offerings. Check it:
1. A Voyager sized Optimus. This is a PERFECT upgrade over the WFC toy, as the art gives the look that the FoC version is bigger and beefier than he was before.
2. A FoC Megatron. Hasbro didn't even bother to even take the lazy way out by retooling the WFC one, nevermind a new mold.
3. Voyager sized Seekers & Shockwave. These definitely match better with Hasbro's FoC Soundwave/Soundblaster; the FoC/T30 Deluxes we got are tiny and better match with WFC Megs & WFC Soundwave.
4. The Dinobots. Sure, you can even throw in the fact that they improved the T-Rex mode on FoC Grimlock. But the point here is that Planet X actually DID all five FoC Dinobots, something Hasbro & Takara didn't.
And they even did Paddles. Fucking Paddles!
I could've sworn there was an option to unfold the back bug legs to make them look better. It even looks like there's a tab on the knee to peg into the black part of the leg.
I'm pretty sure they're mistransformed but I could wrong. I thought they opened more to let the knees become the toes in bug mode. I'll have to dig him out of my bucket to check...
I want both this and the Legacy one personally, both designs vibe with me in different ways
If the leaks about Studio Series War For Cybertron is true and I hope to God it is. Then it'll be so good to see these designs with modern engineering.
Kickbacks design from FoC was so awesome, wish we would get upgrades for the insecticons! Anyways, watched your SS Thundercracker Review yesterday, ordered it today for quite a low price, should be here tomorrow, thanks
Yeah, that was one of the best WFC/FOC games figures. I wish they could have made more, some of those designs were absolutely sick (especially the dinobots).
You’ll get your wish next year, since the WFC/FOC games are getting a Sub-line in SS!
Loved the games, but this was when the figures started with the cheap feeling plastic and the hollowness - that sideswipe/jazz mold suffered the worst from it
It’s so sad because PX has seriously slowed down on video game stuf. Lately have just been doing repaints and victory Leo.
Along with giving us more video game toys, they NEED to remaster both War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron!

Oh that bit at the beginning has me worried for my Shattered Glass Soundwave. Like, I have old toys so yellowing doesn't scare me too much, but the spring loaded hinge and clear plastic does
The planet Xs are amazing, I have them displayed with my planet X grimlock and shockwave. Some of the best figures I own

I got the takara version, the colors looks better ofc but the mold itself is really really good. I prefer this more alien design than the boxy ahh g1
His disc launcher also resember a very flat grasshopper if you squint hard enough
Looks like the ports on the inner thighs are specifically for attaching stufg onto the side of the bug mode.
The thigh ports are for weapons in bug mode
I really like foc kickback,it's so much fun to play,i remember i always played him a lot,i also came up a fans mode turned him to a jet and a bat great memory.
because the clear plastic on the G1 kickback has a pin through it, it's constantly under stress. tiny, almost insignificant amounts of stress, but the fact it's permenant means that translucent plastic will crack and break eventually.
Hopefully studio series makes a come back to these designs because man, I feel like 2012 technology did not do Optimus and other characters justice like jazz where as things like grim lock and shockwave were a home run.
After watching this video I am 100% going to buy the takara version. It looks amazing dude!❤
I've got the Hasbro and Takara versions, such a cool mold. Probably the best toy in the FOC line, for sure the best deluxe.
This used to be my favorite toy growing up
Though I more or less gave up with collecting TFs in around 2011/2012 I am familiar with some of what came out for Cybertron games. Had the main ones from the first game and literally nothing from the second. Didn't even know a toy of this guy even existed until now. Pretty sweet articulation though.
you can get the bug mode off the ground if you change up the back legs some looking at other peoples pics online you need to raise them up a bit straighten out the purple section so its even the with the thigh then use the joint that was inside the robot mode leg to extend the foot down to touch to make it more stable and raise him off the ground

I honestly prefer kickback having no mouth just a mask, like his Forged to Fight model it is so cool I really want hasbro to make a toy of it (which will never happen)
It's a good toy for sure, I adored the design when I first saw it! Only issue I had was that dumb launcher
I know you reviewed the planet x starscream a while back but would you recommend the hasbro foc starscream?
so i just realised the one i've had for a year and half is the Takara version, it was never mentioned by the seller. The extra paint on the shoulder parts is great but I prefer the purple on Hasbro, I might buy another to have both.
If you want a Kickback with wings that can go into a flying mode, you should get the Titans Return Kickback. The wings are on ball joints and very posable in bug mode.
Will you do more reviews of FoC toys? I’d love to know more because I’ve been thinking about picking up FoC Optimus

I heard we are getting a new WFC Megatron and maybe some others.👍In fact the whole WFC/FOC were some of my favs.
I have been looking for this figure and everytime Is search online it gives me the legacy kickback. the only generation FOC figures I have is shockwave.
edit: as for the legs in bug mode is it possible to use the thigh swivel so you can angle legs downward and use his robot feet flat on the ground?
Welp, it's 2023 and our wish came true. Gosh, that Prime looks gorgeous. Bumblebee looks great and Barricade is....well Hasbro skipped leg day.

I love all the wfc and foc transformers.
Got 6 of these (1 being the Takara, i.e. the 'real' one, where the others are the 'clones'). This awesome design boasts a variable-style play & makes for a great display toy with loads of hidden features (all ports & clips have specific/creative functions).
PS. The Legacy Kickback has that issue. Even brand-new in box in April this year, I had to go through close to 10 specimens in store in order to find one that didn't already have hairline cracks inside the transparent plastic at the torso pin area (here in stores at the tropics). Never buy one online because the cracks will be hard to spot and we will not be able to feel the cracks via the open-window box. As the metal pin expands and contracts in the heat and lower air-cond temperatures, the fragile transparent part starts to fracture bit by bit (mint in box even)! The clear plastic that had already gone through the trauma of having a metal pin run right through it is further compounded by being left constantly under tremendous temperature-related pressure and it is only a matter of time before it gives way to the harsh (and brittle) reality of the inevitable, my little brother who still digs toys.

God I need to get more old stuff… I’m not interested in to much stuff legacy is putting our, and they’ve tackled almost all other continuities I care about ( beast wars, WFC bayverse) so I think nows a good to get some older stuff. Any recommendations?

Legacy kickback still has that spring inside, so probably that caused the crack.
I like tho half- transform the leg so that he has that beastly t-rex/bird-like leg
The WFC/FOC toy line was far too limited & littered with a few inconsistencies. Ultra Magnus & Air Raid didn't even retain their in-game designs.

There is a leak for some designs for the new transformers reactivate game and they look GOOD. But Megatron takes the cake and I hope he gets a toy and scales with the rest of the toy lines because… it’s perfect. It’s the perfect tank Megatron (that isn’t Armanda, which I like too but I like g1 Megs with a grey tank mode but haven’t found one I like, Earthrise is close but no cigar)
We need more FOC and WFC game figures. Period.
Just a thought. Maybe surprise us with a cybertron menasor. I say that because WFC had breakdown and dragstrip, the DS version also had motormaster. Therefore its very do-able

I will never understand why TF reviewers like to always wait until the 5min mark or later to actually show the alt mode. Its the MAIN feature of the toy line
