That drummer looks like he's loving this stuff. Not a dull moment for him.
Aynsley Dunbar... The best... 😎👍
Anysley Dunbar Awesome Drummer
I’m 65. I would have never imagined the two main guys from The Turtles would have hooked up with the legendary Frank Zappa. Then(~1973) I listened to the 1971 live recording of The Mothers at Fillmore East!
I agree, who wouldn't ever think of that? They are kind of slapstick comedy, if you think about it, and Frank Zappa always had people try to make them laugh. He loves to laugh He got his hands-on these 2 guys and rocked it out more rock and roll than mother's sound. Which I also love.I love it all
The album I was weened on.
CLASSIC!!! Also kudos to Aynsley Dunbar!. Some of these time signatures were insane!
I was there that night!!! This is a great find!!!
Frank is such a freaking genius that even if you attended this show you are one too.RIP F.Z.
Holy shit thats awesome!
It is great!
Amazing!
I was ther too. Playing in another band.
Damn they were so ahead of their time, to the point where they were dabbing way before us 17:04
Ansley Dunbar, the original Journey drummer. I had forgotten he was with Z.
He also did this before Black Sabbath..............ua-cam.com/video/wA7qnx1osVE/v-deo.html
*One* of the greatest of all time to ever slam skin!
I didn’t know he was in Journey. 🙀🙀
There needs to be a autobiographical movie about frank played by Sacha baron cohen
Why?
Some of the best spoken word ever
The same year flo and Eddie started backing vocals on T. rex hits.
Very good songs!!! Amazing!
Oh how good is this?? I used to have this on vinyl. Those two guys and there "conversations" are yet to be matched as, too, are the Turtls. Thank you.
So good to see footage of this amazing time.
Flo & Eddie from the Turtles on vocals (see what they looked like only three years earlier doing 'Happy Together')...
Trust me, Zappa was much better off without these two hacks!
Slim Jim hacks? ok
They lost control of the name The Turtles. Seems Flo & Eddie were the names of a couple people among the roadies.
Flo is the movement of water. An Eddie is where water takes a break!
In 50 years that never occurred to me as both a Turtles and FZ fan.
Maximus fantasticus love it 👍
100% dope AF and totally NTM footage. Much-appreciated, LA CREAM.
I loved when they did Billy the Mountain!
The Turtles, Flo and Eddie on lead vocals. Blows my mind
18:56 happy together
An unsung hero and very clever man he was
Flo and Eddie were astonishingly good singers.....listen to how high Frank makes them sing on Latex Solar Beef....mind blowing
what a great vacuum commercial
When Flo & Eddie got down to business instead of burlesque, they were spectacular.
I had this on an 8-track
Man I wish I could see more of Jeff simmons
Frank Zappa and "The Turtles". Big surprise for me. Never knew this until today. Nice.
they were members of the mothers
@@dvened Uh-hum... AFTER the Turtles.
Just another band from LA
So Happy Together sung on The Mothers Live at Filmore is a classic. The entire album is incredible. The album I was weened on back in '71. That year, Zappa, Tull and Gentle Giant. Added Neal Morse about 20+ years ago. That's all I ever needed.
Michael Phelps can play Frank in a biopic
"Simmons! Hoo-urghhhh!"
On this 1970 Interview at 12:48 he mentions that presidency can be bought - this is what later happened on a global scale.
Every democratically elected position is "bought" lol it costs millions to run a successful campaign
He was their original drummer before Steve Smith.
Is there footage of the full concert anyone???
Turtles Eddie & Floyd, Mothers, Zappa
It was Flo not Floyd. Florescent Leach and Eddie.
Does anyone know what the song at the beginning is?
Call Any Vegetables
Today I discovered The Turtles and it seems they're a band of their own. I gues that's where I am going next in this rabbit hole.
Listen to The Mothers Live at Fillmore. That was the album I was weened on.
He seems a tad sarcastic
Ed Kaz! young , dum and fullofcum , esp , with that vacuum cleaner ...
Please don’t get rid of this
This show used to be uploaded but they got rid of it, thank you for uploading again!
Is it Shuggie Otis on bass ?
I was in a bar with my wife once to see Johnny and Shuggie Otis. During a break one of Shuggie’s goons stands between me and her and says, “Shuggie wants you, or else!” She said, “Well you tell Shuggie to go fuck himself! I ain’t no fucking groupie!” I still LMAO!
No, it`s Jeff Simmons
No, Jeff Simmons.
I didn’t know Dunbar was with Journey. 🙀🙀
Journey, Bowie and tried out for Led Zeppelin. Page liked him, Plant didn't. (Zappa uses the name Roger Planet on the Fillmore album)
Anybody know the exact guitar and year Frank was playing here?
1969 Gibson ES355
Yes, that is a 355. I haven't seen him playing that model before.
The Filmores (SF and NY) were done in '70 and 71. June 71' was the album Live at Fillmore.
What the fuck was that bit with the vacumn?
I'm fairly sure this clip was taken from the "Uncle Meat" video Zappa released in the 80s. It's full of weird little home movies like this, along with some weird ongoing gag between his secretary and Don Preston.
Zappa actually looks embarrassed ?
Frank Zappa for President would be better than Trump
I wish Frank could've been around for the Trump era. Frank could take him on so easily.
Almost anyone would be a better president than that traitor.
Zappa dead for 10 yrs.
Yeah if he was alive 😮
An unflushed toilet would be better.
I'm gonna be an outlier here. The album cover might say MOI but the goofball iteration featuring Kaylan and Volman simply cannot compare with the classic MOI. Compared to the artists who gave us Freak Out to Burnt Weeny Sandwich this lineup is the beginning of the dumbed down years.
I think the classic original lineup was more musically talented and adventurous but this version was more comedic and had perhaps the better lead vocals. I wasn't that crazy about most of the '70s era.
Never heard a worse take than this!
in a certain way zappa was politically illiterate
agreed. Greatest composer of the 20 century, but i wouldn't have voted for him to hold public office.
What way would that be
Zappa understood the problem but not the cause of the problem. Zappa would support Trump today. But I'm glad he just played the guitar. The Best.
What absolute crap.
Listen to Apostrophe or Hot Rats
*okay buddy 'ole pal*
Okey. Your opinion has been noticed.
That's no way to describe your life?
CNN says it all
