Rel Carbon Specials came to life 😊
@@CarlVanDoren61 The subs aren't hooked up, Jay has mentioned this on many occasions so if you are more recent to the channel, the subs are from a previous home theatre set up. I hope this clears up any confusion
Try Psychopomp on the Dafos album next time as loud as you dare.
Including a sound pressure level meter in your videos with presentations like this would be very informative as to the actual levels you're getting in your room.
Do you really think anyone is interested in knowing the actual decibel level, you can hear it's very loud and dynamic without distortion. Exactly what you would expect from 1600 Watts and this level of components
@@staceymanghamAre you kidding? O B V I O U S L Y people would want to know what SPL he’s at. He talked about volume the first 5 minutes of the video. Get a grip and quit being a senseless contrarian. You are why people hate audiophiles 🤕
@@staceymanghamyes!!
think most would want to know.
My AV system running 2 channels and sub hits 114-118 at peak. My audio rig maybe 92-95.
@@Pok-001 I don't think most would want to know, here's the thing we use our ears to measure loudness unless it becomes about bragging rights ! Oh my system goes louder than yours ! But then you need to measure distortion as well because it becomes meaningless if it's distorting to achieve a certain level. Here's the real kicker though, some people are oblivious to distortion and will happily leave it at that level, whereas someone who can hear it is reaching for the volume control to turn it down. At the end of the day audiophiles aren't generally Headbangers so are not interested in the measured dB levels.
@@staceymangham you right distortion matters and some are oblivious to it. 😂 And there compression too
It also can be relevant depending on your listening habits. Some like it loud. lol.
Jay was bragging about loudness and maxing his amps. And he adds the price of his gear to the description. He mad e it relevant. So it would be nice to know where it’s at SPL wise
Outlet strip and extension cord??!! 😂 Come on man! 🤣
This is why the left channel clipped. My guess - current limitation with the Home Depot orange extension and outlet strip.
We all have done it '
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 No we haven't...
Lol😅😅😅
@@ronmurphy4234 ok most of us at one time or another. You probably have as well.
Jay, you must the first ever UA-camr to have bought the Sim Audio 888 amps....I have always dreamed about these mono blocks....Thank you
You should try it next time with a meter to see what it hits you at , where you are listening. Cheers!
My modded 1960’s Harmon Kardon Citation II will smoke this system without trying.
Gryphon Diablo 300, Rockport Atria ll, Aurender A-10 Transparent power conditioner and cables. 86-94 db with 103 db max. No clipping bass didn’t break up. Obviously this system isn’t in the same league as what you’re listening to, but it actually sounds pretty good.
Jay, just go to Harbor Freight and get yourself a couple of 10 or 12 gauge extension cords. You’re handicapping your amps. Just like if you try to run a larger air compressor with a thin extension cord you will burn up the motor.
I did the same exact thing with my Macintosh mc2505 at a time that nobody was in the building and the amp didn’t even went to clipping or something like that. Sometimes old is gold too! Nice job Jay! Thank you 🙌💪
Thanks for sharing
Back in like 1984 I went to a dance club in Phoenix. They didn't have a liquor license, so minors were allowed there. I was 15. They had 4 Klipsch Cornwall speakers, 1 in each corner of the dance floor. It was an open type club built in a grocery store that had went out of business. I was amazed at the decibels they were putting out. Usually they use professional type speakers for that kind of thing. It was loud, had tons of bass and it sounded way better than anything I had heard up to that point. Not sure what the rest of the gear was powering the speakers, but I haven't been in a club to this day with better sound.
For the record this is the clearest ,more pure sound i've ever heard from your journey!
Wow, thank you!
I would have to agree. The magicos appear on the clinical side, crystal clear
This has been a staple in my audio system test track for years. Good to hear someone on this. Phenomenal track.
I cant see your speakers move. Mine sure did. You owe me $49.99 for new speakers.
lol
That doesn’t even cover shipping and handling!!!
I like the cut of your gib
Not much of a problem, never heard any strange sounds, my Buchardt I 150 clipped for a total of 6 seconds. Peak sound level 104.4 db. The tiny Sonus Faber Venere 1.5’s with a small sub, took it all in stride.
Everything sounded clean and pure! I have owned Balanced Audio Technology VK500’s but so far nothing sounded as good as my Buchardt I 150.
My system is proof that smaller systems can be really good. My wife likes the look of my speakers, which is a bonus!
Thanks Jay! Nice demo song.
Thank you
I'm also extremely impressed with my Sonus faber Venere 1.5 standmount speakers. These entry level Chinese made monitors never clipped (neither did my dual REL T/7x subs), driven by my McIntosh MC301 monoblocks, and their Power Guard LEDs never flashed once, their peak meter readings were between 30 and 100 watts each (peak sound pressure level reading was approximately 110 dB). Preamp is a Kinki Studio EX-P7 line stage with volume maxed at 95...streamer is a Wiim Ultra using a PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream Junior DAC...power conditioning is a Niagara 1200...power cords and XLRs are top of the line Maze Audio Ref4 cables, and speaker cables are Straight Wire Serenade 3's.
@@jt1stcav
Are you considering buying different speakers? Or have you ever considered it? I was considering getting a little larger speaker, or perhaps get a REL Classic 99 sub? Or maybe and SVS sub? I have a Kanto 6” sub now, while I live in an apartment.
My little sound system is still the best sound I have heard. It is cleaner and simply better than my $100k system I had at the turn of the century. It’s dead silent, and the music just dances around the room! No possible way for a blindfolded person to tell where the speakers are, or what kind of speakers?
I have mine 6’ apart 3’ from the wall and 6’ from me.
How do you have yours set?
@@richardurban2269 I had bought different loudspeakers after the 1.5's...the Sonus faber's big brother, the Venere 3.0 towers, and just last year the Q Acoustics top-of-the-line Concept 300 tripod/steel cabled stand-mounted monitors (I still own the two REL T/7x 8" subs which I have no desire to replace). The Venere 3.0 three way towers were simply too thick and muddy sounding to me in the midrange, so they were sold. I still have the $5K Concept 300 monitors, which I absolutely love, but I think the much older (and far cheaper) 1.5's equal the Q 300's in overall tonality!
The 1.5's are also 6' apart from tweeter to tweeter, and 3' 6" from the rear wall and 2' 3" from the side walls, and 6' 5" from my listening position in a spare 12' by 14' house bedroom.
I was casually considering selling my gloss white Venere 1.5 stand-mount monitors since I hadn't listened to them in over a year. But after this sound test, how they never once broke up or distorted at my preamp's max volume setting, along with my 300 watt McIntosh monoblocks which never clipped at all during the entire performance...the little Chinese made Sonus faber Venere 1.5 stand-mount monitors are definitely keepers (unless I ever trade up to their much more expensive stand-mount Olympica Nova I's or greater).
@@richardurban2269 I did buy different speakers afterwards....the 1.5's big brother, the Venere 3.0 3-way walnut veneered towers, but their midrange was disappointingly thick and muddy, so I sold them and purchased new $5K Q Acoustics Concept 300 tripod/steel cable stand-mount monitors, which I love! But to tell you the truth, the 1.5's sound equally as clear and transparent as the 300s for more than half the price!
My gloss white 1.5's are also 6' apart, 3' 5" from the rear wall and 2' 6" from the side walls, and 6' 4" from my seating position in a 12' x 14' spare bedroom in my house.
I got scared and backed down half way through. Nice clear recording.
Hey Jay, play Rachets by Hedegaard , that'll test your system.
WARNING; beware of 1:58 Concert Bass Drums on Jazz Variants….it is otherwise a great percussion track from La Bamba album
With genelec 1237As + 7370A sub. With ease 110Db. BUT why would i listen with earplugs? Clean sound as you can get.
Yeah that same shut down with flashing blue happened when I pushed Q7 hard with very low frequency content. Did you check Fault Code on the back of 888 when it happened? Mine stated “ Other” = overdriven. Mine were run on 230V 20A circuit.
This song is on my Tidal playlist already. I’ve played it loud with no clipping. Had no idea people were afraid to play this song loud. I love it and I love it loud.
Played fine loud on my system, ARC LS-25 / Boulder 1160 / Wilson Alexia 2. No streaming front end so just a laptop connected to a FocusRite. You are right though dynamics on this song are no joke.
Wow what a track that is... the dynamics are great. Its late at night so can't crank it right up but I will do soon. That bass drum hits hard!
Have fun!
Oh my!! My system in my suburban is around 9000 watts rms. I played the song as your system played it and it sounded great. I went and played the song through Apple Music. Very big difference. My subwoofers can create a ton of pressure. The pressure was there. This song will expose your system. My tweeters struggled a little. I will be purchasing better tweeters and I will be purchasing this song.
Hearing that track through Wilsons is really a joy
Those are the old Magico M7 flagship speakers, not Wilson Audio
Played fine on mine without clipping. The only song I've played where it actually turns my amplifier into standby mode is Hans Zimmer Dune 2 "A time of quiet between the storms". Try that one Jay, see how you get on.
@@mvallely79How did I waste your time? Did you listen to the whole song? If you did you would know it starts out slow and has a huge dynamic shift over half way through.
Complaining about a guy’s recommendation and then posting a second time just to throw an insult because you don’t have the same musical taste is the real waste of time. I didn’t particularly care for the song either, but it definitely throws a punch at your system. Pathos InPol 2, Bowers Wilkins 706 s2, HiFi Rose RS150b, JL Audio eSub 110.
@@mvallely79 obviously your system isn't up to much then. LOL
Try it with Telarc 1812 Overture. Watch the flames.
Love the track Jay! First time hearing.
Jay, do these speakers have rear access to inside? Would love to see what they're using for dampening.
I have been playing that song for many years, and yes very loud. Albeit I also have 3 subwoofers which make the room feel like it is coming apart.
on Stenheim Ultima 2 showed a peak of 50 watts ))) because the sensitivity is 94 dB ))) the SPL level is more than 100 dB
I have my 8watt tube amp hooked up so I will just sit this one out.
Jay, you should buy some lower gauge, single, extension cords, so you can connect the short power cables directly to the wall instead of using the power strip. Thanks for sharing the content.
Ok
Hi Jay, what has happened with Soulution 727 preamp? This can be a nice combo with those Moon "Uber" monoblocs.
Can't seem to find your playlist on Tidal fam. When you search Jay's Audio Lab, like 20-25, different playlists pop up. Can you share the link?
it is a qobuz playlist , check the video again
Yeah I didn't notice that until I watched a 2nd time. He said the playlist is on Tidal so of course I seached to pull it up. 🙄
Hi Jay here a ATC fanboy and I’ve try it with an average off 98 db and a peak off 114db the system ATC scm40v2, aw250r electrocompaniet and a Rockna wavelight held up fine it was way louder than I ever played but still everything was fine no strange fall outs or peaks, the db meter even gave a good image off what was going on frequency wise and that did not disappoint point me a, I even had the feeling these speakers could handle some more power (but a new heavier (faster) poweramp was already on my future list 😀
I think your system sounded very composed. Sounded pretty good to me.
His seemed to lack the lowest note unless the mic just didn't catch it
@@dlfrestoration I don't think U Tube is going to get down to 20 HZ so it doesn't matter how low it's going down to in room, you are never going to hear it at our end
What kind of power outlet do you need for each of these moon amps? I guess you're better off in Europe where you can run one per outlet.
I am running over 2kw into 94 db/wm active equivalent speakers and dual 12" drivers. Passed without breaking a sweat.
Even tho my Quad 63's are high passed at 60hz with double subs, not a chance in hell Jay lol. They get uncomfortable at about 95 db peaks which is still pretty loud. Very clean however. Your system is very transparent and I like the spectral balance. Imo, more transparent and clean than the Gryphon imo. Nice stuff Jay.
Ran my Alexx Vs and Classe m600 up to an average of 95 db sounds great
Play some classical music. There is a lot that is really loud that has a myriad of details woven in to intense and dramatic sound. That would be a true challenge.
I have a really powerful amplifier, power supply of transistors on the 110 V power rail in a bridge configuration. Speakers with professional speakers (bass BMS18N862 1600W). At first it was calm but dynamic in the middle of the band, but when the lowest bass came in it was shocking. :)
Worked perfectly on the PS Audio system! Great imaging and control.
Great to hear!
That bass note is amazing that hit is so so hard I have 2.7kws tri amped on focal speakers nothing broken and nothing clipped but it nothing like your set up all in under 380. My dream is to get to your level of toys😂
Thanks for sharing
Great to see you using the Simaudio MOONs
My Accuphase played this song with eassssszzz mate. Over 90dB!! Accuphase amplifier, Fyne Audio speakers, Crystal Cable LS cable... Yes you read that wright Jay.. ACCUPHASE!
I'm 62, when i was 23 i had a pair of Klipschorns maxed out at 100 watts continuous with peaks of 300. I had to change the glass fuses to 35 amp fuses. Curiously i drove 10 blocks away and i could still hear it through my walls, closed doors.. 104 db efficient the neighbors weren t impressed. lol.
10 blocks away? I don’t doubt you! Those are big speakers!
@@EricMiller-ts1qo It was the big fuses that allowed me to put the full 100 watts continuous into them.
Great track to test and show-off ones system - Played it last weekend at a listening session with my Audiophile buddies - we were all blown away with the dynamics, bass, and how the sound pressurized the room - Luckily my neighbor below was out of town, she would have had me evicted 😂
That was fun! If I can do this with techno records than it can do this! I did it and it sounded just fine,no problems at all. Can you do this again but with speedcore songs? And the song chop chop by N.T.S.C?
Hi Jay, this is the best recording I ever heard, the result with this level of recording is equal or much better than changing 3 times or more expensive setup...are you agree with that?
Nice track. In our modest town home we have all of the volume we can handle with a 60 watt per channel integrated amp and vintage (1954-55) JBL speakers labelled as 16 ohms. There is a powered subwoofer as well. We have never had any evidence of clipping.

What are those shiny metal discs on top of some of the equipment ?
I have that on my Amazon playlist …and it’s freak’n AMAZING…but I’m on a headphone setup…and this makes my LCDX headphones actually rattle my chest!!
Great track 👍
Have a great weekend 🥃
If headphones are rattling your chest aren't you worried about your eardrums? I'd love to have a real good headphone setup, specially since I live in a condo, but always stayed away from them for fear of damaging my earring. Is there a way to get proper SPL measurements with headphones?
@@BobCoalWater I did it as a test to see if the sub bass (the big kettle drum) actually presented itself…and yup …much like accidentally not having my hearing protection at the range fully in place …I won’t be doing that again 🫨
Would’ve been great if you filmed a close up of the drivers flexing during that sound test.
I'm curious as to what the actual spl was in your room. Also, thank you for turning me onto a new song. To be honest though, it sounded better when I just opened amazon music on my pc and played it there because no matter what you have all I'm hearing are my polk audio speakers. But I would get this album on vinyl if I can find it. I like it that much.
Would love to hear your take on KEF Blade One? Thanks for the amazing no limits content
OMG that song is amazing! XDXDXD
Thanks for sharing bro! Any amp will clip if you go all out to 0/+4dBu with music dynamics playback. I was sitting at -25 dBu on a balanced pro-line output system (-13ish unbalanced consumer signal) with no clips on amps or my B&W 801 S2's. Loved those base drums!
Y’all better go easy at first. Somebody had to blow up some speakers with this track!
The kettle drum or whatever drum that is was unbelievable!
On that note Jay, do the same with Remystify, by Govinda, cut one Golden Bow. Bottom end can do structural damage. Tight and very deep.1812 is good but... all I can say is be prepared
Those tinkling sounds were great, floating in the air. 😮
When I used to work for Dynaudio I used this track for demo often. Once played on the Consequence Ultimate with McIntosh 2kw. I made the red protection light flash! But the Consequence hat a sensitivty of 83dB officially. In reality it was probably 81.
I've been playing this track for sometime now but can't play too loud because of neighbours. A few months ago I went to the public demonstration of the Magico M7's at KJ West One London. I asked for this track to be played. Everyone loved this track and asked me for its name. On the M7's it sounded incredible. Subterranean bass. Very impressive indeed. They were using a D'Agostino pre-amp with Dartzeel power amps. The Dartzeel preamp failed during the presentation hence the D'Agostino brought in as a replacement. Alon Wolf was there and on the first note played through the D'Agostino said he didn't like it. Amazing ears.
Love album for texting. Well recorded with crazy dynamics
I'm flying over Jay, get the beers in the fridge
I have Dynaudio Confidence 60 speakers driven by a Pass Labs X-250 amp. 95 db peak with absolutely no signs of stress. Wonderfully clean sound. I stopped there just to protect my hearing.
105.6dB peak on final crescendo. 25 watts Line Magnetic 845 premium driving Martin Logan CLX Arts. No clipping, no distortion, that I could detect, though with the power needles bouncing off their end stops, I sure it must be present, ears didn’t want anything louder.
Can you please provide direct link to the playlist please, there are a lot of playlists with this name on Tidal
I have this song on the original gold audiophile CD! Very dynamic and well-recorded track for sure.
Sounds LIVE!
I must be missing something.... Wasn't what I would call a system tester on my humble system. Vandersteen 1Bs with a Proceed amp2.
Jay, why didn't you try Robert Koda from Japan?? It is considered a holy grail in high- end audio. At some point, you should try this with matching speakers ( Wilson, Estelon, Zellaton, Vivid Audio, etc etc
They don’t answer their emails.. I’ve tried
@jaysaudiolab Ohh!! Sorry to hear that, Jay! Robert Koch, the owner of Robert Koda, is like a one man show!! He is doing & making all his gear by himself!! Crazy self - obsessed, fanatic - detail oriented person 😂 I think one day you will. Thanks 😊
Been using Jazz Variants for years to test systems, great track.
Wow, thank you. Great experience, I used my KEF Q5s and Velodyne sub. And Denon AVR 3803. Great channel, avg 70db, max 90db
Very nice!
Nice, no bloated bass which many ported speakers have. Nice tone in the timpani also. Yup, that's a Magico for ya. Yes, they like horsepower!
I play that song all the time. Especially the version where there’s a live band vs the “world’s best loudspeakers”.
The band sounds so much more real than the loudspeaker rendition.
Great track, but it doesn’t tax the system.
Yello - Mean Monday Extended Version will do that.

I love the fact that you have the Simon audio AAA mono blocks

What SPL's were you reaching in your room 🤔 ?

These q7s will stay clean at very high volumes, they just keep on giving without breaking down😂
Yes they do
Jay, we could have lent you some Nordost power strip and power cords --- LOL!
Been listening to jazz variants since I got into the hobby 20 years ago……never had a problem either with amps clipping or woofers bottoming out…..
We had such a fun experience with our system, featuring the Sonus Faber Amati Futura speakers and the Pass Labs INT-250 amplifier. We tried a highly recommended test playing a track at a very high volume. It was an exciting and enjoyable challenge! Our system passed the test successfully, delivering excellent performance even at high volumes 👍
Great to hear!
Bring that album on. My system is ready to rock it out.
100 db easy
Nice dynamics, what are the sensitivity on those speakers?

I don't necessarily agree with the 'reveal flaws' part. Jazz Variants sounds great because it's a great recording, it will sound great on most any system. It sounds good in my Toyota Corolla. It's not going to reveal flaws as much it will demonstrate just how friggin' cool stereo room mics sound. It's exciting in the same way a marching band sounds when it's passing by you on the street. I can't 'crank' this song because I live in an apartment, but even at lower volumes it's still fun. Recording engineers are mostly responsible for how good hifi systems sound in my experience. A big loud transient followed by room mic ambience with stereo spatial cues is what is exciting to listen to in my opinion and Jazz Variants delivers. Plus it's a catchy tune.
Virtual battle of the sound systems. Reminds me of the time when I went to reggae dances 😀
Moon by simaudio, my dream!! Best amp that I had the chance to hear. Cheers for the sharing!
Sounds great. Well known track for demo purposes tho 😉
Impressive sound
Jay, I don't remember your review of the CH Precision L10 or their DAC. Have I missed these reviews?

No stress..

omg the highs sound sharp
It's cool that you make this hobby fun.
Can't do this test tho' because:
a. I live in a small apartment with neighbors on both sides and above. Therefore, my current rig just isn't designed to go ' live music' loud.
b. My room gets overloaded somewhere around 89 dB.
I'd like to hear Car Radio by 21 Pilots on that system and loud especially near the end of the track.
Founders 100f with anthem amps. Hittimg 109db and sounded fantastic. No issues at all
This Album is recorded at a lower gain than most recordings that I have listened to so I had to turn the gain up a bit. Still was able to hit 100 db cleanly in my small listening room with my small Linn Keilidh’s and LK100s.
That’s great with lower gain, that mesns it has mutch dynamics-Not a loudness war.
@morganmoren4467 Dafos by Mickey Hart is another outstanding recording that is like this one. Psychopomp will absolutely challenge your low end output.
Jay, which Tidal playlist is actually yours? There's several named "Jay's Audio Lab" on Tidal
Check the description of my video
May sound great but do all audiophiles take up half the room with amps and clutter? I dont get it and will wait for the rebuttles.
4' X 10' spread, room size dictates 😮
WoW Real Amazing
