The most expencive player in Europe (Mirotic) is being payed nba benchwarmers money. That's why they will only come when they dont find a contract in the nba. Almost every basketball player is dreaming to play in the NBA. Even the career is not going well, they don't want to go "one step back" by going back to the euroleague.
    Marjanovic showed in the national team that he is not any more the Boby from 2015 - playing for years 3-5min a season must have an impact.
    I would love to see the spain Brothers and the Georgian players back in Euroleague.
    We can only hope that one day Euroleague will be stronger with higher sallarys for the players, so that at least the players get a better position to negotiate with the NBA teams. So far the NBA clubs still treat the players coming from Europe with "no respect" and most of them never got a real chance to show their potential.

    • @valentinberg7

      Indeed. European teams shall figure out the way to make money so they can pay talents. It is insane that top EuroLeague players get 4-5 mil which is the salary of 9-10 man on the roster in the NBA, who usually just a descent role player at most, not some potential super talent which could some of these European guys develope in EuroLeague and then bring this to the NBA.

    Pretty sure that NBA teams don't convince Euroleague players to come over, pay them millions USD, then decide that they can sit on the bench. There has to be a talent gulf. If a guy is averaging 26 points in Euro and then 6 in the NBA, the league must be difficult, despite what Giannis, Jokic and Doncic claim. Teams don't care where a player is from, if he can score or defend, he'll get playing time. Something else is hindering them in the NBA.

    Almost all of them??? I mean maybe a few guys who in the wrong situation would struggle buuuuut… let’s be honest here. Bacon, Larkin, James, etc. were all fringe guys in the league despite many many chances in summer league, real contract, etc. And are dominant in Euro ball.
    So outside of a few stylistic exceptions, I think every few even decent NBA players, much less the good players, would find it hard to absolutely destroy Europe comp

    Well it's not actually a waste of their career. Fournier is currently getting paid 18M/year. Same goes for most of them that the money is so much better.

    Not going to happen unless NBA players take a massive pay cut and its unlikely. Euro league as good as it is can't pay the NBA salary structure

      In some cases yes, but players like Fournier have been in the nba for very long that they have adapted well, but then u have someone like Campazzo or Poirier who struggled in their short nba time

  • @LedaiCepelinai

    Or there is such a phenomenon as Sabonis. It wouldn't shine in the Euroleague either. And in the NBA collects a double-double almost every game

    The Hernangomez playing for Toronto would be a fringe player in the Euroleague as well... Lets just be real about Svi Mykhailiuk as well.... dude cant switch and his lateral on defense is well below NBA level. If you being benched cause of your lack of Defensive abilities in the NBA.... same gonna be in the Euroleague.
    We move on to the 3rd former Toronto Raptors on this list Alex Len. Sorry don't even know how he made the NBA. I would take Anthony Bennett over this guy to play center.

    We all know PAO needs help , but Fournier on the thumbnail with the green shirt is not it. He's a fan of Olympiacos basketball.

    • @roothik
      @roothik Рік тому +1

      So what? I wouldn't mind having him at all at PAO. Even Bourousis joined us at some point, which was unimaginable in the past. Or you think it's impossible to convince him to, even with a good offer?

    • @the8thman
      @the8thman Рік тому

      @@roothik Ofcourse you wouldn't. That's not the point of my comment though. Evan has had a interview a few months ago, stating if he ever went back to Europe, he'd prefer Olympiacos. Makes the thumbnail look weird. To answer your question, i think PAO needs to focus on multiple players in the transfer window, instead of dumping money on Fournier. They did the same with Bacon, and failed miserably.

    At the end of the day, NBA is a national tournament, so is normal they priorize national players. Special cases are Doncic, Antetukoumpo and Jokic. They are superstars and "marketing" worth it. This year really hope Spain win the Basketball Mundial, to show a lesson to USA, like Argentina do two decades ago.
