- It is painful for basketball fans in Europe to see talented Europeans wasting their careers on the NBA bench. The much-preferred alternative is seeing them competing in the EuroLeague. Here are 10 players, who currently warm the bench, but could shine there.

can you make a video on why nobody averages 30 in the euroleague and why teams dont run more iso? europeans are very talented
Evan Fournier has said multiple times that he wants to join Olympiacos one day. As an Olympiacos fan, he is more than welcomed
Ναι όλο το ΝΒΑ θελει να παιξει για τον Ολυμπιακό. Όπως το καλοκαίρι του 2008 που λέγατε ότι θα φέρετε Αιβερσον και Λεμπρον στο λιμάνι. 🖐🐑
@@ali_kiddo he said Evan FOURNIE. read the whole comment.Plus he actually said that
@@strahinjastevic7480 which is something noone said except you
Then you woke up.

Good list. There is also Furkan Korkmaz might make a huge impact in a Euroleague team.
As a European sixer fan i think he is Really good. But just a bit inconsistent and defense is a issue. Would be great seeing him in europe where he shine
Furkan played good when you not expected. He lost his 3 point shot and that is the reason why he is out of the rotation. He played in the NBA and in my opinion that was enough for him. He not developed his game.
I'd like to see him in Efes he could be a game changer in Euroleague but he's only 25 and probably gonna get another chance in an nba team
Great video. A player that would be amazing in Europe would be Ish Smith. He is the typical undersized guy with amazing skills that would to great in the Euroleague but I fear that he is now too old to make that drastic jump.
My prediction is that out of this list only Boban, Fournier and Saric will return to Europe while they are still productive. The Hernangomez brothers will probably stay in the NBA and eventually ascend to a better status. Fournier not playing is the biggest waste right now. He would be a top 5 guard in the Euroleague.
I doubt that fournier will come, it would be cool tho. He was being payed around 20 mil a year and he doesnt need to come to europe
Some players do only play for money but i hope that i see him in monaco or asvel jersey
Boban wont return. He will retire in the states and stay there do to commercials and movies/tv shows
@@ogvamp so traitor of his own country.
@@bkilla888 nah if he comes to europe he will come to Olympiacos. He said he loves the atmosphere here and the team
Most of the players on the list would give team USA headaches in Fiba. Crazy how different the game is played
Americans really like crack cocaine, they can be delusional, while European players already dominating the NBA
A lot of these guys would be great in the NBA if they were actually given Minutes and opportunities.
No they wouldn't? Hahahaha
Hasn’t the US won nearly every world competition, cruising most games, since they finally stopped making college kids play pros?
Furkan Korkmaz as well. With the turkish national team he is cooking european opponents pretty often and also had some crazy stats with the sixers but his lack of explosiveness and defense is hurting him in the nba.
Yes man! Finally, i was thinking of the same thing last days. Great video. Unfortunatelly even the last benchwarmer in the NBA is making more than double that he would make here in Europe. The most expencive player in Europe (Mirotic) is being payed nba benchwarmers money. That's why they will only come when they dont find a contract in the nba. I think from this list the most easy to come is mamu cause he is the cheapest one. But also fournier and boban are very likely to come
Seeing the Hernangomez brothers just waste away on the bench is disheartening after watching them win it all last summer.
I would love to see Isiah Thomas in Europe!
He is small but even in the NBA he was a great scorer, I think he would dominate in the Euroleague
No way the tactical game would be too much for him I think and also he is not able to guard anyone with his size disadvantage and Defense is the most important thing in el. I liked him too he was a very good player for the nba but I don’t think he would fit in el.
@@panagiotiskoumanis1598 how would the tactical game be too much for him?
There are a lot of players who are stars on the offensive end and who have to be hidden on the defensive end.
I think that Isaiah Thomas definitely outweighs his defensive deficits with his offensive skills
At least on the european level
@@panagiotiskoumanis1598 Isaiah now has a debilitated hip but in his prime he was 5x better than Shane Larkin in every way, who has been able to dominate Europe. Stop drinking the cool aid.
he would be called CARRYING and palming all the time..he is only good to weak NBA.
Almost every basketball player is dreaming to play in the NBA. Even the career is not going well, they don't want to go "one step back" by going back to the euroleague.
Marjanovic showed in the national team that he is not any more the Boby from 2015 - playing for years 3-5min a season must have an impact.
I would love to see the spain Brothers and the Georgian players back in Euroleague.
We can only hope that one day Euroleague will be stronger with higher sallarys for the players, so that at least the players get a better position to negotiate with the NBA teams. So far the NBA clubs still treat the players coming from Europe with "no respect" and most of them never got a real chance to show their potential.
Indeed. European teams shall figure out the way to make money so they can pay talents. It is insane that top EuroLeague players get 4-5 mil which is the salary of 9-10 man on the roster in the NBA, who usually just a descent role player at most, not some potential super talent which could some of these European guys develope in EuroLeague and then bring this to the NBA.
The problem is Europe is all about football.
While Europeans are already dominating the NBA, where's the American logic 😂😂😂
@@valentinberg7 im not sure if it ever could. It's just the way American Basketball and European Basketball works. You have 30 teams for the entire population of 300 million. We have a bigger population in the Entire European Union but hundreds of teams since every country has at least a dozen teams with their own Loyal Fanbase each. Not to mention a lot of the bigger countries in Europe are not all that interested in Basketball
Sviatoslav would be🔥 i would also add Frank Kaminsky, Jay Huff, Matt Thomas to the list... and maybe Willie Cauley-Stein, Doumbouya, Raul Neto...
You forgot yo mention that all these players earn so much money there, that they don't think about Europe
Boban would still dominate in Europe. No 3 seconds , hello.He'd be a force under the basket.
he has played most of his career in Europe. He dominated Eurocup, but in Euroleague top teams found solutions for him. He is not able to play 30+ minutes, and is slow.
@@kambge He can still be a double double player in Europe , and defend the rim well.
@@BratShemi Yes I agree. A Euroleague that needs a backup centre. But I can't see a playoff team that needs a backup centre.... He is probably better off warming bench in NBA
@@kambge At least it's good money , but kinda sad he wasted his prime on the bench.
@@kambge last season in Zvezda he was Mvp in Euroleague, and it was avg team at best.
How Could you forget Fontecchio!? He averaged 20 ppg at both the Olympics and EuroBasket tournaments and he Is Not being treated properly by the Utah Jazz. He carried Baskonia to the ACB semifinals last season. Also, I am Not 100% Sure that Fournier would dominate that much in Euroleague. He was very inconsistent at the EuroBasket
He just joined the NBA, it's too early to judge imo
If European players came back to Europe I'd never watch NBA again
I would ad Dennis Schröder, Daniel Theis and Maxi Kleber into this, Schröder most likely would be a top 3 Guard while Kleber would be one of the best defenders in Europe when in Top From
Schröder is so fast only campazzo could track him ,but not defend
Kleber fits good in the nba
Make a video best players out of NBA and Euroleague. Lot of good players will be on that list.
Fournier's situation blows my mind. It makes absolutely no sense but is indictive of why the Knicks will not win a championship or be a top four team with Thibadeau as coach.
I think fontecchio too, but hopefully he'll get some playing time

As a Magic fan, I saw Fournier and Mario Hezonja as the future of the organisation back in the day, absolutely LOVED what Evan did for us, shame it never worked out. Would love to see him shine in an environment more suited to him
Svi or Oly Fan Evan in place of Canaan + our favorite Greek Passport holder Tyler Dorsey will be perfect for now🤩😄
Niko in place of Bolomboy,Mitoglou for Alec and Naz holding his brand new Greek Passport (summer moves) and we are done for the next 10 years 🤣🤣
I think Siatoslav Mykhailiuk would be better player in Europe and I several years say that he be perfect in Žalgiris
Evan Fournier Orlando career is real. Hope he gets a good second place in a good team to bring back is level
dominant in last EL seaqson boban would only be a backup center now? With all that extra experience? He is not that old.
The per 36 MPG stats of Boban are amazing. Agreed he should be back in Europe.
Tbh - European clubs doesn`t have enough money to hold`em all in roster, we all know that.
Well they could. These players already made for a living through their career. It wouldn't be bad to lower their own salary and go to Euroleague to do some ball'ing
@@zilvis1140 the keyword is - lower salary. only way to get`em here un eu.
I want Fournier in the virtus Bologna, that wuold be fantastic!
Look out for Zach Edey of Purdue. 7'4", dominating the Big Ten right now. I doubt he will be an impact player in the NBA due to his side but would excel in Europe I believe.
Edey overrated, Purdue overrated, IU better, TJD better
@@veganmitherz3797 haha. No way. IU sucks..
As a virtus bologna fan If i can choose i would definitely take boban marjanovic to our team not only because we need to become stronger in the “4/5 spot” but also I really want to see milos teodosic playing with him. It can be really interesting to watch
it's quite simple they're just not athletic enough for 82 games+ with American NBA players
PARTIZAN IS W8ING FOR YOU BERTANS⚫️⚪️
I really think that thanasis would fit in very well in the euroleague again
Fournier to Olympiakos 🔴⚪️💪🏼
Everything this man said are facts,pure facts!!👏👏
I have to throw in a few Asterisks
1* this isn't 2016,Boban is 34 years old not 27. Plus the game is faster here now than it was then and Euroleague has a regular season of 34 matches,Boban isn't playing more than 15 minutes per game in Euroleague.
2* Fournier has a big contract in NBA that he likely won't waive,and even if he did there's plenty of teams that would give him a role.
3*Saric would be just an average role player in Euroleague at best.
What about Danny Avdia, he is a very talented player, he can play defense and attack from both sides
He is really young. He will get a contract from an NBA team.
Hes doing good enough in the nba
what about batum to maccabi tel aviv, he's a maccabi fan and he said that he wants to play in maccabi in the future
why do you put evan fournier in front picture since he never played in euroleague actually ?
Evan is an important commodity in the nba, if the knicks dont want him lots of other teams will grab him..
Super scorer off the bench, put him in a contender.
Yep, tom thibo their coach is clear if ur not atleast decent on defence ur not getting minutes (Derrick Rose is getting this treatment) 110% other teams would have him play meaningful minutes, some even might have him starting. Its just his horrible contracts that hinders him from moving away
I do understand why players wish to attend the NBA league... After a certain point tho, if you are keep being a benchwarmer, it would be nice to reconsider it.. The real reason they keep staying in the NBA is twofold: no actual stress compared to their euroleague role & more money earned for an easier role..
you should definetely put Furkan Korkmaz on that list. He could be a game changer in euroleague
Bro all benchwarmers would thrive in the euroleague.. not just the euros
its because NBA coaches dont let them shoot the ball.
LAURI moved to UTAH so that he could get shoots and now he is scoring a lot as well.
I would really wanted to see either Fournier or Boban to panathinaikos. This team needs help to these positions
Fournier has said multiple times that if he ever came to Europe he would only play for Olympiacos
Sandro still has future in the NBA ...he will shine next year with the Spurs
i really like the fact that you see gogas and sandros potential unlike the nba
I think Willy hernangomez just needs to be on literally any other nba roster than the pelicans. That roster is way to stacked in the front court
I’m guessing even as benchwarmers they earn more money in nba than in europe? I could be wrong of course
Pretty sure that NBA teams don't convince Euroleague players to come over, pay them millions USD, then decide that they can sit on the bench. There has to be a talent gulf. If a guy is averaging 26 points in Euro and then 6 in the NBA, the league must be difficult, despite what Giannis, Jokic and Doncic claim. Teams don't care where a player is from, if he can score or defend, he'll get playing time. Something else is hindering them in the NBA.
bobans biggest disadvantage is his lack of athleticism and being unable to defend on the perimiter because of it. in europe the floor isnt stretched as much as it is in the NBA. thats the main reason he would do SO much better in europe.
edit: thats the reason you simply cant give boban any meaningful minutes in the NBA. its not that hes unskilled, he just doesnt have the right skills for this league.
I want Juancho and Willy to come back home to Madrid
Marjanovic=> RED STAR
Fournier=> "healthy" PANATHINAIKOS
Hernangomez brothers=> REAL MADRID
Michailiuk=> ZALGIRIS
Saric=>GALATASARAY
Bertans=>MACCABI
Len=>VIRTUS
Mamu=>OLYMPIAKOS
Bitadje=>PARTIZAN
I do not get how being picked in 1st vs 2nd round matters when speaking about players who already has YEARS of nba experience. Would not teams hire them based on their nba past stats + current level? Why would 1st vs 2nd pick even matter when you have all this data of nba stats and you see current level of the player?
How about a video on American players who should consider the Euroleague?
Milaknis from žalgiris in the backround
Evan should have never left Boston for ny. Grass aint greener without The Boston Green Mean Machine.
I totally agree with all of these players.
Fournier to Efes and then a 3rd championship in a row is just a piece of cake.
Boban just trying to build a life after basketball.
Maybe Ricky Rubio should be on this list too. We’ll see
Finnaly somone mentioned georgian players thank you
The nba regular season is a joke ??!! I would rather watch Australia nbl or euro league over the hybrid 3 point shootout defenceless garbage dished up every night by nba. It is embarrassing watching the best players on earth play without hand/body checking and travelling calls. No one wants to see scores of 130-120 with 50 3s jacked by both teams up every game
I want Bertans back home..Partizan Belgrade 🖤!🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤💪💪💪
Totally agree with the list. Only the Spurs and back then the Kings loves the European players. It should be called ABA, American Basketball Association again instead of the NBA 😑
This raises a lot of questions about NBA coaches. Are they as good as they're made out to be?
NBA is show ,euroleague is basketball。
All this is ok if we ignore their sallaries guys, forget all this staff
NBA PLAYERS THAT WERE IN THE DOG HOUSE BUT NOT IN EUROPE GOT THAT BIG PAY DAY & JUST SETTLED THAT IS THE REASON SOME JUST FADE AWAY OUT THE NBA
Knicks fan here... I hate seeing Fournier just sitting there on the bench. He can shoot.. I sports bet, and last season he definitely payed off on player prop bets..
Korkmaz, Fontechio???
you must say thanasis antetokoumpo too he was a great player
Almost all of them??? I mean maybe a few guys who in the wrong situation would struggle buuuuut… let’s be honest here. Bacon, Larkin, James, etc. were all fringe guys in the league despite many many chances in summer league, real contract, etc. And are dominant in Euro ball.
So outside of a few stylistic exceptions, I think every few even decent NBA players, much less the good players, would find it hard to absolutely destroy Europe comp
Well it's not actually a waste of their career. Fournier is currently getting paid 18M/year. Same goes for most of them that the money is so much better.
Bertrans is so good
Now that Boban has been waived I wonder what he will do. I personally hope he stays so he can do more commercials 😂
Not going to happen unless NBA players take a massive pay cut and its unlikely. Euro league as good as it is can't pay the NBA salary structure
What about SIMONEFONTECCHIO?
Fournier not playing is travesty. Knicks should send him to a different team.
He can spam paint while nba has 3sec violations
Its harder to score in Euroleague than in the NBA. Just a fact
I think the problem with players shining in europe but sucking in the NBA is because of the difference in playstyle the leagues have
In some cases yes, but players like Fournier have been in the nba for very long that they have adapted well, but then u have someone like Campazzo or Poirier who struggled in their short nba time
Or there is such a phenomenon as Sabonis. It wouldn't shine in the Euroleague either. And in the NBA collects a double-double almost every game
The Hernangomez playing for Toronto would be a fringe player in the Euroleague as well... Lets just be real about Svi Mykhailiuk as well.... dude cant switch and his lateral on defense is well below NBA level. If you being benched cause of your lack of Defensive abilities in the NBA.... same gonna be in the Euroleague.
We move on to the 3rd former Toronto Raptors on this list Alex Len. Sorry don't even know how he made the NBA. I would take Anthony Bennett over this guy to play center.
Bertans will come back to Partizan one day!
willy is doing good byt not shining in EL rn
and Juancho is playing bad in Pana
What about Bogdan Bogdanovic?
O think Krejčí should be on this list
Still very young and he signed a contract in 2021
furkan korkmaz would flourish in euroleague also
Don't fool yourselves, it's easier to score in the NBA - Doncic, Jokic & Giannis .
Cant let them be too good for team USA
And the Hernangómez brothers i dont know why they are playing there, the NBA are wasting their talent
Daniel Theis back to the German bbl
Evan is great option for asvel
Evan Fournier to olympiakos in three years
I think they "play" there because its a dream playing in the NBA... then i think there is the money... 🤑 1 year in the Nba is 5 in the Eurolegue..
We all know PAO needs help , but Fournier on the thumbnail with the green shirt is not it. He's a fan of Olympiacos basketball.
So what? I wouldn't mind having him at all at PAO. Even Bourousis joined us at some point, which was unimaginable in the past. Or you think it's impossible to convince him to, even with a good offer?
@@roothik Ofcourse you wouldn't. That's not the point of my comment though. Evan has had a interview a few months ago, stating if he ever went back to Europe, he'd prefer Olympiacos. Makes the thumbnail look weird. To answer your question, i think PAO needs to focus on multiple players in the transfer window, instead of dumping money on Fournier. They did the same with Bacon, and failed miserably.
At the end of the day, NBA is a national tournament, so is normal they priorize national players. Special cases are Doncic, Antetukoumpo and Jokic. They are superstars and "marketing" worth it. This year really hope Spain win the Basketball Mundial, to show a lesson to USA, like Argentina do two decades ago.
simone fontecchio?
Fournie in partizan bruh
