Don't be afraid to apply a lot of pressure to get the slider off. It took me a little while because I was hesitating, but it does come off. Easy to pop back in too.
Oh my word! I was throwing away the lids and buying new ones because I couldn’t stand the gunk growing inside that little closed section of the lid! This video is fantastic!!
Was there a slider redesign at some point? I'm wondering if I have an older mug, the slider I have doesn't look like the video, and the plastic looks like something that would shatter under too much pressure. The slider itself is the same material as the lid, and only has two silicone "bumpers" that provide friction.
@stellworkstudio4391 I did mine after a hot water wash and it didn't break... I'm wondering if the style we have only does the deep cleaning method shown here if still hot?

All the people (including Swig (TM)'s own instructions) telling people to "not be afraid to apply lots of pressure" to pop off the slider are giving horrible advice. I tried using the blunt end of a spoon, as directed, and it put a huge gash in the silicone piece in the slider, ruining it. Last time I buy one of these garbage products!

I have been putting up with a filthy lid for MONTHS thinking there was no way to remove it. Thank you for this video 🥲
I’ve been trying to clean under this thing for days! Worked perfectly and now I have a clean lid. Thank you!

So thankful for this simple video. Mine was growing crap and I put to side until I just UA-camd . Lol. Deep cleaning this thing!
Thanks for the video. Always wondered why there was no way to clean these lids, but there is! Love my Swig mug. Keeps the coffee hot.😋
omg .. i have tried a HOUR to do this thank YOU >>>>
Thank you, this worked awesome and was able to finally get it nice and clean :)
Very helpful, although it took a lot more muscle for me than what was shown.
Hallelujah!!!
Worked for me. Thought i broke it. You gotta take it off and snap it back on in the CLOSED position.
Yeah I used some pressure after trying repeatedly. And it broke.
Same thing happened to me
Suuuper helpful. More than others I have seen
Thank you!!
You are so welcome!

That’s the kind I have, and the slider did indeed snap in two when I did what they said to do in the video.

Thanks for the video! Spoon wouldn’t work, I had to use a butter knife
When I took off my slider, one of the tabs broke off. My slider is clear plastic. Not sure if that matters.
So is mine.
Try heating under hot tap water before removing. When reinstalling, put one side in first
Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks! Very helpful. I was afraid I had broken it but it worked great! :)
Wow, I always remind myself to check youtube, the lid was looking really disgusting, thanks for this awesome video
The side pieces that keep the slider on broke off.
It worked! Thank you!
I got it off but no way to get back on.
Hi Crystal! The slider snaps back into place once removed. Hope this helps!
Make sure it's in the closed position when trying to snap it back in
I DID THIS WITH MINE AND THE SLIDER BROKE IN HALF SO ALSO BE CAREFUL
I am having so much trouble getting the slider piece off!
Apply a lot of pressure
@@rebeccawhorton7080 Thanks so much. I got the piece off after applying a lot of pressure!! I thought I was going to break it!
What would be the best tool?
I did exactly as shown and my slider cracked. 😡
