I'm always confounded why Kevin and his bands aren't filling stadiums around the world....his music is the best thing since The Beatles, and yet they've existed under the public's "radar".....perhaps too far ahead of their time....in a hundred years they'll be a house hold name !
they're very good. i love them but you might be exaggerating a tiny bit. not even because their quality isn't high enough -- but because they're not mainstream appealing enough. they're weirder than the Beatles songs everybody loves. maybe not weirder than the weird Beatles songs but...... you know what I mean. Also , vocally Kevin Barnes is probably not as appealing to everybody. again, i love the band, but there's a reason they're, unfortunately, not this degree of incredibly-famous. and honestly, Kevin Barnes probably wouldn't want to be. he still lives in athens, georgia (which is where I live, i've seen him around a couple times) and probably doesn't want to be known to the degree of people coming up to him asking for autographs when they see him out and about in town.
But the Beatles didn't do many live performances, as of Montreal does. In the Beatles vs the Rolling Stones argument, concert playing is a key criterium.
I've always seen it as Bowie's pre-Ziggy records: his songs were amazing, but the great public just didn't find the artist appeanling at all. If Kevin wrote for main stream artists I'm sure he would've made great hits by now.
That performance of Bassem Sabry KILLED. Just excellent. Edit: AND Bunny ain't no kind of rider after wowww Edit: and the end of Empyrean Abattoir. Such good performances thank you uploading this seriously. But I do need to say to whoever edited this video, I get it but there's no need ever to keep showing the visuals they are putting on screen during the performance. I can't imagine anyone watching this would be thinking "this is cool and all watching them jam out but I really wish I could get a better view of those background vids.." Now having it overlay the band playing I thought was cool and fitting and added something to the video. That was good, but full screen while I'd rather be seeing the band (and sometimes at that specific moment..) well it was driving me nuts aha. Just nit-picking either way. Good video regardless.

So fucking true! Their music is so damn solid. They truly create masterpieces of sound and lyrics, just timeless.
The definition of hyperbole lmao. The best thing since the beatles......oooook
