The Past is a Grotesque Animal saved my life. I sat on my couch with a gun, and instead cried myself back to reality to this song. Whenever I'm feeling defeated, it's my go-to auditory hug.
I have a deep connection to this song through a past band mate. I'm into a lot of music but Kevin Barnes and Of Montreal is beyond any concept or inner-vision I could imagine. HE MAKES DREAMS TANGIBLE
Bunny Ain’t No Kind of Rider is so nostalgic for me. Being in middle school at the time, being up all night talking to my crushes on AIM. Good times lol.
A grand achievement of modern music. Kevin Barnes is one of the greatest songwriters in the 21st century. At 42 years of age he comes off as more youthful than most 20 somethings. Shine on.
I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl, but they did half Hissing Fauna and half Skeletal Lamping, still simply unforgettable. I believe that is when the keyboardist Dottie got proposed to on stage as well!
think i saw them live around that same time frame, 2009, was the craziest show ive ever seen! man in tiger head giving upside down mock felatio to jesus wearing a diaper, and all these priests with pig masks? it was crazy...they are very interesting indeed.

15 years later, and this still remains my favorite album of all time. To this day, this albums understands me better then most people do. Thank you for still being there all these years.
From the Elephant 6 days to now, Kevin and co. have seen me through much of my adult life, and they feel like old friends. But _Hissing Fauna_ dug its claws deep in my soul. It's my existential angst wrapped in a pretty bow.
I know some elephant 6 fans don't really like them now since they changed after they left, but I personally love Of Montreal new and old Their elephant 6 works are great, their post elephant 6 works are great What else to say?
How come of Montreal understands my feelings better than I do like I can't describe how I'm feeling half the time and then I listen to them and look at a lyric and realize "Wait that describes how I'm feeling right now perfectly"
This is easily one of my favorite 15-20 albums ever.. for context I'm typically more an indie rock guy, my favorite band of all time is Modest Mouse. I was a metalhead as a teen, that's what got me playing guitar in the first place. I still listen to all the music I did when I was younger but the nostalgia I feel when I play this album is unmatched. Takes me right back to such an exciting time in my life.
This was the first album I heard of "Of Montreal", been a fan ever since. Listened to all the albums, and I still love this album more than any other, because I played this album more than any other album out there.
I was writing a book that no one cares about or maybe could rate to, so I just deleted it all and will say this: while this is not my favorite Of Montreal album, this is one that holds great meaning for me. That is all. I appreciate the art that I can never make given breath and life for others such as myself to enjoy. Thank you.
I really enjoyed Sunlandic Twins, Aurete Gloom, and Lousy with Silvian Brair. But I also went through a big Skeletal Lamping phase...It's really hard to pick one XD Satanic Panic in the Attic is also up there. It really depends on what I'm feeling that day. I really appreciate the Eno tones of AG, and the return to the 60s sound (almost) in LwSB. But Sunlandic Twins...I don't think I ever get tired of that album XD @@tissilix Kind of a cheat, because I really like a lot of their albums (Cherry Peel is good, too. I sadly wasn't able to get into The Gay Parade much, but maybe I should revisit it?)

Seeing them do this in full at Music Tastes Good on the 10th anniversary is one of my fondest concert memories - like seeing a massive symphony. I don't think Kevin Barnes hit a wrong note all night.
Found this in probably the oddest way possible, via a CD that I saw and decided to pick up randomly off the street. God bless that random CD on the street lol

tbh I’ve just started listening to this band like 3 months ago, and it has filled a whole I didn't know I had. I've said it to my friends but I'll say it here again. Nothing would ever be enough for my ears. The music does everything I like and that I used to search in different artists, but here I just have it all. Don't get me started on the lyrics. I feel like every song I've heard so far speaks to me and says so many interesting things. If I had to choose just 1 artist to listen to till the end of my life and give up everything else, I'd choose to just listen to of Montreal
