Yeah man cool video. I just got the MPC One+ after using Logic for years. It’s a steep learning curve but that sound coming out of there in standalone is crazy. I still use controller mode with MPC software as a plugin for Logic.

Very relatable! I went from cubase, to studio one, then reason since reason 4. Now I’m at the sp404mk2, EP-133, and koala. Why do I still feel like I want an MPC also?!

I had the MPC 1000. Then when the Native Instruments drop MK1 the software and hardware was the best workflow for me. I started with ProTools and tried other DAWs but always went back to PT. My workflow is NI and PT.

I can speak the quality of daws. I've never used one. I feel like everyone has their weapon of choice but the mpc has always been mine. Especially as a former drummer. I have to physically connect with my art. Daws have amazing utility akai will always be a part of the beat culture.

Nah you ain’t tripping. I was a longtime Maschine user and last year I bought the MPC X before the SE was released. Soon as I turned it on I could hear a difference. Been using it ever since. I use it completely stand alone, which is why I wanted it to begin with. I’m real partial to the MPC 60 emulation in there, I hear a difference with that one that sounds good to my ear. And you right, Roger Linn said they had great sound quality and circuit design. I was just messing around with the X before I watched your video.

I've experience in Reason, Ableton Live (great with the Push 2/3), MPC Live 2 (standalone mode), Koala Sampler (very intuitive), and Logic Pro (iPad). And my experience is that you can get fantastic sounding stuff out of each of them. In the end IMO it just comes down to what you enjoy using and making music with.

The reason MPC in general is better is the clock resolution from the microprocessor...which isn't tied to an OS like a PC, and the MPC microprocessor isn't necessarily 2024 power--which is the key. You want that in a DAW like FL for example? Timebase: 24 is about the closest.

Great video and NO YOU AIN'T TRIPPIN !!! I had the same experience as a new producer in 2001 getting into the MPC 3000 and coming off my computer. You're 100% right. They do sound great, super musical and the quality out of the box is high.
However let's not forget an MPC is not acoustic or analogue and at the soul of it's core is digital ...I find as a more experienced producer now 24 years (and 5 large format commercial recording studios) later that the MPC's are often far too limited and that I can get the same feel and sound or even better from any computer now.
It's not voodoo, it's nor magic, what makes the MPC magic is it's workflow it's midi engine & resolution and audio output compression. I prefer Ableton in the end, as you can do so much more especially with midi and audio that really inspires anything you can imagine.
PS: Serato Sample is such a game changer (for sampling) for hip hop and it's a plugin for a DAW - I can't imagine not working with it in 2024

The next one I'm purchasing is the Mpc Live 2. I have the MPC Studio and the MPC key 37. The key 37 is perfect for me but I like the full-size pads on the studio. Basically, it all depends on what workflow will work for you. Look up a few videos explaining each one and go with your move. The Live 2 would be my recommendation though.

I started with reason myself back in 05 then before the balled dropped in 07 I went out and bought the 2500 and I’ve been a MPC head ever since.. I’ve tried almost every daw and have owned a Mashine and even way back when I had a Roland MV 8000.. NOTHING has the swing & feel of a MPC unless you go in the basement and dust the cobwebs off a SP 1200, nothing else will ever compare

  • @lcdavis6236

Yeah man, you’re not tripping at all. You reminded me of my first time when I got an MPC that was back in the days I got a MPC II we didn’t have good DAW’s back then, but I was using a rackmount sampler and a external sequencer with a keyboard, but it was nothing like the MPC it changed the game. I’ve been a MPC guy every since although I have Machine and other stuff, but the MPC that’s my go to until I need to finish up my song I got to hook up to the computer you know..

Honestly, I think you are Trippin on the sound quality being better. I think you might be caught up in the mystique. My first MPC was the 60. Then I got the 2000. Then I got the 2500. Upgraded that too JJOS. Got the extra large screen upgrade for it. Eventually, I got the X. I fell in love with that thing. But honestly, it doesn’t sound any different than a computer to me. Nothing wrong with that. Computers sound great. Obviously in the right hands though. I have been mixing and master and for over 20 years so I trust my ears. It is possible that the workflow inspires you to make slightly better decisions maybe? That could impact how the overall beat feels to you. That is still a W as far as I am concerned. On a completely different note. Dot the algorithm brought me to this video and I have never watched your content before. Are you from Louisiana? I grew up in North Louisiana lol. Something sounds familiar.

Go to dynamics and choose composer vintage , click it and the red interface will pop up , the knob at the bottom on the right turn it up 🤯🤯🤯🤯 you will get the MPC 3000 sound more so than the vintage 3000 effect.
