@@kingarthur8616 I would say it depends on the company, if they have shareholder meetings to discuss the state of the company and future predictions/planning etc. then could absolutely be there if you’re a shareholder. However, you most likely won’t be making any decisions or have a say in any goings on at the company.

Investors are rarely at the board of directors. Unless they own a significant share of the company. 2M$ is ridiculously small for a company like Blizzard. My father sits on some boards, he's been a manager for 45+ years. It's usually people like that, that are sitted on those boards. It's usually a part time job and it's not rare to see people sitting on more than one board. Also, the board wouldn't deal with WoW, they plan the long term vision of the whole company, they don't do the day-to-day.

To get a Seat at the Board requires "Majority Investor" status, which means they must own more than X percentage of the stock; Which varies from company to company. Most companies have a board consisting of ~6 to ~30 people, ~6 being the smallest to ~30 being the highest. The majority of "majority" investors are founders (obviously). As their investment in the company was a base one and over time it's value incremented. For example, if someone invested $2 million into a company at it's time of going public when the net worth of the company was $10 million, they at the time owned 20% of the company; 20 years later that company's net worth is now $200 million, but here's the kicker, the original investor still owns that 20% stake, meaning their original investment had scaled with the increased value of the company. Meaning they are now also worth $40 million; Their position has stayed on the board for the entire time and likely will not change. This is how corporations work. This is also why finding an original investment statement in a company which is now a global giant, which was made say 50 years ago at their founding, is worth as much as striking oil or gold.
2 million isn't much of an investment, it is a small sum of Blizzard's net worth. Though she would be living comfortably on the returns, so long as the company's stock stays stable. Low scale investments are a gamble at the best of times because if a crash happens they can suddenly find themselves owing their own money to the banks. I know someone who put $800 000 into a company which then went up during the financial downturn in 2017, now that person is $400 000 in debt as a result, they not only lost all their money from their investment, when the company went bankrupt it caused them to owe money to the banks! That is the risk you take when you invest on your own. What did they get out of their $400K investment you ask? Royalty checks of roughly $700 a fortnight... was it worth it? They thought it was... till it wasn't.

Is it? It depends what her portfolio looks like. If she is over leveraged on 1 or 2 stocks that is a horrible investment. Would be better to spread that 2 million across 10-15 solid companies rather than dump a lions share in to one. I highly doubt she is sitting on 20+ million to be properly diversified. Might need to work overtime licking those mics if this thing takes a massive dive. Lets also look at the fact nobody cares about overwatch 2, we are probably over a year away from a wow expansion, the merger isn't guaranteed to go through, and the pipeline of games doesn't look great for ATVI although we still don't know what this new survival game is yet. Video game stocks are more impacted by news and projections that current reportings because of how cyclical games in general are. Only time will tell if this is a solid investment or not, but too much risk to have such a large stake in one company. This is amateur investing at its finest.
