    As someone who flies behind an O-360 variant, this series has been awesome to watch and learn.

    Very informative and interesting - thanks for taking the time to record these. I own a Mooney with an IO-360 and it's useful to see the innards of the engine.

    I recently purchased my first airplane which has an O-360-A4J. As I understand it, it's identical to the engine you're working on, except it has different magnetos. These videos are very informative and provide a better understanding of the engine's design. Although I won't be working on it myself, it's also interesting to see the practical techniques used to disassemble the engine and work on it.

      Angle iron and all-thread. Our tool is a copy of a tool I borrowed years ago. Thanks!

    I'm loving this series! Thanks so much for putting the work into it.
    Couple of questions:
    For your case jack, which studs do you connect to? Any concern about the non-perpendicular pull? How do you keep the separation parallel?
    Will you be reusing the tappets? It doesn't look like you tracked their position, which surprised me.

    Really am enjoying watching these O-360 overhaul videos. Thanks for posting. And truthfully, you don't need to overlay music, and speed up the videos. I think I speak for many, just watching the full length, if you can do that. Or break em up into smaller segments?

      Thanks! I'm trying to keep the vids 8=12 minutes so I don't lose a lot of folks. We will always show the complete process of any task but probably fast forward on repetitive stuff...

      Longer video will make to much to upload... but you can choose slow playback from your UA-cam screen .. lower right corner and will give you control of speed....

    Would be nice to see close up of cam and crank. Curious about corrosion on an engine that say that long. Enjoying the process.

    Just how warm did you heat the crankcase? Looks like the crank and cam were hot to the touch.

    G, day Hanger Rats from Sydney, Australia.
    * io360 disassembled
    Q1. The 1995 Mandatory service bulletin - is that because of the incompatible gear metals (steel v aluminium)?
    Q2. The tapping with the soft hammer " the other one was smeared away" crank bearing seats?
    Have fun🌏🇭🇲

      A1. Lots of background. The dissimilar metals didn't work. They also tried sintered steel parts because they were high tech and less expensive. That didn't work. The AD and the SB read like a Tolstoy novel...

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  3 роки тому +1

      2 x 4 hours to completely disassemble the engine. I'll try to put an hour tally together at the end...Thanks!
