  • In this video, I conclude my recent trip to Norwich and have the pleasure of meeting a truly inspirational Photographer, Jack.
I recently travelled to Norfolk to create a few Fine Art Landscape images. So far, I have visited the Happisburough Beach area, creating three videos and in this video, I'm at Walcott Beach.
This is the first time photographing in the area and I have to tell you, this is the place that just keeps on giving! I thought the Fine Art images I captured at the start of the trip would be tough to beat, but I honestly believe, the images I created from Walcott Beach were the best of my trip.
Visiting the area and creating Fine Art images wasn't the real reason I travelled to Norfolk though, the real reason was to meet up with a local Photographer. A photographer I have followed for a few years now.
Meet Jack. I won't say too much, just watch the video and see his work for yourself.

Your are a amazing photographer, Jacks interview was brilliant and yes he is a amazing photographer too! but the most touching words had nothing to do with photography and they were, those amazing guys up there...the sound, it's the sound of freedom if it was not for them I could not do this...Thank you Gary for a wonderful blog. I enjoyed that.

I’m Jack, without the beard 😂 exactly the same position, would dearly love photography to be my full time job but you have to know what brings the bacon home and that is what I have done for the last 42 years. Photography is my escape from the normal, I enjoy it enormously, have a very supportive and encouraging wife but trying to make a living from it would probably spoil it 😉 roll on retirement and the chance to devote more time to it 📷👍

Love both yours and Jacks photo's, I find them very inspiring and am trying to achieve similar reults. Something Jack said in his interview resonated with me, when he talked about his level of confidence around whether he thought his images were good enough and also the fact that he is very self critical, I am exactly the same! Anyway keep up the good work, landscapes and fast jets are strange bedfellows, but it works for me. Thank you.

Love the interview. I am a manufacturing engineer / property manager of 22 rental properties near Cleveland, Ohio. Photography is my happy place. It is my creative release that has brought me a little money here and there. In addition I. have 2 kids (1 in college) and a Wife. You have to love having a spouse who give you the time to get out for a day or two and support your craft. Keep up the great work. Never lose that joy of shooting in the moment.

Amazing photo's Gary. You are indeed an inspiration to all amateurs because you inspire confidence to keep trying. I know that without you and a few other professionals on UA-cam, I would have given up, especially as I'm now in my seventies and sunrise and sunsets are not always possible due to family commitments/health/reduced income. I watched a four year old video you made on the Isle of Skye, which encouraged me to visit Scotland and especially Skye last year, and after rewatching that video recently, have booked another visit for next year. Thank you, thank you, thank you, keep up the good work.

Agree with Jack that Norfolk can be quite challenging for photography. Whilst there's lot to photograph it doesn't always have that instant dramatic composition that you perhaps more easily find amongst the hills and fells. Think it means that often you opt for a minimalist fine art approach as a default 'go to'. Luckily living in Norfolk I love that style of photography but it must be a real challenge for Norfolk photographers who don't like fine art photography and who strive to capture something which is equally compelling.

Hi Gary…loving your videos…..you mentioned at the beginning that removing the tall post etc from the groyne would be difficult……have you tried Generative Fill in Photoshop Beta…it’s bread and butter for that tool…probably best to do it in two parts due the current low res limitation

Gary, I'm following you since, I don't know! Just FYI, you got a dust spot , right top on your shots. Long exp shots always got such issues due to longer exposure, small aparture, etc. Sometimes in my case, so many I get tired removing them at post (LrCC).
