Hey everyone! Thank you so much for watching. The love and support we've gotten from you all over the years is just incredibly overwhelming and we can't thank you all enough for your continued support! This video was one of the most difficult to film as we tried to remain objective throughout and not appear biased and hopefully we nailed that balance. It's an incredible car and we'll be sure to update you guys at least once a month and let you know of any issues, good or bad! Enjoy the full review, we leave tomorrow for LA to drive and film the refreshed 2019 Honda Pilot!
Great review. I have a 2018 911 GT3 which I traded in for 981 Boxster GTS which I had for 4 years. For everyday driving, I would take the 718 GTS over the GT3 hands down. You're not missing out too much with Apple Car Play. Also never think that 718 is less of a Porsche because it's not a 911, it simply not true! If it has a Porsche badge it a true Porsche. Also the same deal with the flat 4 vs the flat 6. The 981 GTS has a better flat 6 note, but those 718 turbos kick you in the nuts each time, so it makes up for it. The boxer engines love to rev!! Enjoy your new toy, it will be the best car you will ever own. Congrats and enjoy your Porsche.
I picked up my new Cayman 718 GTS one month ago (May 7th 2019) and LOVE it... Just put over 5K miles on it with no problems in just under four weeks... This U Tube video help me decide on my purchase... Thanks for your Outstanding review!!! Keep up the hard work and your great reviews!!!... Note: I'm going for another 5K Porsche trip in three weeks!!! My car will not gather dust in the garage!!! I describe my 718 GTS as it's like driving a high performance motorcycle when it comes to acceleration and braking similar to my K1600 motorcycle, but its nice to stay comfy inside vice outside... The handling is off the charts, best car I've ever had... The new Cayman GT4 with the new 6 cylinder will definitely be on my radar around 2022, but I have no regrets with the Cayman GTS, NONE... I had one long single day drive putting 1300 miles on my Cayman and averaged 27mpg / 79 mph!!! I'm 6'1" tall, 220 lbs, but the leg room is perfect for my long legs, no aches or pains in my back after this long drive... Love, LOVE IT!!
Just bought a low mileage (3K) 2018 base Cayman. Couldn't imagine the performance upgrade the GTS option affords. The 300 horse model is more than enough fun for the street. These are simply BRILLIANT cars. Great video too BTW.
I own a 718 boxster in China and absolutely love it. Because I own this car, I've seen every 718 review on UA-cam and hands down - this is the best review out there! I crack up every time you put the pedal down! Lol. Great job,
The anti-hellcat, it puts the power down, which is so impressive. That engine note is great for what it is. Happy to live vicariously for a few minutes, congrats Sofyan.
Once you drive a Porsche, you will find that the continuous smiles & hysteric laughters comes as a standard with their cars. Best heavenly feeling on earth.
Never thought I would get popcorn, coffee and get cozy in couch just to watch a car review. It's amazing how good your review actually is. Keep up the good work!
Best review I've seen of the 718. Great job. I'm glad you didn't mind the engine sound, as everyone else makes such a big deal about it while it actually sounds just fine. I've driven one of these myself, and found the engine sound pleasant. You did a great job of showing all the details about this car, and is helping me make up my mind on what I'm going to get.
One can notice as you speak kindly about this vehicle that you're a very proud Porsche owner, as you should be. Congrats on your car man, it's an amazing & manly toy.
First off - this dude sounds EXACTLY like Josh Flagg from Million Dollar Listings! 😂 Secondly by far the best most informative video on UA-cam about the 718 I’ve found after buying mine. Long enough to give all the useful information but not so long like others dribbling on and on, great job man! 🤙
When you are buying a premium brand car like Porsche, you have to accept that they are not building cars for the masses like Ford or Toyota. They are building cars for a clientele that want's to personalize nearly everything. The 'base' car is kind of like a blank canvas to express yourself on. They do go a bit overboard on the amount of options they offer. . .
Brian D. I understand that and love that you can customize this car completely to your liking, but it's just so damn expensive. They charge you hundreds to thousands for everything.
LMFAO OMG I just love it when you test cars with shocking acceleration that makes you start cursing... 😂😂😂. My favorite reaction of yours was definitely the Acura NSX which made you cuss then get quiet for a few minutes. Priceless! You better not ever stop doing reviews lol... One of my favorite video journalists ever!
I love love love the 718 Cayman GTS, including the sound of the flat 4. I don't understand why every so called enthusiast has been bitching about it. People just want to complain about something even though they will never own one. I think it sounds awesome, especially when you're revving it up, and it definitely performs better than the previous model. I definitely plan to buy one of these in the next few years. Anyway, it's been almost a year, we need more 718 content!
Absolutely awesome video. You can tell you're a real enthusiast. Seeing the joy you have driving it is just so much fun to watch. Your face on that first "launch control" was just so joyful. Thanks for sharing this video. So many people hate on the sound of the GTS but I have had an STI and Two WRX's so I'm used to the Boxer sound. I would love to have the 6cyl but was not going to pay over 100K. Great vid.
One day I’ll have this in my garage. Bought my first car about 5 months ago, ‘19 Miata RF. Absolutely love it, I can’t imagine having a Cayman GTS. I’d end up marrying it.
Porsche sports cars puts the power down so well. Thanks to its engine placement, you can floor the accelerator with confidence and not worry about wheel spin or loss of control. Once you get in one of these, you'll think front engine "sports car" are a joke. Front engine cars make the rear so light, its impossible to put 100% of the power down without wheel spin.
The Cayman GTS is a phenomenal car. Ignore the fact it isn't a showstopper in terms of raw power; it has plenty to make it an absolute blast to drive. If anyone has driven a 2016 or earlier cayman with the NA engines, this car feels much different with the improved power band. I previously had a 2016 Cayman GTS which we put a lot of miles on cruising the coast, and a couple track days. I have not owned a 718 but did a track day in one and was blown away by how great it drove. Do not get sucked in by the allure of the "supercar 911's". I have a new 911 Turbo S now and I can honestly say I had more fun driving around town in the Cayman(much more playful), and on the back roads or track it's just more enjoyable spending a little more time in the gears focusing on technique. 911 is an amazing car, but Cayman owners are enjoying their cars just as much if not more. If all you care about is drag racing... then go get some enormous-go-straight-american-hotrod.
Sure, the 718 is sharper, but the engine note for me was a disappointment. Had the ecu of my 981 Cayman S remapped to 364hp, 420Nm, 0-100km/h 3.89sec. Believe me, it's now a beast. Pulls like the clappers from 3500rpm to redline, with the legendary Porsche wail. I laugh during and after every drive ... The best $1900 option Porsche never included! All on stock air filters, inlet and exhaust manifolds.
they actually *FIXED* the orientation of the +/- shift in the manual gate -- pulling back SHOULD be an upshift and pushing forward a downshift. Porsche had this wrong for many years and fixed it on the 991.1 GT3 and now the correction has trickled down to the carrera/boxster/cayman range. It's how sequential gearbox shift levers are in race cars. When you're accelerating and being pushed back into your seat, it's more ergonomic to pull back on the lever rather than push forward. Nice review! W
Finally, a truly comprehensive review of a 718 GTS and all it's options for people shopping for this car. From the heated/cool seats to the hidden heated steering wheel button, there are numerous details that invaluable when you're looking at all the options Porsche offers. It's a noticeably different type of review when one purchase it as their own car vs. press fleet. Great job. And congratulations on the purchase. You've come a long ways from the Focus ST "I would own something like this" review.
Great video. People always want time spent on the exterior of the car, especially if they're considering buying one. Everything is very informative. Keep up the great videos.
The face you make and things you say when you are more than satisfied with your purchase.... 26:16🤑🤯😎😎😎 congrats on your purchase. Best car review channel.
Congrats on the new ride Sofyan! Love to see enthusiasts get to drive their dream cars. It's like watching magic unfold before your eyes. The car suits you very much. Enjoy it my friend!
Yeah it's okay. I mean, it's nowhere near as good as a 1.8l Toyota Corolla in terms of sporty performance and driving dynamics, but the Porsche is definitely second best... which is still a good position.
@@hunterwolfe6295most examples I saw while buying my 981 GTS (I had a 718S, I kinda went backwards rather than forwards). Were only around 120 Canadian.
You young fellas are so funny. Launch control. Back in the day we mashed the gas, lifted the brake pedal and off you went. Sometimes sideways but it was fun.
I think the love affair with the 911 is more associated with history and heritage. I know that is one of the things I love about mine. Although, mid -engine design is king.(Corvette is coming with a mid-engine, cool!)
Well you convinced me, I have been thinking of getting one of these for a while. After watching this I phoned the Porsche garage to make an appointment, going in a couple of days to order a GTS in Lava orange. I had an f-type but didn’t like it due to the bad build quality and cheap interior, great sound but that was about it.
This may be the most anticipated car review of my life....my favorite car and my favorite reviewer! I love how you addressed the sound of the flat 4. I think it sounds great. Also, as a lifelong driver of manuals, this is probably the only sports car I'd own with an auto. Excellent review!
Dude That’s the best review I’ve seen of a cayman. I sold my ‘15 GTS and I regret it every day!! To me this is the best car out there, just an incredible car that can be a mild car to drive or a beast on the track. I do miss the flat 6 sound but the new engine is a beast!! Great job
I feel like half the things Sofyan always complains about are absent from his own vehicle, lol.....HID headlights, manual transmission, Apple car play, leather stiched interior, and many more. But looks like a real nice car. Enjoy!!
Solid review. I know you decided to sell yours. I recently bought a 2018 with 20k miles on it. The PADM failed immediately after I drove it off the lot, but fortunately the dealer is repairing it. I'm really looking forward to living with the car and getting it on the track. It's my first Porsche.
I have the burmisester in my 17 GTS macan and love it. also have a 17 718S miami blue, chalk int, chron, yellow gauges and belts, loaded car...love that 2! good review!
Liked and Subbed. This is a genuinely enjoyable review. Detailed in a way that most people would appreciate, particularly those who will probably never be able to buy one. Well done.
Awesome choice Sofyan! That is also my dream car! For the money, a good balance of affordability, performance and livability in a sports car. It might not be a straight six but who cares. The speed and handling make you forget that anyways. Great review and keep up the great work! Your reviews IMO are the best on youtube! :)
Yes and yes. My 981 Cayman S has a remapped ecu and achieves 364hp, 420Nm, 0-100km/h 3.89sec... I don't require anything more from a sports car. I laugh during and after every drive!
My wife owns a Porsche Boxster that I drive every now and then and I hate to admit, it handles much better than my F80 M3..in my opinion the 781 cayman s is the best value for money..power, handling, performance value and looks , you cannot get much better...
This review aged well. It’s a perfect review and to be honest, I’m looking for the four cylinder. I like the racing history of the Porsche four cylinder.
PDK is definitely the way to go on this model. It works so well. I can tell you it’s spooky how it reads your mind, especially on the downshifting, I know purists are gonna want a stick but honestly guys, do yourself a favour on this Porsche it definitely ENHANCES the experience and actually improves power and handling. There I said it, just waiting for all the trolls now🙈
A great sports car indeed. Mine came with Alcantara as standard in the GTS. Had a 981 Boxster S with the flat six. My new Cayman GTS sounds different but I absolutely have no problem with the crackle and pop of this new flat four! Love it.
Congrats! She's a beaut! I think after you try the flat 6 you'll understand what people mean about the sound. Either way it's a stunning car. I wonder if anyone's tried engine swapping this with a flat 6 so it'll be like a GT4? That would be mega.
BTW, Porsche purists notwithstanding, this flat four sounds great. Has it's own sound and definitely better than an inline four. Not worse than, just different from my inline sixes or boxer six. Congratulations on your new "business" lease.
Great review of a car I’m really interested in. The only thing that puzzles me is why on earth you’d have a front plate by choice, moreover have the parking sensor sound off every time you start her up because of said plate - that would drive me nuts.
Have great respect for your reviewing skills, its not easy to do, I reviewed the 718 Cayman last week and agree with most of what you say, I wish I could get 40k views in 2 days !!
thank you that was the first review I actually got to hear the engine compared to my 987, it really reminds me of my old Honda from the 90's with intake/exhaust. Definietly an angry 4 cylinder, love the flat-6 sound but this isn't bad and reminds me of my youth.
All that money and still fake aluminum with no leather interior. You have to pay extra.... Ah Porsche and their options. Granted, I, like most wouldn't care too much if I was actually buying one, but still, goddamn. You spend nearly 100 grand and still no leather? lol.
Great choice in sports cars. I had a new corvette was fun to drive but cheaply made. In the first 4 years I was constantly having things fixed on it. Wasn’t so bad during warranty but got expensive quick when warranty expired. Never get one again.
The 718 GTS is the most EXCELLENT Porsche ever made as pure streetcar. Better than my ex 1985 911, my ex 964 Carrera 2, and my ex 987.1CS. Way better in everyway possible including the humble sound. Fools them everytime.
Good for you getting your dream car, I’m sure you worked very hard for it, I do prefer the sound of the flat 6 myself, but that 4 definitely sounds better than a Subaru. I saw your review of the 2014 Fiesta ST and went out and bought one, it has 68,000+ miles on it and it’s still running strong, I’m on my 4th set of tires already that’s how much I love it, it puts the biggest smile on my face when I hit the Sport Mode button. Keep up the awesome reviews, your the best one out there. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼
I have the exact same car in Carrara White Metallic (my 4th Cayman - had a 987, a 987.2, and a 981 previously). Your review is spot-on and exactly how I would have reviewed it.

I feel like half the things Sofyan always complains about are absent from his own vehicle, lol.....HID headlights, manual transmission, Apple car play, leather stiched interior, and many more. But looks like a real nice car. Enjoy!!
Should’ve gotten the manual. That’s why they brought it back for the gt3. All the Porsche lover wants that manual.
Pure white with black accents. Never a bad combination.
Solid review. I know you decided to sell yours.
I recently bought a 2018 with 20k miles on it. The PADM failed immediately after I drove it off the lot, but fortunately the dealer is repairing it. I'm really looking forward to living with the car and getting it on the track. It's my first Porsche.
pound for pound, $ vs $ the cayman is a better buy than a 911.
Well done.
Keep us updated on repairs and maintenance costs. Although since you bought it new, most of those costs are probably covered in the first few years.
xuimod absolutely! We won’t sugar coat anything. Hoping this car surprises us with not needing any warranty claimed repairs during our time with it!
Very good review! Well done mate! I've got my 718 Boxster GTS last week. Loving it!
Li Wan that’s a good car. It just needs more power, which would cost a ton of $$ to do
981 for life...I will never sell my gts, that flatsix sound is incredible
yap. HALF of a sports car's value comes from it's sound. the 718 sounds like dogshit
Same here. Love my 981 S
In love with the GTS. Drove one that looked exactly like yours. Congrats.
So glad to see you’re enjoying your new car
I was a passenger in one the weekend.. awesome car.. The white does look amazing on the shape
In my opinion the sound of a N/A flat 6 is better.
But in terms of performance the turbo engine is better
Yes and yes.
My 981 Cayman S has a remapped ecu and achieves 364hp, 420Nm, 0-100km/h 3.89sec... I don't require anything more from a sports car. I laugh during and after every drive!
What an incredible review! Subbed!
My wife owns a Porsche Boxster that I drive every now and then and I hate to admit, it handles much better than my F80 M3..in my opinion the 781 cayman s is the best value for money..power, handling, performance value and looks , you cannot get much better...
That 718 looks good
This review aged well.
My new Cayman GTS sounds different but
I absolutely have no problem with the crackle and pop of this new flat four! Love it.
Serge Beaulieu I cant stand the crackle and pop. So artificial I cancelled my purchase of a 718 GTS. Just terrible.
This evil laugh...your car makes you look like a villain too! Super cool.
You always give the best review videos. Keep it up!!! From your loyal fan.
This is basically my dream Porche.
A Dream what’s a Porche? Also, are you really that passionate about it, or do you just like to say the word dream frequently?
Sterling Roberts his name is A Dream
That moment you realize one of your favorite car reviewers owns the same car as you 🎉 🍻
Great review of a car I’m really interested in. The only thing that puzzles me is why on earth you’d have a front plate by choice, moreover have the parking sensor sound off every time you start her up because of said plate - that would drive me nuts.
Well earned reward! Great car!
Have great respect for your reviewing skills, its not easy to do, I reviewed the 718 Cayman last week and agree with most of what you say, I wish I could get 40k views in 2 days !!
hey roger bailey nice channel man
cool
Bantom The hey thanks
Roger, you and redline are always reviews i watch
Eric Ocasio thats great to hear !
thank you that was the first review I actually got to hear the engine compared to my 987, it really reminds me of my old Honda from the 90's with intake/exhaust.
You spend nearly 100 grand and still no leather? lol.
Let's be fair now, there is some leather.
so bloody fast - best handling sport car under 100k for sure.
Breaking out the t-shirt! You know it's an important video.
It really just need one drive and you get hooked! And they offer really good leasing options :)
Great choice in sports cars. I had a new corvette was fun to drive but cheaply made. In the first 4 years I was constantly having things fixed on it. Wasn’t so bad during warranty but got expensive quick when warranty expired. Never get one again.
Paul Stan corvette is the mid life crisis car
@JullFiend, and this isn't? Fuck out of here. Let people get what they want.
TheHvk defenetily not. Corvette is for the white man that wants to fit in. Porsche is classy.
Pretty surprising that you had problems with a corvette... not much to go wrong
what kind of crack are you on?
This is such a thorough review I love it thank you
The 718 GTS is the most EXCELLENT Porsche ever made as pure streetcar. Better than my ex 1985 911, my ex 964 Carrera 2, and my ex 987.1CS. Way better in everyway possible including the humble sound. Fools them everytime.
This car is so beautiful 😍😍
Good for you getting your dream car, I’m sure you worked very hard for it, I do prefer the sound of the flat 6 myself, but that 4 definitely sounds better than a Subaru. I saw your review of the 2014 Fiesta ST and went out and bought one, it has 68,000+ miles on it and it’s still running strong, I’m on my 4th set of tires already that’s how much I love it, it puts the biggest smile on my face when I hit the Sport Mode button. Keep up the awesome reviews, your the best one out there. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼
Audi let's you use both heated and ventilated seats at the same time too. Just a little FYI.
I have the exact same car in Carrara White Metallic (my 4th Cayman - had a 987, a 987.2, and a 981 previously). Your review is spot-on and exactly how I would have reviewed it.
Great review, answered all the great questions
