    This is pretty good to understand the overall clinical behaviour of our tendon. The challenge is to get the proper PT regimen... Medical insurance do not easily refer to see a PT professional...This makes us dependent on what the internet finds suggest. Sort of trial an error self-therapy.

      That is exactly what I have noticed. I started to have pain in my both wrists over a year ago. It was during Covid that I could not go to doctor personally and had to explain everything over the phone that is why I didn’t take it serious and it got worse. Then 6 months ago I started to have sharp burning pain in my elbow. I had an appointment 2 weeks ago with the specialist she didn’t suggest much. The only thing she did was to prescribe me some pain meds which is temporarily. I myself choose to go to an acupuncture therapist. For my condition he suggested at least 6 sessions of acupuncture, 2 sessions of 30mins per week. 2 days ago I went for my first session. I had the worst pain the following night but surprisingly the pain level was cut in half all day today. From this experience I accept everything this therapist is saying.

    If a tendon "acts like a spring" and is used during high speed eccentric loads, then how come we don't train them "as a spring?" Why do we use slow eccentrics versus rapid ballistic stabilizing forces? For example, the achilles tendon is under load during jumping rope, and thus should we train it to handle isometric static ballistic loads rather than using slow eccentric calf heal drops?

    Really helpful thanks. I've had tendon pain in I think the iliopsoas for a few years, slowly getting better. It was the delay in pain following provoking activity that has been the biggest frustration. For me, it seems to take about 36-48hrs after an activity for my tendon to 'talk to me' so to speak, and it's really helpful to have affirmed from the video about there being a delay. I didn't sense the (two) physios I have seen to be familiar with that! Or at least that's what came across. I will digest more of what is shared in the video, and really reassuring that we can buld the healthy tissue despite there being tissue that may not actually recover.

    Hi.Got a question possibly related to tendon pain. I think i might have damaged some of mine forearm muscle's tendons,specificly when doing wrist curl excersise. Before i tryed to do static single wrist curl max possible weight.Have to say ,i did it in wrong postition probably. Basicly,half of my forearm (side closer to elbow) or less is resting on my inner tigh and rest of the arm is just hanging in air, parallel position to ground. So i tryed ,tryed,tryed,tryed my max weight attempt and finnaly did for a half a second,barely after quite few try's. Well next day when i tryed to do some 70% weight of my possible max,tryed just to pick it up,while my wrist holds static and after i pickup the weight from ground,felt something is wrong and couldn't do even a single rep of 70%,but when i released the weight suddenly some sharp pulsating pain went from half of my forearm down to wrist,one/couple times. Like a pulsating wave. So later tryed with 50% of weight and aswell same stuff. After releasing the weight sharp pain goes through somewhat same places. Then decreased to some 20-25% my max weight and suddenly there is no pain of any sort. I can go proper full max and beyond max sets,without any bad pain. It only happens near bigger load,when i feel. Ohh and there don't seem to be any swelling on forearm or anything else bad.Have to say at beginning for first couple days or 3 i could feel pain when i pressed around those areas with fingers but now one week later the pain don't seem to be there when press with fingers on those areas atleast in that level of hardness when i pushed to feel it. .So what i wanted to find out,does that sound like a tendon injury or something else,if could give some insight to it? I've been trying to find out as much as can and seems like this stuff if i am right can take up even to half a year to heal? And over this week period,it seem's like it get's better ,just slowly.Still 2 days ago tryed to do around thoat 50% weight just to test if can lift and was pretty much the same,maybe felt little bit less of pain after release but it all depended of how many reps and for how long did it. Ohh and yeah for comparison tryed to test pain are when did 50% max weight for single rep,2 reps,and 3 reps. As each rep increased,it felt like pain increases in distance what it travels from half of forearm till wrist. At the 1 rep,pain went from half forearm till half of half distance till wrist but at 3 reps the pain went almost all the way down to wrist from half of forearm. And all the pain is in the side of arm where brachioradialis is located at,just overall in that side of hand not specificly in brachioradialis.

    I might have a tendinitis in my left elbow and a little one in my right elbow, the symptoms i studied match mine and its really blocking me from gaining strenght on benchpress.
    it mostly hurts (just like a 2 mby 3 on 0/10 scale) and like cracks while im doing overhead tricep exercises.
    ive been dealing with this for the last 2-3 months i think and didnt pay any attention to it since it would go away for a week or two sometimes, but now for some reason it worsened to a point i cant do much tricep exercises with heavy load because it swells just a little and i feel a lot of tension in that area.
    i have no problem bench pressing, dumbell pressing and doing some "pump" exercises but it really bothers me since i dont want it to get worse but also dont want to loose gains/build asymetries since i can work out all the other parts of my body.

      I'm fully recovered now. The tendon did shrink and I think it's the same size as the tendon on my other foot or it might be slightly thicker. It's hard to tell. It took me about 8 months to fully recover when I started actually focusing on recovery and rehabilitation. In January I started to do light squats starting with only 50 pounds and adding 10 pounds every few workouts. In march I was able to start running again starting with 100 meters for a few sets and was running a little bit longer every few workouts. During this time there was still a lot of weakness and discomfort in my ankle but I was able to do more and more over time and the weakness and discomfort eventually went away in around August and now it's just as good as the other ankle. I feel like it was important to tell this story because I felt like my tendon would never heal and there's too many people telling stories about their tendinopathy like it never heals and people telling us that the tendon will be permanently weakened. That's not true. The tendon can heal 100%.

Last year I had injured/aggrevated my tricep tendon towards the bottom above the elbow from golf and lifting and as I said I'm prone to issues there because I have nerve damage from a motocross crash and don't have full power of all the tricep muscles. However, what I can say is that originally I was trying to stretch out those muscles which was seeming to make it worse. I ended up just taking it easy on it and then trying to build a bit more muscle in the areas around it without reinsuring it. For now it's tamed but I can still feel it get aggravated at times. I'll just have to continue to keep an eye on it and if it keeps reoccurring I will consider this surgery again. I actually have bigger fish to fry right now as I have a torn meniscus and PCL from a mountain bike crash so I have to have surgery on that sometime soon. My body takes a beating as you can see :).

      @jonduke4748 3 роки тому +8

      YES ABSOLUTELY... Start with light mostly eccentric work and get heavier over time. Also in addition perform daily 10 minute sessions with very little weight just to flood the area with blood. Try not to aggravate the tendon and keep making steady-slow progress over several months. Take like 10-15 grams of type 2 collagen and a moderate dosage of vitamin C 30 minutes to an hour before you perform the work, this combination has a fairly substantial impact on the rate of protein/collagen synthesis in the tendon after the work but it's important to take it before doing the work and not just whenever because tendons have very poor blood flow and don't repair/regenerate very much at all without stimulus, this is why tendon issues can last for years. You may never recover fully if you have larger tears in the fine structure of the tendon and much scar tissue, but you can certainly see significant improvement over just a few months to a year. Trust me, I've recovered from tendinopathy in my knee which was a nuisance for over a year and a half. I also used this methodology to cure the nasty tendonitis in both of my wrists caused by working out too hard.

    • @jonduke4748
      @jonduke4748 3 роки тому +5

      @UnknownIsometrics are good for temporarily relieving pain... but don't work very well at all for rehab, I read a study which showed that at least for patellar tendonitis the good tendon tissue would tighten up during isometrics to take the majority of the load and that unless the isometric was held for a long duration, like over a minute and a half, they helped the damage tissue very little. Then there's the fact that the quad tendon is going to be sharing a bit less of the load in any traditional bend leg movement compared to the patella tendon, simply because of where it is (above your knee is structurally stronger, quad tendon stretches less). *Here is what I would do if I was you*. Sounds like you really need to ease into this... First, I would get a foam roller and use that on my quads every other day and then also do some regular light stretching every day. These will not improve the tendon, but they will lengthen the quads and promote blood flow which will be very helpful in reducing pain and the chances of hurting you tendon anymore doing normal things. Next thing to do is for two weeks take it very easy on your leg generally. Every day after your rolling and or stretching You'll want to get a board or something and use that to elevate your heels for bodyweight squats, this helps transfer force towards the knees. Then perform shallow bodyweight squats, lowering over 3 seconds and a brief pause at the bottom. You can lean to your good leg to bring you up to take stress off the bad leg. Start easy with like 4 sets of 10 with a minute break, bring it up daily until you're at 4 sets of 25, then work on increasing your depth until you are squatting just below parallel. At some point you wont need to lean to you good leg when you go up anymore. You can progress further by putting on a pack with weights or adding weight slowly in any manner you choose. The point is to keep on slowly progressing. Keep this up for 3 to 6 months and I bet you will notice significant improvement! If you have access to a gym, leg extensions are phenomenal and the same idea applies, slow eccentric tempo, start really easy and continually progress over a number of months. If you are not consistent you will not progress. Also, after month or two, slowly phase in jogging. Remember to take it easy at first. Jogging is good at dynamically loading the tendon and promoting blood flow, but you don't want to apply much stress to the tendon, you want to slowly bring the stress up same as with the rehab exercises. In my previous post I mention the vitamin C and collagen cocktail, this will be helpful for any tendon issue including yours. You can buy cheap chicken collagen from bulk supplements. OH and when you're up to it, you can bring in reverse nordic curls, those would REALLY help a TUN once you get going on them.

    Question if I may..
    I have had tendonosis in my left elbow for roughly 2 years now, (surprised me as I'm right handed) I had the cortisone injection & my gosh.... the tendon in the elbow is that bad now that I always wake with with a completely straight locked arm & screaming in pain as it is now shooting pain to my wrist to my shoulder.. And I've now just literally this morning! Woken up & my right elbow was straight locked also from the elbow... I'm on Targin for chronic pain from fibromyalgia & mainy spine arthritis already & I had to call out to my partner to literally come & put the tablet in my mouth as I could not bend my arms at all..😟 I also have tendonosis on the outer left leg but that hasn't given me as much grief yet, just my tendon is a massive lump slowly spreading down to my heel.
    With my arm/tendonosis issue, do you think my tendonosis is getting worse? What can be done about it? Thanking you kindly ❤
