Starlink prices just went back up as of yesterday from the ksh 29,999 offer to ksh 45,500 . I was lucky to have gotten my kit during the offer period, the download speeds are satisfactory at about 150mbps andthe upload speeds vary but getting an average of 15mbps. So far so good with the content, keep up the good work
Definitely. Working on a video where I am recording the speeds and other properties in different weather conditions. I am currently collecting data to make the video comprehensive.
Location too. Here at Buruburu Faiba past midnight I get about 5-9 MBps. Highest I got was at Bamburi (coast) with 110Mbps (roughly 13MBps), midday-ish. Probably was near a tower and less traffic there or sth. These are the speeds reported by my device's connection speed indicator. edit: daytime Faiba is sorta garbage. Averaging 1.5MBps with max speeds of 3-ish. Not the best time to get that Fisi Hr package.
Sorry but this is not a true test. Starlink should be compared to home or business based internet services such as FAIBA or Safaricom fiber services. You should not be comparing this to mobile services, because Starlink is not mobile
@omarutariq9501 Why? First of all, they are both mobile. You can walk with your starlink (as long as you can power it on), the same way you walk with your phone. Secondly, those options you've shared are not available in the village. He is just doing a test on Internet options available in the village: Starlink, airtel, and safaricom sim cards. Whichever wins in terms of speed and costs is the better option.
Just a heads up; Good video but this is a very layman way to test and compare internet connections. There are technical nuances in your results that you also seem not to understand. For instance; The unloaded latency as you have used it is not a good measure of latency as it is a subjective measurement based on an "ideal" scenario which is never the case. The loaded latency is a better measure in this case as it replicates a real life scenario. Technically speaking, based on your tests; Airtel has the best loaded latency at 126ms, then Starlink 143ms, Safaricom 431ms, Faiba 1100ms. This essentially means the latency arguement doesnt hold in your conclusion. It is also not clear what the test server is in these test cases. It would be best to perform speed comparison tests with the same server such as provided by OoKla. For this comparison to be complete you'd need to add tests for jitter and packet loss as well which can actually be used to show the difference between these services.
I think when your comparing Dafaricom against starlink or another provider, you need to compare against the home faiber connections and not mobile internet
The duration a 50GB internet bundle will last at a speed of 200Mbps (Megabits per second) depends on how you use the internet. Here are a few examples to give you an idea of how quickly data might be consumed: ### **1. General Browsing and Emails** - **Usage:** Typically light, with web pages, emails, and basic browsing consuming about 1-5MB per page. - **Estimate:** 50GB could last you a long time-potentially weeks or even months-depending on how frequently you browse. ### **2. Streaming Video** - **UA-cam or Netflix (Standard Definition):** - **Data Usage:** ~1GB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB would last for about 50 hours of streaming. - **UA-cam or Netflix (High Definition):** - **Data Usage:** ~3GB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB would last for about 16-17 hours of streaming. - **UA-cam or Netflix (4K Ultra HD):** - **Data Usage:** ~7-10GB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB would last for about 5-7 hours of streaming. ### **3. Online Gaming** - **Data Usage:** Depending on the game, it typically uses between 40MB and 300MB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB could provide approximately 166-1250 hours of online gaming. ### **4. Video Calls** - **Standard Definition (SD):** - **Data Usage:** ~0.7GB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB would last for about 70 hours of video calls. - **High Definition (HD):** - **Data Usage:** ~1.5GB per hour. - **Estimate:** 50GB would last for about 33 hours of HD video calls. ### **5. Downloading Large Files** - **Movies, Software, etc.:** - **Example:** A 2-hour HD movie is around 3-4GB. - **Estimate:** Downloading 12-16 HD movies could consume the entire 50GB. ### **Calculating Time at Full Speed:** - **200Mbps:** - 200Mbps = 25MB/s (Megabytes per second). - **In theory:** If you were downloading at 200Mbps non-stop, 50GB would be consumed in about 33 minutes (50,000MB / 25MB/s). However, in practical terms, your internet usage will vary greatly depending on what activities you're doing online. If you're primarily using the internet for light browsing and emails, your 50GB could last a long time. However, if you stream a lot of HD or 4K content or download large files, it could be consumed much more quickly.
Sorry but your test is very flawed. Starlink is not a mobile service. Starlink is a satellite based home or business service, you should compare Starlink to Fiaba or Safaricom fiber services. Stop fooling the people.

I believe the speed would vary for most of these if recorded within time intervals

I’ll guess the average within a day or time period would be a great next test
Very nice video. Are you in the rurals? Airtel doesn't perform very well in my village. But I will be ordering Starlink soon.
I am deep in the rurals. Check the other video I did on Starlink.
Please buy it. I believe it is now cheap.
