@@dontcryboutit if your reason is gas milage, you're braindead because the rx7 gets the same or worse milage. You're probably braindead either way though

@0:23 yeah, sadly the 1/4 mile wasn't over as i was about 140km/h so i had to switch into 4th gear right before the end like you did. and you can see what happens if you do, it takes alot of time and there is like no power... still awesome expirience with that car :D
+Edistone if she's anything like my mom it's long gone, like my mom used to have a T top firebird before i was born, she traded it in for a minivan when she got pregnant with me, reason being, scared i'd fly out the T top
All you need to do is pay attention to a couple of things. Plugs and coils cause even when you have a blown one the car will go and you may even not be aware of, and alway, always change oils with recommended mazda ones as soon as you hit the milage when you are supposed to change them or even 500 miles before. Then redline it at least once a week as per the user's manual and it can go for quite some time. Mine has 202k km on original engine and compression is still 7.4 on the front, 7.3 on the rear rotor
@@jimkrom damn sounds really unbelievable, mazda RX-8s in our country usually runs under 100.000 km before arriving to diagnostic, rebuild & repiar of engine. Usually apexes goes down or even breaks inside the cylinder making big scratches in rare cases whole block part needs to be replaced for a new one also it takes a lot of time and money. But I believe the owners didn't cared enough well of that unusual engine, and ofc the fuel quality is a killing factor, unsuccessful refuelings with bad fuel quality kills it

@@berkanador wrong the stock limiter is a hard fuel cut off set at 9500, any RPM over that is just carried over momentum from the rotors before they slow down due to lack of fuel
@@berkanador as previously said its just the momentum of the engine being carried over after the fuel has been cut off, in fact lots of high boost turbo cars for example have rev limiters set at 7000RPM but they can bounce as high as 7500RPM when not under load because of this carried momentum. My old JDM Type S RX8 had a custom limiter set at 10,000RPM but it could rev as high as 10,300RPM when not under load. That said anything above 8800 RPM in a 13B REN can cause extreme engine wear as thats the point at which the eccentric shaft starts to warp and begins to press the rotors and their apex seals onto the rotor housing wearing them out quicker. While a redline a day keeps the carbon away you have to be wary of this fact of simple physics. lots of people who have rx8s and have engine failures despite servicing them religiously suffer these failures due to bouncing of the limiter too often causing damage to the side seals, apex seals and the chrome lining of the rotor housings.
