    I have sockets that are made when my stump is at the smallest (shrinked) like late in the evening, and one socket made in early in the morning when the stump is at the biggest. My stump is pretty stable in size during this two moments during a day and I use them along with a smallest ajust with PLY stump socket.

    Thanks for the info, i have a below the knee amputation. This just happened last February and I’m still trying to find the right fit. It feels like my stump bottoms out in the bottom of my prosthetic and i get a lot of pain when i put weight on it. To alleviate the pain i cut my old tube socks and pull them up over the bottom part of my knee so i can kind of wedge my leg in there without bottoming out. It feels a lot better but then I get pain on my knee. Go figure. Thanks again for the info

      We're glad it was helpful! Prosthetic fitting is a really difficult journey. It takes a lot of input from your prosthetist, a lot of trial and error, and time. If you are still having trouble I would certainly recommend reaching out to your prosthetist to help. It could be as simple as a sock adjustment to as much as needing a new socket. They can help determine what you need.

    Carbohydrate intake causes swelling. To heel height. I have had the heel rises taken out of my foot. Like being barefoot. When sitting my leg is extended - knee is
    to floor. Roll over is easier. My gate is much better - my hips are happier. We are all different.

    Questions...
    I hate wearing sneakers...I prefer boots. I wear zipper side low heel boots...but..I'm afraid they may be causing issues with balance and no shock absorbers like rubber bottom sneakers.
    I have a dilemma here...I can't self adjust..need to go to leg guy for this..what about alignment??
    How often do I need to align my prosthetic?
    I'm new to this amp thing..3 yrs..and the last year has been hell..2 pressure sores..and my stump shrunk greatly.
    So now...my new leg is ready and my new foot..bionic..with ankle movement..yeah
    What's your opinion on these and my above questions...help!!!

      Sounds like it will be a great setup. Your prosthetist should be your guide here. A few things though, anytime you change your shoes, you will likely need an adjustment. There are options available where you can adjust the ankle position based on different shoes, but you want to be extremely confident with your prostheses before attempting that. This should also be done with the assist of a prosthetist. If you were fit with a sneaker on your prosthesis and then switched to boots, this will probably be impacting your balance due to the likely change in heel height. New ankle technology has really come a long way, so it should be helpful.

      I'm with you, I hate sneakers, can't wear them comfortably, too hot for me. I've found shoes, not just boots, with a back zipper that are really easy to put on, even on the fake foot. I've got several pair of low boots for winter and I love them. I also wear flats, sandals that lace up and have no problem.

    Can I wear prosthetic legg while setting ideal at home or to wear at the time of walking only

    • @Oneleggedninja
      @Oneleggedninja Рік тому

      Ideally you can wear it all day, every day depending on how stable your limb is. If you notice redness or sores stop wearing it for a few days until they heal.

      Sorry for that. We prefer shoes that are flat because they rarely result in alignment problems. Prosthetic components are generally designed for a flat shoe.
