In the disorientation of being in a new country and culture, Gomotsegang begins to experience panic attacks. After discussing her struggles with a fellow exchange student, Gomotsegang finds comfort in helping animals and a renewed perspective for the future.

Gomotsegang Gaapare’s story is part of the Community College Initiative (CCI) Program's 2019-20 digital storytelling project-an opportunity for CCI participants to share personal stories about the challenges, adventures, and accomplishments they have faced during their exchange year. The participants created their stories in a workshop facilitated by Kara Newhouse.
