These are bunch of files with every dialogue line - conversations, romance dialogues, ambient dialogues, everything. A lot of lines have special 'devnotes', which are implying what the writers exactly had in mind while writing the dialogue for characters.

I'm fully convinced that at first Astarion only seduced Tav for tactical alliance, but when Gale arrived, it became a battle of life and death. It's like by that point if Gale managed to romance Tav, Astarion's pride and honour would be ruined.

He knows Gale is intelligent, kind, caring and compassionate, he has a magical tower/house and a lot of money in Waterdeep, has a well connected magical family, is a powerful wizard who could protect you, and also that he bedded a literal goddess (so even the one thing that Astarion “knows he is good at” is something he is questioning how he would compare). Astarion gets genuinely surprised when you choose him over whoever else you are romancing, asking you why you would chose him over the other person, because he truly doesn’t think he deserves happiness or others caring about him. His shock when you hug him or “share your mind” with him is another example of that (him not understanding why you are being kind/understanding). And though he starts off disapproving of most “good choices” in act 1, by act 2 he starts to approve of more of them, and by act 3 he was often agreeing with the same things Gale/Karlach did. He grows to appreciate when you are kind to others (especially kids and animals), and also that it’s a good thing to help/save others (especially those in slave type situations).
