    From 6 October 2019, all medical practitioners have been added to the Shortage Occupation List in the UK. This means that all medical practitioners are exempt from the Resident Labour Market Test (RLMT) and can apply for any specialty in any recruitment round, subject to eligibility.
    All medical practitioners are now on the Shortage Occupation List and are therefore exempt from the RLMT….Applicants exempt from the RLMT will be considered for posts alongside UK/EU/EEA nationals and other settled workers.

    i cant believe how different the training is in the UK compared to north america! here, it is unheard of for someone to withdraw their application to a postgrad training program once they've been offered a position. such good insight into how training for medicine varies around the world.

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  5 років тому +2

      I know right. It’s different all over the world. Most people choose GP as a back up and when they get their first choice e.g. surgery - they withdraw their GP application

  • @zed3063

    Back when specialty applications made sense. Now it’s a free for all, IMGs are applying from all over the world with zero NHS experience and we have no priority over them as UK grads.

    So after graduating as a doctor from Europe you come to England and sit a gmc exam pleb then after that you apply for fy1 and fy2 right ? And I’m slightly confused is the Mrsa exam needed for when applying for fy1 or is it when after completing those two foundation years and applying for specialisation in being a gp which is three years so bsc a exam for before your specialisation

    Hi I have always wanted to go down this route into becoming GP I’m just wondering as I’m going to college what I should do as in what courses in college shall I do A level science subjects or btec and can I still become a gp even if my GCSE’s aren’t level A’s or if I don’t do too well and I’m just wondering as someone who’s ambition is to do this from an early stage what I should do to get where you are and also one more question sorry once you finish medical school as you have to do more courses to become a gp which could take more years as a junior doctor can you get a job while doing your courses? As a doctor or part time or anything to earn more money while doing the extra year courses to become a qualified GP?

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  4 роки тому

      Your GCSE and a level marks do not having a baring on you becoming a GP. You need the grades to get into medical school to qualify as a doctor. Once you’ve completed medical school you will do 2 years of foundation training before entering GP training.
      The GP training programme is where you work as a doctor and learning on the job. Therefore there is no specific course you attend.

    • @halalbros172
      @halalbros172 4 роки тому

      The Junior Doctor hi sorry to bother you again so are you saying it is possible to become a GP even though if my gcse grades aren’t that good? • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  4 роки тому

      What I’m saying is that becoming a doctor is still possible. Being a GP is something you need to think of once you’ve completed medical school.

      MCQs on passmedicine are slightly ‘harder’ than MCQ bank so if day complexity wise the MCQ bank is a better representation but doing passmedicine gave me a wider knowledge base.

    Great video ! I have a question , do you not get to choose your sessions when your a specialist or only when you are a GP ? 🤗

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  5 років тому

      We call the appointment times for patients “sessions” which is specific for GPs. Other Specialities e.g. hospital based medicine will have “outpatient clinics” which are similar to seeing patients in GP but based in a hospital- although you get to have an input about how many clinic sessions you can do in a week, it may not always be the case
      I feel like I’ve confused things a bit further 😂 does that make sense?

    • @nas_775
      @nas_775 5 років тому

      The Junior Doctor no thanks 😂 I understand , I’m still in college so I m not familiar with all the terminology yet but thanks that makes sense 🤗

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  5 років тому +2

      I’m not entirely 100 % myself - but you can own a practice and work for the NHS and see NHS patients. So the NHS has a contract with you. There are also some practices that are entirely private

    To get into training... What does it matters... Does mbbs marks matters for imgs?? ...or its just about the recruitment exams???

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  4 роки тому

      As far as I’m aware - your exam results during MBBS is not taken into account. As medical schools are pass/fail. As long as you have graduated from medical school that is all that matters. The recruitment exams are also pass/fail
