I give this TWO thumbs up! Always wholesome content - professional, informative, educational, humorous - top notch 😊
Love watching your videos! Very educational and informative. Keep up the good work guys!
On new construction we nail the step flashing on the wall . That way when your re roofing in the future the step flashings are not all sliding down. So hard to get them back in place after.
Your guys should cut the shingles 1/4” away from the step flashing for water drainage. In your video the shingles looked pretty tight .
Perfect timing. Dealing with the same exact situation as I write this. Thanks
Hats off to you, Brian!! 👊 always on point! Gotta grab my popcorn for the next video!! Wait, i got work i have to do, catch you later on the next one! Lol 👍
Looks good
Nice work! Roof will last forever or at least until the next hail storm.
That away Brady! Go Irish!!!
Work with what ya got…well done
Thing is if u pressure bend it yes it should stay down without a nail butt metal expands so it could pop up then the tar drys then it stays up I've seen it so many times 😜
Can you show a pic after you installed the counter flashing over the step flashing?
Great video! Are you going to install a kick out flashing?
Sorry just a homeowner wanting his house to look nice. I'd be curious to see what that trimmed wood siding looks like after the job is completed.
Brady searching for spiders! ❤❤❤❤
Step flashing is always better.
There’s usually a code for gap needed from the roofing to the siding.
What did they do years ago? I see old homes with dormers with no flashing. How do they do that?
Hog valley do you put sheet metal
Will you go back to trim back belly band and install kick out flashing
Q. What is the benefit of running the ice and water up the wall?
It seems like that is doing the same job as the cheap, one-piece wall flashing, which you tore out.
There should always be KICKOUT FLASHING at the bottom edge of the roof where it butts against the siding to divert water away from the siding and into the gutter! Its pretty much code now!
Hi! I have what you are talking about but water is still staying along the house and draining down the house and into my home instead of being diverted to the gutter. Do you think silicone would help?
What did you use to cut the wood? Cordless circular saw? Could it fit? Anyway you could do some vids with flashing in different scenarios with this wood paneling? As a project manager, I see this stuff all the time, and its always a pain to deal with. Love your vids bud. I've learned a ton from you. Thanks --- Also would like to see what you do with vinyl siding too. Do ya'll reuse step ever? Do ya'll pop vinyl siding off? Would love to hear what your thoughts are. Thanks again.
Yes a cordless circular saw cut most of it. Up in the tight areas, we used a combination of a toe kick saw or a Sawzall.
Does the entire roof for a flat roof pitch have to be 2/12 for shingle install? The bottom portion of my roof on the low pitch roof is less than 2/12 but the top is over 2/12.
So who made the cuts??? We all know a typical roof crew has no ability to cut a straight line. Did you do it yourself or bring a siding guy in?
I came here to see the installation of the counter-flashing along the roof-to-wall interface. I couldn't find it in this video :^( Otherwise, excellent video.
O.c baby
Metal roofing metal roofing all the way hopefully Stick to the pan so u don't slide off!
Where's that kick out flashing?
Is flashing 4 x 4 x 8 ?
Yr ive and water should come up on the wall at least 6 inches. Yr step flashing ontop of that
Hey brother. Do you charge for flashing the walls that way??
No, we do not charge for flashing. This one, however, needed some cedar trim. Yes, there was a charge for that stuff.
I'm really mad that everyone shows slanted flashing. Show me flashing on a flat wall. I can easily figure out slanted flashing, the water drains down. Show me flashing on a roof that meets a wall and goes across flat side to side.
Never ever nail the step flashing at the bottom. If you have a peace that wants to stick up, puts it down and slap a nail in the side wall.
Wrong. 45yrs doing roofing. Always chance to pop up
Not a fan of it cause thats not how its done
Nice work it will look way better. But I wanna see that ice and water higher then your step flashing
And keep the nail from underneath the step. It will rust the nail out
