This video is really awesome because from that high spot you can see the shadow around the landscape running towards you. Must have been an out of this world experience in person.
Official Guitar The path of totality is going to cross over pacific ocean, Chile and Argentina in July 2019. There will be another total eclipse just 17 months after the solar eclipse of 2019 which will also be visible from chile and Argentina.
Official Guitar also if people can get make it to the path of totality in the pacific ocean (2019) they will get a chance to see the totality for more than 4 mins.
WOW!!! Thanks for sharing this! I didn't think this was even possible...to climb to the top and watch the eclipse. We were just below at Gros Ventre road. And, I might not have believed your video if it wasn't for the airplane contrail curving after the eclipse because I captured that on my video!!!
I was in Gros Ventre campground until a couple of days before the eclipse. We had volunteered in Eastern Wyoming with the State Park at Glendo and I hated to leave but we had promised. We helped staff for several days before the eclipse and the morning of the eclipse about 5 am I had a staff member tell me to get down to parking, THOUSANDS of cars arrived before the gate was staffed. We parked what seemed like countless cars until they released us at 10 am (total was at 11:45). I put my camera on a distant ridge on the tripod to get the shadow approaching but it WAS FAST! Next time I will be on the highest point I can find to see the shadow approach. I was thinking if I had stayed in Gros Ventre I wanted to video the Teton Mountains as the shadow approached. But this video got it! Fantastic! I had seen one about 98% before but 100% is so much different. On to 2024. We also saw aircraft immediately after the total.
My three kids and I did the same thing in Oregon. We found a remote ridge at 5000 ft and camped there for two nights. We took in the eclipse all by ourselves. You're right, video does not do it justice. If you're interested in seeing the video shoot me a pm. Awesome trip y'all! Bryan from Vancouver
KrizAkoni hey, fellow Tennessean! I got to see the eclipse from the top of Foothills Parkway, just outside the Smokeys...my favorite part from that perspective was the "360 degree sunset"...unfortunately, there were too many trees to see the moon's shadow racung across the mountains
Im amazed and very disappointed at the bad comments of your trek......which I thought was awesome. I wish I could have had that experience with my Dad...and it pleases me no end that you and your Dad got to experience this. Those who found it necessary to make negative comments dont appreciate the gifts that we are designed to create, and instead focus on the diminished capacity of their self imposed limitations. Thank you for sharing your video. SOme of us will never have the opportunity to achieve what you did, but now we can say we experienced it...thanks to your video. Much Appreciated. God Bless
We were just a couple miles away to the west, within view of Grand Teton and were thinking of all the rockstars that were watching the eclipse from the summit. Mad props for making it. Thanks for sharing the video!!!
Totally awesome video, me and my wife and 6 year old son were camping in lizard creek and we watched the eclipse from the totality zone next to Jackson Hole with the ski slopes in perfect view in front of the Grand Teton entrance! What an amazing experience!!!
One Bad Idea I agree. We saw totality NE Ga. and have been saying same thing, pictures do not do it justice, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot!! Must have been even more incredible from up there..Love your video, great job. I feel so lazy after watching you guys. We just saw from a lake, fifty feet from the car. You all are awesome!!
The most awesome part was being able to see the shadow on the Earth surface and the fact that you were up there with your dad. Wow my dad and I did hiking up until very recently and I didn't truly appreciate it until he got sick and could no longer climb a mountain. Cherish the moments. That was actually the most incredible experience and worth a mention. You guys definitely went all out for this capture of the eclipse. Congratulations and thank you for sharing that with us
I was one of the climbers who was on the summit with you. I was right next to you in the red puffy and orange CAMP helmet. I have to agree, it was one of the most amazing things I've experienced.
During the nearly total phase, from leaves overhead, fractal light patterns shone brilliantly on the ground. This is a stunning record of the sport, at its best. Thank you.
Wow. You could see the shadow of the moon approaching. Fantastic! Glad you guys had a blast. I saw the eclipse on the totality line in Oregon and it was just awesome. No real words to describe it. Great experience. Seeing it from the top here is incredibly cool. Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers!
I was thinking of all the lucky souls who were up there for this once in a lifetime event on the Grand. So thankful you made it and shot this video. Absolutely stunning. Thank you!!!!
You guys CRUSHED this... Way to go!!! Sumitting the GRAND in a day is no easy feat PLUS you spent time shooting video to record the whole ascent. AND made it to the top with an hour to spare. I admire you for that accomplishment! It's cool to see the jet streaking by in time-lapse at 5:40 too.
Loved watching from the Tetons. One of my favorite places, been there, so beautiful, peaceful ! I know it was a joy to witness the total eclipse. Glad you made it up there to view it. Loved seeing your video! Great job!
got to the saddleone day and had my climbing buddy get soaked by an unexpected rain. backtracked had a new forecast so...up at about 2 a.m. then soloed back to the col, met a German who had never climbed before, taught him the basics, made the summit and back and back down and to the airport in time for my flight at 3 just as the gate closed behind me! The Grand wish I could have been there. Awesome to see the shadow of the event! Thank you thank you!
Awesome video! You even captured the bright star "Regulus", shining about a degree to the lower left of the sun Must have been one heck of an adventure!!!!!
One of the purist photo shows ever! Many years ago--many-- we stayed in Jackson Hole, can't remember the motel's name. We climbed the Grand Teton (before there were civilized trails). How incredible the 21st must have been for those lucky people!
Highlands North Carolina. in a rain forest the eclipse was blocked by clouds, until the moon moved half past sun. we promptly threw our glasses onto our face. camping on an overgrown out of use logging road, we fought not with traffic. we slept in tents, we viewed the sky from the forest in a clearing. near a mountain paved road. three cars drove up, and left the lights on. "turn the lights off!!!!" i screamed. they did. when the light returned from behind the moon, they quickly drove off. while they, in traffic for eight to ten hours. we walked and talked in the forest, explored abandoned hoard houses, trapped in time swallowed by the mountain.
Awesome! I was at 11,400 feet on Union peak just to the East. I caught the shadow covering the Tetons a minute before going over us. Was cool watching the lights come on.
We were down on Colter Bay. Thanks for posting. IT was spectacular and only our eyes can fully capture its magnificence. Thanks for trying to capture a piece of the beauty.
While you were watching from the top of the Mountains I was watching below on Elk Flats with the mountains in the background. It's amazing to watch this while thinking "At the time he reached the summit we were watching bison go by us. We could practically see each other". A day after the eclipse I actually met someone on that plane we both saw. They could not land during the eclipse, and the passengers watched the eclipse from the windows as the plane circled. So many stories on a perfect day.
This is without a doubt beyond a once-in-a-lifetime moment. What was really interesting was watching the darkness overtaking the area so quickly. From your altitude only aircraft were afforded such a view. Great work and thanks for sharing this wonderful celestial event.
Nice. I saw it too but from near the top above Teton village. I went by myself and lost my way up the mountain and by the time of the eclipse I saw I wasn't gonna make it to the top so I saw it from the top of the mountain range, but not a summit.
I saw the 1978 eclipse from a light plane. My dad was worried that the weather at Walla Walla Washington would be bad so he made it a point to be in the air. Your experience on the mountain is similar but even more awesome! Thanks for sharing it!
Incredible. What an adventure. Thanks for for sharing and inspiring. I live in totality path for 4/8/2024. No cliffs around here to climb. Not that I could.
Very impressive feat! I'm especially impressed by your dad making that ascent as well. That had to be a wonderful bonding event for the two of you. I'm looking forward to the 2024 eclipse now. Cool video!
This is awesome! I was actually on Table mountain just behind the grand Teton to see the eclipse. It was spectacular! Though the view from the top of the Grand you could really see that shadow coming! That was cool!
Very cool! We saw it cover you about 30 seconds or so before it hit us at the Moran junction. So cool to see the mountains go dark while we were still in the light! Then to see you go light while we were still in the dark!

Thanks for the great video-- I experienced it in Paducah, KY. Seriously, it was a life changing experience. Unless you witness totality, you cannot understand the power of the event. Thanks again!! Awesome!!

Thank you all for sharing your awesome vid! I watched it in Ravenna Nebraska and yes it was absolutely amazing! No camera on earth truly does that justice ! 👍😊
Awesome video man! We were there three weeks before the eclipse and I couldn't get over how awesome the scenery was there. I've got to try that climb now! You definitely had the best view of the eclipse from up there.
This is the coolest thing ever. I saw the eclipse in Missouri. Life changing and mind blowing! If ya'll hike up another mountain for a future eclipse let me know- I don't have the technical background but would love to come!
Thanks for doing this video. I can't climb up mountains like you did and totally appreciate what you've done for me and other handicap people. I however had my official eclipse glasses and saw the chunk out of the sun here in Baltimore. TOTALLY AWESOME!!
I was 17 or 18, when I climbed neighboring Mt. Moran......back in the summer of 1973. I ran into a couple of guys who were training for a climb of Mt Rainier ( on a lower part of the trail up ), and they were cool enough to let me tag along. A very steep hike to the top, but we didn't use any technical equipment, as far as I recall.
This video is really awesome because from that high spot you can see the shadow around the landscape running towards you. Must have been an out of this world experience in person.
Definitely, that shadow was unreal, and so cool to see. Thank you!
It's awesome because of the Snapchat hotdog music
You should come to Mt. Katahdin in Maine in 2024!
bartolo5 That's pretty much what I was gonna say! Absolutely breathtaking!
I dreamed of being able to see totality from a mountain top. That is a very special thing you got to do.
2019, Go to Chile.
Buddha The monk The good Chilean eclipse is in 2020, not 2019. I plan on viewing it from the Pucon ski resort.
Buddha The monk Is the 2019 one not an annular eclipse? Even if it's total, it will be very short on the South American continent.
I loved watching an adventure that I'd never be able to experience myself. Wonderful video. Thank you.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
This must have been the best view you could possibly get of the eclipse... I loved it...
WOW!!! Thanks for sharing this! I didn't think this was even possible...to climb to the top and watch the eclipse. We were just below at Gros Ventre road. Northernflite Productions just post it!
Outstanding climb and view of the eclipse...so worth it! I shot mine from the Caney Fork River in TN. Nice shot of Mercury you have too!
Thanks!
Nice observation, KrizAkoni! I went back to look and saw Mercury in the clip. That was a real cool video A.T.T.M.!! Thanks for sharing it.
It is a nice shot, I agree, but Mercury was not that close to the sun. It is the star Regulus in the shot @ 5:29 - 5:31.
Very cool to see the darkness coming towards you!
How could anyone thumbs down something as cool as that?
I saw the eclipse at the exact same playground as the last one (1979).
My old elementary school + I'm 50 yrs old.
So totality was visible both times from that playground?
Im amazed and very disappointed at the bad comments of your trek......which I thought was awesome. Well, that's one you won't likely forget. Talk about a father/son memory!
We were just a couple miles away to the west, within view of Grand Teton and were thinking of all the rockstars that were watching the eclipse from the summit.
Mad props for making it. Thanks for sharing the video!!!
That is amazing you climbed up there! soo cool! Thanks for sharing this video so we could all enjoy it!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
This video gave me goosebumps ! What an amazing video, thanks for sharing this
Thank you!
This is my dream, i'm glad someone filmed it so i can at least watch it on youtube
I was right below you at Bradley Lake. Saw lights climbing up Grand Teton early in the morning. Awesome experience, great video.
Totally awesome video, me and my wife and 6 year old son were camping in lizard creek and we watched the eclipse from the totality zone next to Jackson Hole with the ski slopes in perfect view in front of the Grand Teton entrance! What an amazing experience!!!
Damn that's awesome!!! Great job!!! It was pretty spectacular on the Idaho side watching it on the Tetons.
One Bad Idea Thanks you! That must have been pretty amazing also!
Adventures To The Max words or photos truly could never describe it's beauty!

Thanks! Totally, I had no idea how amazing an eclipse could actually be!
Adventures To The Max Me neither. I'm going to the next one in 2024 no matter what. Maine might be a cool place to see it.. ⛺
The most awesome part was being able to see the shadow on the Earth surface and the fact that you were up there with your dad. Cool! That was such a fun and amazing day
During the nearly total phase, from leaves overhead, fractal light patterns shone brilliantly on the ground. This is a stunning record of the sport, at its best. Thank you.
Cool video. Congrats! My son and I climbed Mt. Borah in Idaho to see the eclipse and had a similar experience.

This is incredible. My hands are clammy watching you do that final stretch. AWESOME video, and congrats!

Sweet!!! I was in Mexico for work that day bummer haha, so glad you posted this video to share with us!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥
WoW! I must have watched this video two dozen times. What an amazing and special experience - thanks for sharing!
Wow, an adventure of a lifetime! Thank you for sharing it with us!
What a great idea ! Heck of an effort. Thanks for the video !
Loved watching from the Tetons. One of my favorite places, been there, so beautiful, peaceful ! I know it was a joy to witness the total eclipse. Glad you made it up there to view it. Loved seeing your video! Great job!
Thank you!
Great clip. In the distance you can see the light of the sun hitting the earth where the totality was less than 100%... Great job!
Great video. Double adventure - climbing the Grand Teton AND watching the total eclipse. Lucky you!
got to the saddleone day and had my climbing buddy get soaked by an unexpected rain. backtracked had a new forecast so...up at about 2 a.m. then soloed back to the col, met a German who had never climbed before, taught him the basics, made the summit and back and back down and to the airport in time for my flight at 3 just as the gate closed behind me! By far the best video of the eclipse I've seen!! That had to be so cool to experience in person. Thanks for sharing!!
Definitely one of the top ten videos I've watched on UA-cam. Thumbs up
What an amazing experience. You are lucky! Thanks for sharing!
There are no Words... 🏔🌞
Thank You For Sharing..
I Miss theTeton.. this brought tears to my eyes.. So Very Happy for You..
This brought me to tears (at work!). Thank you so much for sharing this with us all! I watched it from the Parthenon in Tennessee.
Awesome video! You even captured the bright star "Regulus", shining about a degree to the lower left of the sun Must have been one heck of an adventure!!!!!

Amazing. It was a great thrill just to watch this video. Can't imagine what the experience must have been like. Well done.
We were down on Colter Bay. Thanks for posting. IT was spectacular and only our eyes can fully capture its magnificence. Thanks for trying to capture a piece of the beauty.
Glad someone else hiked, I bet it was breathtaking from your view, I was able to get a 91% totality view, brave souls to climb the Tetons!
The best one yet!! Wow! Thank you for sharing!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw it from the beach in Charleston. Incredible. Didn't want it to end.
That is pretty sweet. It looks like a handful of others had the same crazy idea. Well done!
I'm glad someone got these shots, I was curious about the best summit. ;-) nice speed to summit. Glad you got great weather.
Awesome video! We hiked up to a saddle between two of the shorter mountains to the south, what an experience!
Awesome. Spectacular! Wish i could have been there! Amazing it was clear skies with no clouds! Tetons are often covered with clouds.
Thank for sharing! Gave me chills best total solar eclipse ever! Must share.
While you were watching from the top of the Mountains I was watching below on Elk Flats with the mountains in the background. It's amazing to watch this while thinking "At the time he reached the summit we were watching bison go by us. We could practically see each other".

You've made the best video of the eclipse. Congratulations on the video and your climb as well.
This was a great little adventure film! I loved your shots of the shadow on the horizon. So epic!
Dude this is freaking incredible!!! I thought it would be another chincy crap view of the eclipse but you killed it man this was unreal!!
Nice. I saw it too but from near the top above Teton village. I went by myself and lost my way up the mountain and by the time of the eclipse I saw I wasn't gonna make it to the top so I saw it from the top of the mountain range, but not a summit.
What makes this such a special event/video, is that you experienced/filmed it with your dad!
What an amazing video! Inspiring! Thank you for sharing! Congratulations on your feat!
I saw the 1978 eclipse from a light plane. My dad was worried that the weather at Walla Walla Washington would be bad so he made it a point to be in the air. Your experience on the mountain is similar but even more awesome! Thanks for sharing it!
This is easily the best video of the eclipse I've seen yet. The best part is the few seconds at the end where the shadow comes rushing in.
Incredible. What an adventure. Thanks for for sharing and inspiring. I live in totality path for 4/8/2024. No cliffs around here to climb. Not that I could.
Pretty cool stuff. Thanks for posting that. It must have been an awesome experience.
That was awesome. Thank you for sharing the Eclipse along with those magnificent views. +
thank you for sharing your awesome experience and your obvious good nature and enthusiasm. subbed. God bless
What a great idea, thanks for sharing it online. You earned this new subscriber!
Fantastic! Two old friends of mine from SLC used to climb Grand Teton once per year.
Very impressive feat! I'm especially impressed by your dad making that ascent as well. That had to be a wonderful bonding event for the two of you. I'm looking forward to the 2024 eclipse now. Cool video!
Dad was probably thinking"Can't believe my kid made it up here"
Wow LOL ;P))) rofl!!! and YES, it totality rocked!!!
I agree and when don said "we only have 600 more feet to go!" I was somewhat humbled LOL
This is awesome! I was actually on Table mountain just behind the grand Teton to see the eclipse. It was spectacular! Though the view from the top of the Grand you could really see that shadow coming! That was cool!
I was in the Alaska Basin to watch the eclipse! It's so cool to see a different perspective on the landscape. Thanks for posting!
Very cool! We saw it cover you about 30 seconds or so before it hit us at the Moran junction. So cool to see the mountains go dark while we were still in the light! Then to see you go light while we were still in the dark!
LOVED IT MAN! Thanks for sharing! The shadow though!!!! SO COOL!
That was so awesome!!! I wish I could be there. Glad you made it 👏👏👏👏👏
I knew somebody would make this video. Wish it had been me. Thanks for posting this....well done.
Epic destination for it! We live in Boise, Idaho and it had (mostly) totality, but we decided to drive to Weiser to a State Park and spend it with a lot of others for FULL totality. It was a beautiful bluebird day, not very hot at all, but when it got dark, it was a weird kind of darkness that fell upon the land, and the goosebumps came out! Lots of cheering, too.
Whatever you do, don't step back to admire your work! Looks like quite a drop-off.
EXCELLENT job! I'm happy for you! I saw it from Casper. Glory to the Lord!
seriously awesome video. you guys are studs!! that climb from where you started is no joke!
I was literally right below you for the eclipse! It was awesome! Found a plane area right below the mountain
Thanks for the great video-- I experienced it in Paducah, KY. Seriously, it was a life changing experience. Unless you witness totality, you cannot understand the power of the event. Thanks again!! Awesome!!
This video is just plain out amazing
We were wondering how many of you crazy guys were up at the summit from our vantage at Mountain View turnout off the park road. You got some great footage!
Great video! How wonderful to be so high up. I was fortunate to be in the area of totality also. It was nothing I had ever experienced before.
Thank you all for sharing your awesome vid! I watched it in Ravenna Nebraska and yes it was absolutely amazing! No camera on earth truly does that justice ! 👍😊
Thank you!
Wow so cool to see the shadow moving towards and the distant view gets so dark
Awesome video man! We were there three weeks before the eclipse and I couldn't get over how awesome the scenery was there. I've got to try that climb now! You definitely had the best view of the eclipse from up there.
we were right below you guys at the summit of table mountain. What an Amazing experience! killer video!
Thanks for the video. I was so awed by the totality, I forgot to look at the horizon.
Thank you for posting and sharing this experience! Peace!
Very Cool!! What a great experience! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool! We watched it Nebraska and it was the most amazing thing I've seen!
Awesome! Sao paulo, Brazil. Thx for making me feel like I was there, good job!
I was at the upper saddle during the eclipse you must have passed us on the trail
I was 17 or 18, when I climbed neighboring Mt. Moran......back in the summer of 1973. I ran into a couple of guys who were training for a climb of Mt Rainier ( on a lower part of the trail up ), and they were cool enough to let me tag along.
