I get that VC have healing so the numbers aren't 100% representative. But it is kind of amazing to me that the mortic engine got that much value and the greenskins were still that far up on value. The elite core put in serious work.
Look at it this way - manfred costs like 2k, but gives like 3.2k value, mortis is 1400 if i remember correctly and gives around 2.5 value... just those two units inflated the value by around 2500... now whole frontline is healing from mortis and corpse cart, whole army is healing from invo, whole army healing from passive, vargulf + crypt horrors have regen... even with 18k against 14k counts were still ahead in value probably (thats why they were pushing greenskin home objective)
The fact that the Krimson Killerz aren't slightly faster than other black orcs for being painted mostly red is downright criminal to greenskin culture. Or does that "rule" only apply to 40k?
Two factions I normally don't give two shits about made incredibly fun to watch because of skill, neat builds, and of course Turin. Who is dancing, dancing. He bows to the ladies, and he is a great favorite. He never sleeps, he says. He says that he will never die. He wafts pirouettes and chasses backwards. He dances in light and in shadow. He says that he will never die.
Wow the call back to Jason and the Argonauts. I haven't seen that in a long while. The skeletons definitely move like them and the Army of Darkness ones for sure though.
There's an Orc army? I never saw them. Weird to see the Vampires swinging at nothing. Good battle anyway Turin, keep up the good work! (40k Ork purple reference)
Man it really made my day after seeing a good Greenskin Krumping, watching a cringe Mortis Engine get destroyed, and then seeing the undead hit a critical mass into a deathstar blob to keep it a close game
Very few things in life are constant, but one of them is VC and the effectiveness of their blobbing. It simply boggles the mind how this faction is still so good at what it has always done since TWW1.
I'm guessing the summoning curse got him where other units just needed to be on the field, but if he managed to get the mortis out again. Greenskins wouldn't have killed it again. Took both hero and lord to take it down and once they're spent, nothing would have touched the mortis between manfred and horrors.
Great game, and I do love seeing such an old school GS build. Though I do think having an Orc Shaman would have made life a lot easier for l33chlord, with maybe some brain burstas for popping cairn wraiths, or a Foot of Gork for a chance to nuke Blood Knights
Krimson killa's truly are fast gits, some how holding the home objective and middle solo for half the game. Wish they'd said in the patchnotes that they cast now as well, unless the squigs have gotten some right propa weirdboy stuff goin on now
i think he purposefully went without flying azhag because it wouldve been a single concentrated piece that would be prime target for spirit leech spam. I think maybe squeeze in one unit of skirmish missile calv + spirit leech focus on mortis and not using it on banshee would've been enough.
man, so many shots at game changing winds of death missed. Blew his load too early, would have been money at the end or in the initial clash at point 1.
Love 2 see off-meta elite builds! I'm always confused by how tanky mortis engiens are, they don't have high armor or melee defense, and I don't think they have huge ressistances but they seem really hard to kill!
I kinda wish the value numbers showed the value size of each army on the battlefield rather than damage done. There's so many things that it doesn't account for like healing, crumbling and routed off units, army abilities, friendly fire etc.
10 seconds in, haven't checked comments yet, from builds alone imo greenskin should have gone for wurzag. Azagh's terror + Death magic is great vs low LD armies and lords that can't regen, so here a lot of value is wated, whereas wurzag can really make those black orks smash the vampire lines before any regen kicks in. The black ork boss is a decent idea i played around with, but again some value is lost since you have 3x black orks with immune to psychology... still can be usefull in mid to late game to prevent reinforcement greenskins (vulnerable to psych) from terror routing, so i don't mind too much. Could be replaced by rusty arrers + night gobo archers for some very strong support, or a savage big boar cav to protect wurzag / flanks. The infantry choice is great tho, savage orks and black orks are great to use when there's no arty / missiles on the field. So rare to be able to pick them actually...
Okay but hear me out... Those dragon bones, are much bigger than the dragons you can have in your army. So, are dragons either child soldiers, or very slow aging?
oh so the weird hockey stick visuals on black orcs when zooming out isn't a low settings thing? heck then i really wonder why CA never bothered fixing it. it'S not the world but in my grimgor campaing i went full black orcs (as you should) and it drove me crazy, it's such a little thing but it looks so braindead! xD
Hey Turin if in some way i get to USA i would like to get a jug of beer with you mate!!! Cheers on all the work you do! Waiting when i can catch you on live stream sorry been busy lately 😂
Tbh I hope they keep nerfing magic so the elite stuff continues to be more viable. As cool as magic is, it's not the centerpiece that makes this game what it is. I'd rather see small elite armies viable than strong magic.
This argument makes no sense, as magic also can counter wide armies (ask Tomb kings how they feel vs Burning Head). You put resources into casters, you get results on what you built them to do. No difference to bringing catapults or Mortis engines to counter small elite armies, so should we remove everything except mid tier infantry and lords? Elite infantry is viable, most games against WoC I'd see Chaos Warriors or Chosen to some capacity, and if I haven't got the stuff to counter them, it's a sad old time. In the same way sometimes you just auto lose to a mega wide army because you didn't bring the tools to defeat it.
@@arc4830 There's almost a factor 2 difference in value per winds between wiping out a 300g skelly warrior with a 10 winds burning head and wiping out a 1150 unit of black orcs with a 22 winds overcasted pit of shades. And black orcs aren't even among the units that are countered the most. Think Ironsworn/breakers, swordmasters, etc. They are more expensive and get wrecked even harder. And don't forget that there is low armor elite infantry that gets fucked over by a simple burning heads too.
As soon as Turin pointed out the orks were purple all of a sudden i could no longer see the green skins. I've never seen a purple ork 🫥
Seeing a black orc build immediately makes me root for the Greenskin faction. Even more so when I see the Vamps on the other team! Waaaaargh!

i think you might have missed a decent winds of death on the elite orc blob at around 9:20
yeah almost a 1k value wind
damn i didnt even notice!! definitely makes this build all the more desireable if it can tank a wind and a mortis and still hold

The orcks: paint themselves in purple.
Mangred: the enemy army seems awefully small.
Sneaky Black Orcs wearing purple. Cause purple is the sneakiest of colours!

These are the ‘fabulous’ black orcs. Also strong and independent, don’t need no chieftain orcs.
"Oi! Dat git called us off-meta!"
It was weirdly stressful to see four high-cost Greenskins infantry units lined up perfectly and engaged without it eating a Winds for half the game.
At 9:30 did we miss a big winds of death?
And of the OG faction match ups, this is my favorite.

For janky skeleton motions, I think you were thinking of 'Clash of the Titans' '81. Real old school claymation.
purple black orcs should have stalk to be lore accurate

excited to see this! i caught the end of it live but was really interested in it as a greenskins player myself.

Watching the Mortis Engine collect Chevrons was fun :D .
Man that was such a strange vid. Just Vampire and undead dying and fighting against nothing at all.
Im glad im not the only one that thought that about the skeleton animations lol

Yo Turin, I think you need to check the vid. I couldn’t see the ork team for some reason. All the vampires just started dying.

Okay but hear me out... Those dragon bones, are much bigger than the dragons you can have in your army. So, are dragons either child soldiers, or very slow aging?
It's probably an ancient dragon as dragons continue to grow throughout their lives.
I think a single catapult would've done so much for the Greenskins. Elite Infantry is cool but ultimately still rather slow at chewing through chaff.
Prob just dies to a single Manfred zombie summon. Without Azhagg in the air it's hard to protect it.
