  • Infrared saunas offer many of the same benefits as traditional steam saunas, as well as a few additional benefits that result from the use of light to create heat. I've been using IR saunas as part of my wellness routine for over two years, and in this video, I'll rundown some of the key reasons why you should consider getting one.

    The huge 16x increase in growth hormone is enough of a reason for me to use a sauna. I was not a believer until I used one for the second time, after a strenuous workout. WOW! I’d never had such a beautiful recovery the day after. I had tons of energy and no soreness at all.

    Good video and there is a boatload of data and research to back up the use of a sauna for all the issues you mentioned. Do you like the Sunlighten Model? I love my Signature Model.

    Hi, I had the opportunity to try an I infrared sauna many years ago. I was very skeptical going into it...omg was I wrong. The best way I could describe it was that it was the same refreshing feeling after swimming in the lake. I had the greatest urge to start stretching and wasn't sure why. So I am totally sold. I'm trying to convince my 80 year old dad who has a lot of aches and pains to try an infrared sauna. He doesn't exercise, he can hardly walk half a block without having to sit down. He wont try anything, he is very...well, he reminds me of the old man in the disney movie "UP". Today I came across an Infrared sauna BLANKET on Amazon. I never knew that even existed and I'm pretty sure he will try something if he can lie down while doing it, lol. I'm so excited but wanted to review a bit first. Now I'm here. What do you think about an infrared blanket for elderly people? Do you think it would be a similar result as the sauna?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  2 місяці тому +1

      IR blankets offer some benefits but they're not quite the same as actual IR saunas. Your dad could also try a red light blanket or full body mat (see michaelkummer.com/go/mitomat). Additionally, I'd encourage your dad to go on a meat-only diet for a while. Most aches are due to inflammation and not eating anything but meat will likely fix that. Depending on what you may have heard about nutrition that may seem counterintuitive but it works. See michaelkummer.com/health/plants-vs-meat/ for why that is.

    I have a 7' barel sauna with hot rock heater. I am considering to add infra red heating elements. Can you make recommendation for heating elements that can be added to my sauna. Any help will be appreciated.

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  5 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, I never purchased individual heating panels but I recommend asking for emissivity levels before purchasing and to stick to panels that offer 95%+ emissivity.

    Could I add a infrared space heater into my sauna to raise the temperature? or have you had any experience with the infrared sauna panels that are sold on Amazon? I have room in my sauna to place one on my sidewall.
    Thanks

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  2 місяці тому

      You could but it's not necessary. See ua-cam.com/video/ca05FLj0Ngw/v-deo.html. Also, I don't have any experience with sauna panels on Amazon but I suspect they're low quality and relatively ineffective.

    I tried it once last week. Infared.
    Wall said 150 Fahrenheit.
    I liked it. Didn’t love it. Sweat about a bucket of water. I had to step out for a minute at about the 11 minute and 20 minute mark.
    Just kinda felt lightheaded. Felt numbness and almost needle feelings in my hands and feet. Arms felt heavy. Everything improved when I stepped out.
    So I’m not sure if there was something wrong with me. Or if I just got too hot

    Is EMF a thing that we should worry about?

    • @MichaelKummer

      For sure. That's why I ask for test reports before purchasing an IR sauna.

    This the same thing as the infrared wellness pods in tanning salons now?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  8 місяців тому +1

      Not sure, I haven't been in a tanning salon in decades :)

    • @SweatReno
      @SweatReno 3 місяці тому

      We have an infrared pod. I think some tanning salons carry them, but they have no tanning capability. Our Pod, that looks like a fancy tanning bed, is full-spectrum Infrared so yes, has the far infrared, along with the near infrared for skin health. A lot of those places are turning tanning beds into red light beds, I'd say get in that over the tanning bed.

    Dunno... I'm going full hot rock steam.. Looked at the steam gens, but want an outside room to keep moisture out of the house. Anyway... a lot more power required. That's the downside.

    • @DanielWard79
      @DanielWard79 2 місяці тому

      Well you can build a sweat lodge. Cover a floorless tent with heavy blankets. Have a small fire with rocks heat the rocks with the fire till they're hot enough then take a shovel to bring hot rocks into tent use a ladle to pour a small amount of water onto the hot stones. Then you will create a sauna

    Is infrared different from red light therapy?

    • @MichaelKummer
      @MichaelKummer  Місяць тому

      Many red light therapy devices emit red and near infrared light, IR saunas emit far-infrared and sometimes all three wavelengths (far, mid and near). So yes, there is usually a difference.
