I have no competition, my business is miles ahead of the others in my surrounding states. I need to educate cutters so I can hire them. Also there has to be an Industry or I won’t have a job any more.
In your region as well. I self manage about 70 acres of woods that has been timbered by my family for generations . Trying to get walnut and and oak balanced out among maple, cherry, and hickory with guidance from a forester. That piece you're working on is something special with that size of wood on it. What a privilege for you and the landowner. I'd be honored to have you out in 2-3 decades lol!!! Hope the shop's coming along well. Be safe and stay dangerous!!!
Great video, those were some big trees and you did a good job with them. Its too bad that beautiful walnut had some rot. Hey, you take the bad and good, another day in woods is always good. 💯💥💪
As always, great content. Pretty young for the industry and have been doing TSI work on a friend's 80 acres for a few years now. Look forward to seeing it in 30 years and reap some of the benefits!
Nice, clean hardwood cutting. It’s a wonder UA-cam doesn’t censor you. On UA-cam if you don’t have a full wrap handle, and at least a 36” bar, cutting some kind of softwood, with a chest high stump you are a no good s.o.b 😂
Never would thought this tree to be unsound, in fact I would have bet on it being sound by looking at the ground , the roots ! Every day is a learning experience !!
@@Good.Fellerslivestock compact soil , but that first tree ( walnut ) boy that thing looked awesome before you dropped it, sap dropping fast , fall is close at hand , stay steady !
Some damn big oaks. Ive seen walnut do that too. Always heartbreaking to see. Thank you for sharing another awesome felling video. Really love seeing big trees felled by a goodfeller. Cant wait to see the next one. Keep it safe out there man.
That Walnut you Cut Should bring a Desent Price my Friend. That White Oak is Huge, should bring a Desent Price also. My Shoulder is better now so today I am doing the Stove Pipe and the Chimney. Next Week starting to Cut more Wood. You be Safe out there my Buddy, and see you at the next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Nice job. On that walnut, it looked as though your gunning cut wasn't quite flat/level, whats tue reason for that, brake the hinge before pulling? Have a great weekend.
Great video again :) I try to always put my hinge OUT of the money wood. Usually in the root flares. Punch thru the front on those big trees often because that's the only way I can reach, leaving two hinges. As little hinge as I can get away with to reduce chances of pulls. But that's me.
Yer nice bro i do urban trees still some big stumps after climbin. As not sellin the wood like a deep face cut. Bit wacthin that with lean n middle gone works well cheers
In 2006 a friend of mine approached a homeowner and asked him if he could buy the massive, straight walnut tree, that was in his yard. The guy said, " I'll give you a hundred bucks to take it, it drops nuts all over my yard and kills my grass. We got 3 eleven foot logs, with almost no taper. 51- 44". This one reminds me of that tree. We made so much loot from building tables and guitars out of that beast.
Alot of times a fat bottom swell on the butt it is usually hollow or punkie. In our area. Nice video my friend. That just what i have seen in my area. Dont know about other areas.
Those are some monsters. I learned something new with this video. Never thought about cattle being around trees causing problems. You cant find a tree in our area that doesn't have cattle around them for 6 months out of the year. Maybe why our timber has a lot of defects?
@Good.Fellers Interesting. All of the cattle are wintered on our creek bottoms where all the trees are. So they are really concentrated in there for 6 months. There will be 100hd of calving cows on 80 acres all winter.
Started with nothing my dad worked in a Steel Mill and I hate factories. Cut for others then bought a cheap junk skidder, kept trying new things til I got good at it.
Got to admit that as soon as I saw your saw fall into that walnut the 1st word out of my mouth was "SHIT". Have no idea who you are and I still react that way. Must be in the water. Glad to hear you turned out OK.
Great video, always informative!
Glad you liked it.
That pop at the end of the last tree starting to go…..never gets old.
I agree 💯
Weak men fear their competition. You give them helpful advice. Useful video, beginners to advanced.
Well done and certainly appreciated.

There were some signs that the woods had been pasture at some point but very suttle.

It’s actually just negligence. I wasn’t really that important in this situation.

You are real. You don't say " That's the tree owners problem". You sleep in the bed you made. Awesome.
I am the Tree Owner, so it MY problem.
51- 44". I totally agree on that. But it’s hard to show in a video but the walnut looked good.
Beautiful trees on your last video. What is the deciding factor on weather you hinge cut or spur cut?
What’s around.
Awesome. You should do a video of you back baring with one hand to give the "you can't back bar" people a long run for there money.😂
There’s plenty of them in the channel.
Were do you get your wedges from? Thought i bought some good ones, turned out to be junk..
K and H redheads at Madsens Saw Shop
Having it clean up completely back to veneer in 18 or so inches is pretty dam good!
Yeah not to bad.
@@Good.Fellers is that common with walnut to clean right up like that? I would've thought the rot would have caused defects
@mattlynch2823 walnut usually is healthier then it looks.
Those rot pockets are common on the but wear animals were pastured in the past.
All your videos are great ones and as always that 14min seemed like 5.
Thank you for the kind comment! I’m glad you enjoy the channel.

Never know!
Fact
Line your hinge up with the major roots on the stump. Leave a Dutchman on the side you hold your wood and send it!!
No hinge needed
Bro is consistently cutting some massive walnuts
That’s what I do.
Makes me wonder if some of my giant trees are money trees.
Send me a email with location and pics and I’ll tell ya.

Work the weekends, don’t be a weak sauce. That’s the secret to this game.
Those are some monsters. I learned something new with this video. Never thought about cattle being around trees causing problems. You cant find a tree in our area that doesn't have cattle around them for 6 months out of the year. Maybe why our timber has a lot of defects?
The animals urine is terrible for the trees.
@Good.Fellers Interesting. All of the cattle are wintered on our creek bottoms where all the trees are. So they are really concentrated in there for 6 months. There will be 100hd of calving cows on 80 acres all winter.
@user-ml2nd5br3m If I’m sure the timber I’m looking at was pastured cows or hogs, I know there will be mineral stain and rot issues.
Was your thumb injury caused by a chainsaw?
No, splitting wood.
What chain are u running ?
Stihl 36rs
Damn comment
Hell yeah!!
A single…full…pull to get that Husky started, huh? My Stihl would’ve only taken…never mind.
Lol
big trees there!
Yes sir!
Was that oak you cut at the end a Chestnut oak?
No it was a weird but/ swamp white oak I believe.
No climbing, no bucket, no rigging, no powerlines, no houses. Almost sounds gravy. Good title though.
Risks were the money my man.
This is a logging channel not a tree service. I would never deal with the crap you guys deal with in town and in peoples yards.
@@Good.Fellers i couldn't agree more. I'm just jealous is all.
Most timber hunters I know had a shoe in. Family usually. Whats your story?
Started with nothing my dad worked in a Steel Mill and I hate factories. Cut for others then bought a cheap junk skidder, kept trying new things til I got good at it.

Yeah, that sucked, but it worked out ok.
How old is a tree that size?
100-200 years old.
Thanks for that
Yes sir!
You’re crying about 12.5’ walnut veneer ?? STOP!! I’ll take it you don’t !!! 😎
😎
What’s shake?
Where a ring is completely broke so you have a cylinder of wood inside the tree that is broke off from outer shell.
@@Good.Fellers copy
👍
Is a shame lota good timber. Just its back yard stuff really hard to get out even in bits.
Bummer
@@Good.Fellers it is had guy in melbourne would pick up logs. But sydney not lot. Is shame gets chipped
Thats a bummer to see logs wasted
Here's yur dam comment ....do t buy the west coast saw raker guage...its junk ...iys too soft and dont last long at all...good videoo
I have no knowledge of it. I will say this, a raker gauge isn’t necessary. Just more junk to lug around.
You talk about "this area" a few times. I'm guessing you're in southern Ohio, IN, or IL?
Somewhere east of the Mississippi Rivah >>>>>*
Walnut not good in southern Ohio or Indiana to many defects
