I bought one of them (a healthy one 😁) six months ago. Great indoor plant, doing well in my bright bathroom of distanced indirect sunlight. The leaves open and close; like they saying good morning and good night. It's one of my favorites.
I have one of these plants. I have had this plant since St. Patricks Day of 2004. It was given to me by my builder. I still have the original plant and have started others. It is an amazing plant and I love it.
I found one growing in my garden and dug up a HEAP of rhizomes and repotted 6 new oxalis babies. Still have the 'master' in the ground and it's happier than ever, shooting up tons of babies. This is my current fave plant.
Thank you! I didn't even know how to evaluate what this plant ought to be doing and getting for health. Tomorrow, some trimming and going forward, turning. It's a beautiful one and I hope it is going to be happier from now on.
I really liked this video. It feels more like your plant if you rescue it. I'd like to see more as I watch the stores that bring in plants and just sell what they can and let the rest die. You can get bargains and save a life.
Wow, I've never heard of seen this kind of plant. Thanks for all the info on it, now when I go looking for it, I'll have a good grasp of what it's all about. Thanks, another great video.
Thank you for this video. My Oxalis goes back and forth being healthy and perky then droopy, then back to healthy. I usually just pull the dead ones out, the whole stem just comes right out....but I'm going to try your method and cut back the steams and see what happens. Thank you :)
I got my plant last year and I made a mistake when it got to dormancy I kept watering it. After your video , I have to control the water for it. Thank you !
all those flowers made me think it was "happy" to be saved and thanking you with them! I would love to see a failed attempts video though! Maybe to show people the reason it died, then say what you would have done differently in order to save it. Not many people even mention losing a plant but it is a very common I would think and bolsters confidence in new plant owners that even knowledgeable growers still fail on occasion too.
Thank you for this video. Half of My purple shamrock started wilting. I had to get them out and the next day the rest of them wilted and died and I didn't know what to do with it so your video really is a huge help for me. Hoping I would be able to revive my baby
I love your work space. Great video. Can we see another tech video. Make so automatic watering system. Maybe using a ground moisture sensor to test if the soil is moist enough. I don't know.
Good Job !!!!!!... I just one today.. so I'm going to do the same thing to save my purple rain shamrock. Its leggy on side areas. I hope I can help save it. I shall keep you posted. Thank you for the video. Very helpful
I was just given one of these dying beauties..I want to save it. The person who gave it to me drowned it in water and I immediately re-potted it in a much better soil that wasn't floating in water. Thanks for this video, I needed to see this.
You know that you can eat the leaves and the flower of the Oxalis. They had an acidic flavour like the lemon. Actually my grand mother used to put some leaves in the salad and the taste is amazing.
If you still have this you should definitely dig up the corms and break them into smaller ones because I think they get to a certain size and then they want to go dormant more often. Also they are fertilizer hogs!
Look for signs in the leaves if they show signs of being sick then you'll know, if its just producing less and they are just naturally dying off then hibernation is coming. kind of hard to explain through text
Great information. Thanks. I just received an oxalis Pink Pillow from The Plant Farm here in Washington State. Watching your video will definitely help me do this plant justice. Is the dormant period fall winter for a indoor plant like the outdoor ones? Thanks again.🙂
HELP! I have had my GREAT grandmothers oxalis plant for over 30 years. I accidentally let it get frozen a couple of years ago. I recently saw a tiny twig of it coming back. In an attempt to save it, replanted a couple of weeks ago. I only have two tiny tiny twigs and as of this afternoon one looks dead. When I re potted, I did in moist soil with afternoon sun on my deck. I think the sun was a mistake. ANY suggestions are appreciated!
I love my oxalis, they're amazing. I believe they're actually pretty unlikely to pollinate if you've got one plant though. I read that the flowers are strictly male or female which prevents the plant from inbreeding too much. (the flower stamens look different--one has pollen higher than the other) So you'd have to find the opposite sex to pollinate it with.
I have the iron cross variety and I thought they'd fill up my pot with leaves but the leaves are always dying and coming up over and over again it looks kind of ugly because there are always droopy, dying leaves mixed with healthy ones. My purple one doesn't do that. :(
should you have clipped the dying petioles? couldn’t the plant continue to photosynthesize from them or at least absorb back nutrients as they atrophy? what was the reasoning there?
I saved my oxalis plant 6 years ago. I call it my zombie plant bc its been through everything and keeps coming back. It looks worse than ever now. Looks like roly polys are living in it. Any advice?
Turning this plant has to be kept up with tho......if you let this plant grow long and longer looking for light....then turn it 180*..it tends to make the long stems become tangled....but when in doubt....dry and divide and give away...in 2 weeks the new leafs will start to grow again and a flower spike or two.... I did like your tip on clipping green stems from red stems in your plant clean up video......have you seen versicolour or candy cane o Alain’s?...another wonderful oxalis....zone 6 here...

My plant looked exactly like that when I bought it! Thanks for the demonstration and advice! :D
Thanks for watching!
I love the color of this plant, thanks for this video.

Ill make one! I have a few failed videos saved lol
How do you know if it is going dormant or just needs water. If it is going dormant, should I stop watering for a while and how long?
Thank you, so informative!!
One of my very favorite plants
They really are so beautiful!

The flowers are actually edible! Found it on a rack of edible flower plants in the garden center :)
maybe ill try one!
But only in small quantities, and not as feed for lifestock.
It does contain some amount of oxalic acid after all.
they are great for use as garnishes

Now Im going to have to eat them lol
what ,,,,?are you sure?
I have read the same comment on some other video of oxalis 😂
@@florencemonzon1412 yes i am! You can try it

I usually pick the spent flowers off and toss them into the soil. They regrow and my shamrock gets fuller and fuller.
I know this was 4years ago but please...Can someone tell me what is the best potting mix for this plant? Thanks in advance.
I love this video and this plant, thank you. How can you tell if a struggling plant is dormant or dying?

Depends on if its in the window. the sun will tell the plant to go dormant

I purchased one and it has no roots! It is now showing signs of death. What should i do?
well you could clip it back to the corms or whatever they are called and repot it
Hi.... Can we water propogate it by leaf??? I tried but no results till now.... M a plant lover too.... would love your tips
so what exactly you did to your dying plant to make it alive besides trimming the dead?
My thoughts exactly...
Nothing. He trimmed it and watered properly. This plant is indestructible
How water properly. How do i know dying or dormant?
How to deal with fungal infection...the leaves of my plant are getting brown green 🥺
ive heard people have luck with cinnamon, but you can get anti fungal spray from garden centers

Thanks for watching and thanks for the info, I now have a good excuse to get a second one!
I've got one that is over 50 years old! Recently developed light spotted dried up leaves. Any suggestions??
Would the stem colour be the same for the green oxalis? Should they be red... how do you know which are dying if not?
it probably wont be very different so im not sure what to say, i dont have the green variety
How you saved?
Mine looks like something is eating it like little holes in the leaves. What can I do for that ?
You need to identify what's eating them first so you can then treat them appropriately. do you see any sort of tiny bugs?
My purple petals keep falling off. It’s watered in sunny conservatory. Don’t get it
I heard if you pluck the flowers the plant gets bushy
you can always try it! Ive never tried but a lot of times pinching off flowers promotes more leaf growth
Yes, you can pollinate them
Awesome!
How water correctly
In the Philippines thier are a lots of oxalis triagularis also known as butterfly
very cool!
I have same thing on all leaves what do I do
chop chop
I have a purple Oxalis but it never has flowers
Great video! 👍🌹
I thought it's dead but it's back it's Soo cute
yup they can go dormant!

should you have clipped the dying petioles? couldn’t the plant continue to photosynthesize from them or at least absorb back nutrients as they atrophy? what was the reasoning there?
You can leave the healthy ones. but once they start dying I think they lose efficiency and end up costing the plant more energy than they can produce.
Why does my oxalis droop after repotting? Repotted twice and both times it droops, like it's going to die :(
A lot of plants react violently when repotting, its one of the most stressful things you can do to a plant
I just bought one online, they gave me like 5 stem, and all of them are green, how can i revive it:)
give it a little bit of time. sometimes they are shocked from shipping
@@TechplantChannel thank you so much!! I hope it'll make it through:)
When it turned pink might be over water.
interesting! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video did you water and fertilizer it when it was cut back ??what is dormart ??
I didnt fertilize it. i think you could use a weak one at first but im really not an expert on when and when not to feed plants
I saved my oxalis plant 6 years ago. I call it my zombie plant bc its been through everything and keeps coming back. It looks worse than ever now. Looks like roly polys are living in it. Any advice?
roly polies are good for the soil!
Help me save mine
Mine are curling and there are some "pinching" like structure at the back of every leaf. Do you why and how to help them?
interesting im not sure

I keep one as a houseplant and it never goes dormant.
I've had one for about five years and it's never gone dormant either. Maybe, it's because I live in a warmer climate.
