I have a new train horn and the biggest pain in the ass was the relay wiring. This is by far the BEST video I could find that made the job not only easier but actually understand why the wires go where they go on the relay. Thank you!!
Gday mate im an Aussie I ve seen other you tube vids on relay set ups for running something and thanks you have been the only person that showed me how a relay works for anything cheers mate hope to bump into you some day and have a beer Phil
Aussie, I thought Aussies were freedom-loving rebels, but all of the crackdowns on things such as encryption have me thinking Australia is as unfree as the EU or or...China... Don't let the government treat you like that!
This video is great. Very informative especially for those of us who really don’t know a lot about automotive wiring..I have a 2017 Tacoma and just got the Musket horn from Hornblasters with the wiring harness... not very good info in wiring it up tho....
I have a 2013 Sonata Limited and I replaced the horn with a small compressor horn from Marco Automotive called Tornado. Purchased on amazon. It came with a 4 point relay. Following is the hookup for the relay and horn. I had to take a picture of the relay and then zoom the pic to see the numbers on the terminals. 87-Is fed from the positive 12 volts on the battery terminal. Install an inline fuse. 30- Goes to the positive terminal on the horn 86- Goes to chassis ground 85- Is fed from existing wire that comes from the steering wheel. This is one of two wires that are part of the harness of the original horn. The black wire has a constant 12 volts on it. The green has 12 volts applied when the steering wheel button is pressed. When 85 is energized from the green wire from original horn, it energizes the coil which lets 12 volts flow from 87 (12 Volts from battery) to 30 the positive on horn.
I'm installing an air horn on a 2002 Buick Lesabre. I found the wiring diagram for the horn. But I'm wondering if you can tell me, is my horn switched on the positive or negative? I'm guessing this wiring is for vehicle that use ground to switch the power on and off for the horn? The wiring diagram that came with my horn is different, it has a ground wire connected to the relay and a positive input for the horn switch signal. If I'm not misunderstanding or mis-remembering anything.
Thank you very much for the information do you have a video showing with the solenoid? Recently I bought a Viking horn and came with a solenoid 230 amp relays two compressors three horns. Two relays 30 amp each. It shows running a ignition only wire to the horn button to the pressure switch to the relay. Also two 25 amp inline fuse wires going straight to the relay. It sure is nothing about jumping from one side of the relay to the other. The other side of the pressure switch runs straight up to the relay as well and the other side of the solenoid is ground I don't think there's no clarity to it because it doesn't say which is which. But the way I haven't rigged up every time I turn my ignition to the on position it blows the horn. Any help would be greatful thank you
How can one of these horn be installed on a fifth wheel that doesn't have the horn wire like a car I got a horn kit and a universal push button switch it should work rt
I saw that you jumped the 2 positive high and low is that ok to do all the time ,my horn has a +and- so I will connect those to 85/86 and I still need an extra power source for 30or 87
Ok, wait. Is it possible I can just buy this and wire it right to my battery? I have an existing PA speaker with an extra wire that I can connect the horn too. So why can't I connect that and then run it through the firewall to the battery?
Is there a way to set this horn up to run from a power supply that connects to mains power? So that I can avoid the need for a battery pack? And have it constantly powered?
Does the output from the relay to the horn go on the positive or negative terminal of the horn? Then the other terminal from the horn would go directly to the chassis ground?
I haven't had a working horn in a few years, so may rarely use this horn (needed for safety inspection in the state i just moved to). So, a pre-wired relay should be fine, right? my clunker is 25 years old....uh, i was 'laying on my horn' when i killed it. so do i merely need to replace the relay?
Good afternoon, I'm Jay from Vegas Strip Party bus. We have the Mercedes sprinter & my boss wants to replace the existing horn with a air horn. Can you please send me useful information?
No. Polarity is correct . I'm wondering it is the wire , it is for a light kit and uses 16ga wire . Would that cause low current pull and cause the compressor to react weakly? Should I go to 12 ga wire?
So this set up would not require a zena diode to dissperce left over voltage from the relay? Watched a motorcycle specific video where the horn switch was on the positive input side of the relay vice the negative. Leftover voltage would cause funky lights and possibly ECU damage without a diode between pin 85 (+switch) and 86 (-) so the guy installed one.
If I connect the new horn like the one in your video, to the existing wires to my original snail horn, why would i need a relay? What purpose doe it serve?
ok. I want to connect only one air horn. There are 2 cables that were connected to the previous horn. My multimeter show 12 volts when the horn is pressed, and 0 when it's off ,But I did not understand how to connect it to Relay and how to connect the new horn to Relay.
I wonder if you can help me, I'm installing a set of musical horns and ideally I wanted to be able to set up a toggle switch and use the cars factory horn button to operate either the standard horn or the air horns... how do I go about it?
I bought the HEYVO Air Train Horn for Car with Air Compressor 12V 17.7 Inches Loud Truck Horn for SUV Motorcycle Lorrys… Comes with a relay compressor has pos and neg the wires from relay are plugged in their places, the other 2 wires are hooked to pos and neg on battery so how do i hook to my original car horn wiring? Its my first time with a compressor horn
the positive should go to fuseed +12v, the - should go to either a grounding type switch (or) the - horn wire in your vehicle's steering column, if you need the color and location, let me know the vehicle..
I just went and ordered Twidec/16MM Raised Speaker Horn Momentary Push Button Switch 5/8" Mounting Hole 12V Green Led Light Silver Stainless Steel Shell 1NO 1NC SPDT with Pre-Wiring Wires Switch for Car Modification G16LB-G So ill have original car horn and have the train horn on a auxiliary horn button
Does it matter if the positive 12 volt from battery goes to pin 30 and out on pin 87 to positive on horn? In other words are pin 87 and 30 interchangeable?
People that make horn videos. Should understand that not everyone horn works. Nor do they have 500 bucks to fix the steering wheel. Noone uses it with connecting the car horn ?
OK I’m glad everybody can understand this video but somebody who has lack of intelligence like me this video makes no sense because I look at my factory horn there are two wires Grantit one wire comes from my horn on my steering wheel am I using just that one wire and disregarding the other days to Torio’s gift minimal exclamations instead of real pictures of what’s going on
I consider myself smarter than average, but also can't figure this stuff out. Some of these videos are better than others, but every kit seems a bit different and I need more visuals such as diagrams that are easy to see and with colors so I know which is which.
Your video almost helped me except that the zoom is too close I can see what the wires are doing on your setup nor do I understand wtf your saying make it simple what wire goes where give me instructions no an explanation!!!!!!!! Best instruction ever..clear and simple..thank you for sharing..
Glad it was helpful!
Simply the best instructional video on this subject, clear and informative thanks!
Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it
This video is much appreciated! Getting ready to install some kleinn horns with a viair compressor. This helped a lot!

Thanks for sharing. I hope this helps me wire an air horn to go with my stock horn because I am totally stumped.
Think this will give me a solution to my issues with the air horn
You da MAN!!!!👍🏼💪🏼thanks for the tutorial video.
Very helpful brother!!!!!
So which wire does the switch go in..?? The negative or the positive side..?? How do you tie the switch in..??
So what do you do with the oem relay in the underhood fuse relay box?
I want to apply this to a mobility scooter.
But i want to fit an independent switch straight from the batteries.
Any info would be appreciated

How do i wire a 5 pin button to a horn
Hello...
For a motorcycle, what would happen if i don’t use Relay, will do damage ?
Most likely, Yes. Play it safe and put it in. Its in the kit for that reason..
ok.
I want to connect only one air horn.
There are 2 cables that were connected to the previous horn.
My multimeter show 12 volts when the horn is pressed, and 0 when it's off ,But I did not understand how to connect it to Relay and how to connect the new horn to Relay.
My relay have 4 connectors.
thats ok, the center pin *87a* isnt needed anyhow.
Here here here. And here.

Would this setup work for a separate horn button?
sure, that works just the same
Can I hookup 3 horns to the same relay? Say 3 12v horns?
That is doable.
Does it matter if the positive 12 volt from battery goes to pin 30 and out on pin 87 to positive on horn? In other words are pin 87 and 30 interchangeable?
you can do it either way
@@Lesscoelectronics THANK YOU
I like tour video!
Im hooking it to a toggle switch do i need a relay? Or can i shoot one to battery than other staight to horn?
you can go either route I suppose, Just please use proper fusing if you go the short cut route
@@Lesscoelectronics should i put fuses between both?
Just put a fuse nearby where you source the +12 volt power from.

I purchased a wire harness connector for my stereo. The red wire it’s connected to the harness. What do I connect it to?
That red lead needs to go to an accessory power circuit.
where does the yellow wire goes to?? the battery?? if thats the case why we supplying 12v from the steering wheel??
that MUST go to constant +12v power
so yellow constant to battery plus with a fuse????
yes sir, you got it.
How do I get your email so you can send me the info to install air horns on my 2017 Ridgeline?
