I SO appreciate that you provide recommendations for books that you didn't personally enjoy, and with the reasons you personally didn't enjoy it. It shows a deep understanding that reading is subjective, and one person's ick is another person's yum. I have found so many books that I love based on negative reviews!
Loved this! Added Road of Bones to my list! Agree with you on Penn Cole's Everflame series, it gets better each book but there are moments where the heroine is frustrating. She has the Aelin tendency to make decisions without including people but in this series it's to more determent than success. Still need to finish and waiting for book 4! My favorite fantasy romance this year is the Prison Healer series -YA and really well done. Just so enjoyable with really solid writing! 🐲
🧙♂️🧚♀️ hi Crystal! I'm so glad you posted this video because I've been seeing the Everflame series everywhere, so this is my sign to give it a try. I'm listening to Divine Rivals right now and am really liking it so far. Have a great day!
I am, for real, a descendant of Vikings, they used to inhabit the island where I live, but I haven’t adopted their mythology 😁 It’s fun to read about, though 🧚♂️
fantasy worlds that are basically copy and paste from the real world with magic and only slightly shifted names is one of my biggest pet peeve of fantasy books. like if its gonna be so close to our world just set it in an alternate version of our world instead of saying you are doing something new. (like i am not talking about grisha verse as that is inspired by and blends fantasy with our world elements beautifully but i have read some others just literally only change names and it drives me mad. at least the grisha verse feels both familiar and new not just copy pasted. ) i dont know if any of that made sense....
I finally approached "when the moon hatched" and unfortunately the biggest turn off was the heroine and the amount of f**k and s**t she overused on practically every page 😖 I don't mind cursing when it needs to pack a punch, but here this was just the way she communicated. I'm not saying I need a demure princess for a heroine and poetry in every sentence, but fantasy is a fun escape for me and I don't want it reflecting a day-to-day sitcom/street talk. :( A bummer, because I really was looking forward to this one. I dnfd midway through. But today I finished "spin the dawn" and OMG! I onlywanted a cute asian flavored fantasy and I got so much more🥰

I read the Married to Magic series last month and enjoyed them. Getting ready for the new book which I think comes out in August. 🧚♀️🧚♂️
@noveltotable I really like that series! I've recommended them in other videos!
@@crystalsbookishlife have you read any of her other series? I trying to decide if I should add them to my August reading.
