Am I the only one who chuckled when he pointed out the contradicting politicians who quickly jumped sides…as-if that does not perfectly mirror irl politics.
Act 2 is so crazy good for how short it is. The story is so intriguing look into populace reactions post war and the strains of a rebuild period which is a breeding group for spiritual revaluation to spread. But how revolts can be used politically. It calls upon a reflection of last act, where we played what we thought was light hearted rebels. But they had a lot of miraculous help. The black knight. The queen of the wolf people. Barely through the game, but so much questions and self reflection. All wrapped together with 3 good chapters, only 2 bad ones. What an amazing act, for this amazing game
Elincia despite her limited screen time might be me favorite main character in the series besides Leif Her growth and change is nearly unmatched for a protagonist and the way she has to stay strong for others despite wanting to break down and cry, the strength and resolve she shows is truly great and I love her Stan elincia
To be fair, people like Elincia's Gambit *because* it presents you with a choice. You can minmax the entire thing and get a lot of experience and carefully dismantle the map and steal as much as you can while simply enjoying the map... or you can end the map as fast as you can and miss on many of those.
Yeah I think this has become an often overlooked aspect of the map lately. I feel similarly about the bishop map in PoR which sometimes gets criticised for being able to be cleared instantly by attacking the boss with siege tomes when that also means losing out on the treasure.
The first time seeing the cutscene at the end of part two, i thought Lucia was actually going to die but when i recognized the Greil Mercenaries, i was screaming in excitement, that cutscene was awesome despite the terrible voice acting.
I really liked the cutscene as a kid! You get a good action sequence as they reintroduce the FE9 cast. I focused on the subpar line delivery because it made for a good joke in this video.
Bro I forgot how much everyone in Crimea hated Elincia for just existing. Seeing her endure so much of unnecessary and unreasonable hatred makes he by far one of my favorite protagonists in the series. Also I do love that point you made of Lucia having a choice to literally just walk away from Ludveck. It reminded me so much of Engage when Diamant and Alear let Ivy run away after she gets defeated, despite her being surrounded. Idk what it is with Fire Emblem characters and common sense lmao. Can't wait for you to play part 3!
There are SO MANY moments in Engage where someone casually walks away and the playable cast just stands there with one arm outstretched like "Wait... don't leave..."
It is a problem with how so many FE enemies in the past two games are no longer one-off villains meant to get killed. They are important characters who have to retreat regardless of how illogical it is for them to.
I think given that act 2 is all about the staus of Crimea after the previous war it makes sense to show it from multiple different perspectives. I can understand this part of the game not being everyones cup of tea but I like it for how experimental and creatively designed it is.
i remember back when i first played 3-E. I ended my turn, took the fattest dump of my life, and came back to the Green phase just ending. Nowadays, I end my turn and go out to have a nice lunch and come back to the enemy phase still ongoing. Yes it's the same game someone send help my electricity bill is through the roof i have not turned off my wii in 11 years
Hey man I don’t really comment much, but I just wanted to say your script writing and pacing is incredible. You’ve captured this great blend of comedy, criticism, and narrative. Keep up the good work
My biggest memory from this part is my brother and I going crazy calculating everything in Endgame to kill Ludveck with Leanne using a spectre card. Great video!
It's interesting to have someone analyze the game without the nostalgia glasses like i have since both Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance are games that I grew up with. Cant wait for part 3! In another note, team Nephenee!! Woo! xD
9:56 what's funnier is that when he (or one of the other birds) transform, they have an entire 0 tiles of vision in fog of war, if there aren't other units nearby you can only see the tile that they're occupying.
I've been rewatching these two videos, and seeing you joke over how many game overs you got because of characters that aren't Micaiah or Elincia dying is way too funny. Having so many units be game over units is one of my guilty pleasures with this game, due to how important it makes them. Not many others feel like I do, but it's still way too funny. XD
Yeah. I had her dodge hundreds of attacks just to see what would happen, and I was surprised by the premature haircut. They made two models for Swordmaster; they could've done that for Trueblade as well.
You really should just order the yellow units to halt, they give you that option for a reason. They just eat up experience and are only there to add a semblance of making you feel like you're actually leading an army
Love this video and its predecessor. Don’t want to speak too soon, but it may inspire me to create similar videos of my own, which I’ve wanted to do for a while. Keep up the good work!
Great video. I actually enjoy Part 2 and hope it is expanded if this duology gets a remake, give us a better perspective on how the country is reeling from the war.
I feel like chapter 1 of act 2 is there mostly to go “Beginon Bad” which apparently needs reinforcing despite all the war crimes from act 1. “See; they’re mean to Crimea too - those folks you like. Clearly they’re the baddies.” Also gives us a chance to see that despite the Apostles best efforts slaving is still ongoing in her territory.
Sure, that makes sense! There's a lot of setup to cement Begnion as the overall badguy of FE10, I mostly commented on it being out of place because part 2 feels a little strained in terms of screentime, I suppose, haha
Oh absolutely; RD feels like it should have been two games that were kinda smashed into each other. If it was on a handheld I feel like it would have been a split game; one half following Crimea and one half following Daein. Speaking of the game we have though, not the game that could have been, Radiant Dawn's early chapters are doing a lot of set-up and heavy lifting. As you mentioned in the video; Path of Radiance ended on a high note. The war is won, racism is solved, and the god of chaos is safely locked away. And thats a problem if you want to make a sequel. As a result Radiant Dawn actually covers some fairly interesting themes. Sure most of the early villains we meet in the game are comically evil; but the background events are fairly complex. Racism wasn't solved; much like the South in post Civil War America. Sure the war is over and Galia even helped Crimea rebuild...but that doesn't erase centuries of suspicion and cultural conflict overnight. Daein's been defeated; but Ike literally murdered half the young men in the country by himself. Its a lot like post WW2 Germany except if someone gave the whole damn thing to Russia. In Arc 2 we see that while Queen Elincia managed to reclaim her throne she doesn't have the respect of the nobility. Crimea was occupied by Daein for a decent period of time. The Daein army likely murdered most of the nobility who would be sympathetic to her; the remaining nobles are the ones who kept their heads down. Plus, she's illegitimate. Sure she's got the Empire's backing and Galia's backing but that just makes her a puppet in their eyes. They also resent the idea that Ike was made a Lord despite his lowly birth. Sure; Elincia should have the confidence of the common folks but at the same time people often act against their own self-interest. Elincia's respect for her allies and desire to avoid war can be painted as weaknesses by agitators; and if you've ever played Crusader Kings you should know that the most dangerous people to your rule are your own scheming nobility. Just a thought. There's a lot of cartoon logic in the main story; but its actually pretty reasonable if you look at the events in the background.
Letting units die makes my neck itch, hurts my soul. I do think often on part 2’s place in the story. Watching this video I am only now registering how the Lucia map is made entirely pointless the moment it ends. One has to wonder if it wouldn’t have been better to just make Elincia more of a player in part 3, rather than relegating her presence to two chapters; it’s not like ike gets any development during his chapters…
the Part 2 Prologue is related to the story in that it shows Beignon not taking Crimea seriously, which some of the population is "worried" about. It also comes up further on in Part 3.
I loved this so much! You make such good points, and am really looking forward to seeing what you think about Part 3, and especially about the best story-arc ever gifted to mankind due to how devoid of filler it is: the one, the only... Part 4😎 Not gonna lie, I am a massive shifting POV junkie, but I have to say that Part 2 is not so much fun on replays. Still leagues above the hellhole that is Part 4, though, because at least I get me ze juicy character interactions that the rest of the game basically lacks. If only the new Daein characters and Vika had gotten half the amount of love the writers clearly poured into Part 2's info scenes...😓
Hey! New subscriber here, I had auto-play on so I didn't get to respond to your last Radiant Dawn video, but you asked for some feedback! I got into your vids with the "No Damage" runs, and I loved them! Your style of editing has just enough memes and haha funny to make me smile and laugh occasionally, while keeping an educational rundown of what you're doing. I love it! I actually kind of forgot that your Radiant Dawn run WASNT damage-less when Ed took that hit in part one LMAO. Anyways, just letting you know that your style is a nice refresher from what's out there, and if you wanna focus on UA-cam, I'm excited! Keep up the good work!
I'm liking this video series as I am also replaying thru this game again with some extra time on my hands. I completed a hard mode run last week and I am attempting a maniac mode run now. Pretty annoying not being able to see enemy ranges or battle save but that's ok. Also I always liked Lucia and Geoffrey because I think they are supposed to references to Erika and Ephrem from Scared Stones
I will say in both the chapters with allies I just direct them to stay where they start so I don’t have to sit through their movement in the ally phase and it adds a little(emphasis on little) more difficulty to the chapters
Regarding the question at around 9:40, Radiant Dawn has an emulator glitch where fog of war does not update properly sometimes. I'm not entirely sure why it happens, but I assume that's what you saw there.
I think the reason why Radiant Dawn is my favorite FE game is because of how limited some units availability is, it's constantly switching things up, but it's also always making sure you have the tools to deal with something up ahead. If your Dawn Brigade is weak because you used primarily Sothe? Boom have the Black Knight. If you have a civil war to deal with, boom have a sleepy man on a lizard. I haven't played this game since becoming a lesbian and I was already obsessed with Nephenee for being a very exclusive class in my eyes (a footsolider unit with lances that isn't a knight) so I can't imagine how obsessed with her I'm going to be on my next playthrough Loving this series, super excited to see what you think of part 3, it's probably the best part, I like them all but just, objectively it has the most stuff and the best stuff
“I don’t know what the point of this item is.” This will be a recurring feeling for you. I always consider this game to be severely underbaked in the design department
Never played Radiant Dawn, but Path of Radiance is one of my favorite FE games. Astrid and Marcia are usually two of my MVP's. I would have reset for them lol
While Astrid is good and fun in FE9, she's soooo bad in FE10 to where I didn't even blink when she died (Terrible base stats, poor availability, Paragon doesn't apply to bonus xp anymore, her paragon can be removed and given to another unit, locked to bows until T3 promo, the list goes on)
I think Part 2 is meant to be more as an overall Crimean Royalty/Knights storyline and not specifically just Elincia's story. That's why you shuffle through so many different groups in Part 2. Also you might regret letting Marcia die later on. She's not the best unit in RD, definitely got nerfed from PoR. But still very helpful to have her trained later on, especially for a certain Part 4 map. Oh and you should have sent the Speedwing from 2-3 to the Convoy so Haar could use it before 2-E. He sometimes has doubling issues in 2-E but I believe 22 SPD is enough to double pretty much every enemy on the map.
10:28 I could choose to criticize your decision to send an untransformed bird laguz unit deep into unknown territory after you have already found out that Bows Exist on this map. But instead I choose to laugh about dying to invisible shadow monsters, because that was a good joke.
100% a skill issue. You sent an untransformed raven off by himself into an area you knew you couldn't see. How can you not see how stupid that is. It's as if you're trying to fail.
every bird laguz can only see 1 tile ahead, this is a subtle nod the the fact that they're birds. Except for Janaff since good eyesight is his whole thing.
When the game forces you into most casual playthrough and resets for you on every death. No unit is worth my time of replaying a chapter. If they die, they are probably a bad unit. If they were not bad, then they would not have died. When next stream? 0.0
I've been catching up on editing since that's my bottleneck for video production, but I'll likely stream RD Part 3 while I'm chipping away at my FE6 No Damage Taken vid, which I want to be my next release
This vid came out faster than a Part 2 Chapter 5 enemy phase
That's not saying much...
"Gay panic for nephenee"
"I saved all the bouns xp for nephenee"
"I might be obsessed with her"
Yeah same ngl
Ahh I see you are also both people of culture.
Am I the only one who chuckled when he pointed out the contradicting politicians who quickly jumped sides…as-if that does not perfectly mirror irl politics.
it's too real

You work fast. 2 weeks for such a detailed analasis, im really impressed, really enjoyed the last one.
Neph simps rise
i literally just obtained Neph in my POR Hard run so I feel this 😆
Ah yes, the Spectre Card, my Ike memory scene key item

I mean, considering everything he's doing this chapter, yes.

PLEASE MAKE PART 3

Yet another banger, excited for the next one!
Your vids on RD made me revisit PoR so I can attempt RD with transferred saves. Love Fire Emblem, and love you content

I memba one rd playthru I managed to promote Lucia in her 1 chapter of battle and Trueblade Lucia has her hair precut which was endlessly funny to me
Yeah. I had her dodge hundreds of attacks just to see what would happen, and I was surprised by the premature haircut. They made two models for Swordmaster; they could've done that for Trueblade as well.
I love you, cute plushe shark!
You really should just order the yellow units to halt, they give you that option for a reason. They just eat up experience and are only there to add a semblance of making you feel like you're actually leading an army
Any enemies killed by yellow units have their EXP converted into BEXP at the end of the chapter. You do not lose any of it.

I can't watch the video rn (can't turn on sound) but I find it funny that I only just finished RD this year. Personally, I loved the game a lot.
All hail Geoffrey!
Good video!
Bad video grrrrr
(Good video)
10:28 I could choose to criticize your decision to send an untransformed bird laguz unit deep into unknown territory after you have already found out that Bows Exist on this map.
But instead I choose to laugh about dying to invisible shadow monsters, because that was a good joke.
9:38 it's probably Leanne's vision, not Heather's.
Still waiting for part 3 :(
Part 3 ?
Hope you're having a good day
you shouldn't compulsively look at your phone just because there is nothing else stimulating going on.
I'll be honest dude, I didn't have an issue with the cave map even when I was 9. You were being too aggressive with their movement
Look I gotta be that guy. Wyvern is pronounced "why-vern"
You're correct, actually! I'll try to remember this for future videos.
100% a skill issue. You sent an untransformed raven off by himself into an area you knew you couldn't see. How can you not see how stupid that is. It's as if you're trying to fail.

For a strategy game where players can make bad calls or get outplayed by the enemy this is some wild logic.
