A great time period with very little professional footage. I put this together in chronological order, attempting to document this era with the best clips and songs available.
The other songs from MTV Live 96', and SNL 96' can be found elsewhere. I wanted to keep this to a "Live" feeling, with primarily concert footage.
Enjoy!
I really hope Soundgarden decides to release what I think is probably hundreds of live concerts that haven’t seen the light of day. It would be a shame to keep all of this on some shelf.
You're right!
Dude that footage of Searching With My Good Eye Closed..... oh my lord! Why in the holy mother of FUCK hasn't that *FULL CONCERT* ever been released! What the hell!
@@CMOYoung It was filmed as a small excerpt for documentary about the Seattle music scene called "Hype". Although i also fucking wish there is a full lenght concert film of that specific show haha. Here's the documentary ua-cam.com/video/C5AFs0RrGZI/v-deo.html
Vicki won't let them release anything right now unfortunately, $$$ hungry
It's the record label the one deciding
I still get goosebumps when Chris hits those howling high notes. Damn..... RIP Chris.

@@PetiteLibellule thanks!
Thanks for taking the time
The fact that Matt Cameron wrote the heaviest songs on the Superunknown album, shocks me damn good.
Ps. The songs he wrote are Mailman, Limowreck and 4th of July
He wrote the music for Mailman and Fresh Tendrils.
He co-wrote Limowreck while 4th of July was a Cornell song.
He also wrote Room a Thousand Years wide and Birth Ritual. Two of the heaviest soundgarden songs.
4th of July is 100% Cornells song tho.
Those are some of the best songs on the album
That version of Mailman is simply untouchable.
Chris was not only gifted, but one of the hardest working musicians ever in the business.
Why ?
@@doriang2220 Just my opinion, but if you look at his output through the years its substantial. Soundgarden and then his solo career, plus Audioslave. And that output is very high quality not just rubbish. I'd say he had quite a work ethic.
@@luvpants2012 True but I think when you are passionate like him it's "normal" to work as much. You just want to make beatiful things and it never leaves you.
@@doriang2220 I agree it does seem normal for him, his muse was very, very busy. An obsession.
@@luvpants2012 I suffer that same obession lol
best voice ever
Ever!!!
Maynard James Keenan enters the chat 😉
Miss this beautiful man with his beautiful voice and love for his fans. Rest In Power legend
It's just so HEAVY... It's perfect man...
I'm really high too...
Chris looked so young and healthy. His voice was amazing! ❤
30-32 years old & at the height of his powers. I was 18-20 & f'n worshiped him, lol!
Yeah hard to believe at 30 and-32 years old he could still hit those high notes. Awesome. Him and Layne best vocalists ever.
Greatest voice ever, some of the greatest musicians in one band, with songs that would not be forgotten. And no mobile recording from the audiece, back to the great 90ies :-)
Can we all appreciate his sense of humor in the "Reverse psychology. It works on anybody" moment? 4:02
That phrase was a part of '90s culture.
Miss this guy and his great music. Thank you Chris.
Really wish I could have been there. I wish I could have seen Soundgarden live, at their peak. I’m nineteen now, though...
I was your age in 1992 , when I first seen Soundgarden twice at Lollapalooza in Denver & Phoenix. They were a Phenomenal band! I wish they were still with us.
Miss this handsome guy , his fantastic voice and talent!!! What a band!!
Soundgarden were such a great band. all their songs are interesting and different. Chris Cornell was such an amazing singer. I discovered Soundgarden later, though I remember listening to them on the radio, growing up. I started to appreciate their music more as I got older. music like this is a treasure
The best version of Mailman. Great choice. Thank you for this video.
which one?
Which one again? There's two of them, one at MTV's Superunknown special and one at MTV Live and Loud
The fan's comment of Soundgarden and heaven captures their essence at 9:50 - I hope they get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Love you, Chris!
Mailman is unbelievable
Melhor banda, melhor letrista , melhor vocalista ......
I miss this man...
searching with my good eye closes just amazinggg
Is it to the sky?! 🤘🏼
The legend, the goat Mr Cornell
I saw them in 96' at Salt Air in Salt Lake City......just one or two concerts before they broke up. Kim gave me his cigarette at the end of their first set and his guitar at the end of their encore, but security took it away. Best concert I have ever been to.
20:18 what a singer
Yes, and not anywhere near the deserved recognition.
hell yeah. ... my fave band ... saw Soundgarden in june 2014 together with Black Sabbath here in Berlin /Germany .... R.I.P Chris Cornell
jesus christ, man. you have so much cool stuff I don’t even know where to begin. thank you
This helps make up for missing them in concert in the '90s. I listened to the album Superunknown for 2 weeks straight after I bought it. I could not get enough of it. its a surreal thrill to actually see the guitars they played in each associated song. To say those were great times would be an understatement. It was the best of times overall, culturally, socially, technologically, musically, spiritually, and religiously. Cool to see some of the video footage was shot on my birthday in 1994, June 26th. Coincidentally enough, this was about the same time I purchased the album. Only a few people know this, but August of '94 ushered in an intense spiritual revolution.
Thanks so much for sharing this. God bless you bro. I pray you have more. God I miss Chris Cornell so much. Ty.
They have to release a concert from he SU tour.
You have the best singer of all time in his prime....That has to be documented and put out there!!!
He was not in his prime during SU....but he was the best singer of all time imo. ToTD and BMF were prime Chris imo.
He was still totally in his prime in 94.
He just purposely wasnt singing and wailing as high as often and instead was more "roaring" with a deeper tone...Live he could still completely destroy songs like Beyond The Wheel....
Just go on youtube and listen to "I Awake" from 14-6-94..... Straight up and down incredible....
He just switched his style of singing up on Superunknown but he could still sing just like he did in 92 if he wanted to at that point. .
@@nickdamas2164 I just don't agree with you. That's OK. He had more control over his voice in 94,no doubt, but to my ear his tone, power and range were 91,92. By 98 on his solo record he had even more control imo. When I'm down is such a great example of a more mature Chris. It's all good. I love all the versions of his voice.
He is so talented

Thanks for sharing. It's Awesome. I Love and Miss you Forever Chris Cornell.♥😞♥😇😘
Thank you TheSteved111and UA-cam!! It is Easter and you have brought my heroes to life!! Rock On and Happy Easter🤟👍
I love this!!! Chris looks awesome and sings amazing!!!! ❤
Thanks for compiling this stuff. Just to point out though that the Top of the Pops footage was actually pulled from the North American tour in Jul/Aug. The band were due to play festivals in the UK and Ireland in late August but cancelled due to Chris blowing out his voice earlier that month.
'Burden in my hand' spettacolare. Soundgarden best band ever.
What does spettacolare mean?
@@matthewblackwood4704 spectacular😂
@@windyhead7960 👍😂
Thank you so much for this.
Nobody sounded like soundgarden.
This is pure GOLD!
Would be great if they put out like a dvd for live shows from the SuperUnknown and Down on the Upside era tours, thank you So much for this upload! Chris Forever! Long Live Soundgarden!!
I know we all love and admire Chris Cornell. However, all of a sudden this came to my mind: Matt Cameron is going to be really Really honored to say one day, that he was part of two of the most legendary bands of the 90s (and rock for sure), Soundgarden and Pearl Jam 😎
The fire and intensity of the SU era.
to the skyyyyyyyyyyyy
Fantastic work ! Thank you so much !
Great video this, thanks, hadn't seen a lot of this before. I was thinking recently how there wasn't a look of pro footage from 94 onwards.
Amazing. Thanks for this
Great job! Thanks!
Thanks TheSteved111! Saw them in 92 and 97. I wasn’t able to see superunknown . My friends said it was great and LOUD.
Thanks ever so much! Bless Chris forever.
Thanks
Brazil
Ah, love it! Superunknown es mi fave Soundgarden alb. Ah, mid 90s music scene. Ah! Rock out!
Cornell is the king
thank you
To me it is a mystery that we´re dealing with arguably the best rock singer ever, and so much stuff from Chris´ vocal absolute prime seems to be unreleased, while there are loads of recorded concerts or TV appearences where he was sick, in bad shape, or whatever other negative circumstance. It is really unexplainable.
Exactly! There's a 1994 London show that's just jaw dropping but the quality isn't that great. Another one is 1992 live in San Francisco-again with not so good quality.
@@windyhead7960 Thank you:) There's also the fabulous show in Berkeley, 1995, I think, with a performance that is so out of this world, especially "Room with a thousand years wide", that it's hard to believe. Then Oberhausen, but no un pro recording...It is indeed a mystery...
@@purpleman1974 Yes! I personally would trade all Audioslave live footage for 1994-1996 Soundgarden material. Also, there's a 1990 Temple of the Dog performance that's just amazing but again, poor quality.
I would love to be able to buy a collection of all their live songs, i have chris cornell deluxe on vinyl but thirst for more 🎉
I'm crying
Chris: Shhh'..
"It's reversed psychology,
Works everytime"

The vocals highlighted from these shows are killer!
Where has this been?
Thanks for sharing 🤗
hi The Steve. firstly thanks for putting this together! its really fuckin good, i know that would have been a bunch of work ..if possible can you please point me in the direction to find the concert footage at 16:55 to 20:41? was that an official? or television rip? thats some really great sound and footage right there.. anyways thanks again. M
milesvoodoo it's footage from the documentary Hype! About the burgeoning Seattle music scene and the band's that came from them. Hopefully Kim Thayil will release the full concert
I´d kill for a 2.08.94 Kawasaki, Japan FULL footage !
It’s completely amazing how much better chemistry Matt has here compared to Pearl Jam.
They must stifle his creative juices. It just isn’t the same quality. 😊
🔥 black hole sun - 20:44 🙏🏻
Fcking Greatness
I’ve never seen someone with such raw seemingly unintentional sex appeal. Ever.
16:55 🔥
They were fckn gigantic
Hottest man Alive. Chris Cornell 🦂 Fell on Black Days is one of my All time Favorite Songs Eva.......

Jesus
To sing like that, AND play a busy @ss riff at the same time.
10:00!!!
Chris Cornell 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😢😢😢😢😢😢😢🤘🏻👹🤘🏻
The Voice....Frank? Noooooo Criss of course....

The spirit that struggled in the capitalist United States. The spiritual leader has fallen. What is real philosophy for?
Always off pitch live in those days. Just awful
MAILMAN 😎🥃
