Wing Chun guy here 1) The lap sau is done well by Gojo here, but he mainly did it to circle around Sukuna. In Wing Chun by default, it is done by shifting the opponent off to disrupt their balance, so that the Wing Chun practitioner stays in place, like a hinge on a door. The hinge doesnt move when you push the door, you are moving the hinge by pushing the door. Again this is by default, when we have to side step or circle out it is fine because Sukuna has insane power. 2) The side palm Gojo uses is a straight line strike is taught in Wing Chun, but for me it is just a universal strike. Many arts have a low side palm. The anime shows a rising palm which is a legit palm strike, but its more for the chin strike or an arm break (Wing Chun is conceptual), it isnt ideal for a body strike because you would damage your wrist or fingers. Id rather punch or do a groin grab 😅. 3) Yep frame by frame the Gojo vs Miguel fight was inspired from that Ip Man fight.
the jjk author uses a lot of inspiration from iconic martial artists and martial art movies so gojo doing wing chun isnt out of the water. you will probably recognize a lot of stances and techniques in the later arcs with other characters as well. gojo been going crazy in the manga with his hand to hand combat and one of his fighting stances pretty much screams bruce lee 😂 this man was trained since he was a lil kid and is confirmed to be good at anything he puts effort into, that includes handling weapons as well. you remember the red three-sectioned staff they used a lot in s1 and movie? Gojos foot work is based off of boxing, boxing requires you to compact your torso, essentially glue your fists to your forehead whenever you aren't punching so your guard is already in place and keep your elbows tucked into your ribs to protect 90% of your centerline lowering your head in line with your center line, leaving only punching straight through your guard to the forehead maybe the nose or hooks around your guard, or maybe also direct hits. Straight shots to the gut where your abs are the strongest but that's what bobbing/weaving and contstant head movement is for. It's its all about playing your opponents' strengths off of your weaknesses and vice versa and say luring an inferior inside fighter to the inside where you the superior inside fighter can demolish him by tricking him into thinking you're an outside fighting who wants to keep him on the outside by feigning attempts at keeping the opponent on the outside working him until he steps exactly where you want him to then hit him with that Mike Tyson jump/90⁰ stance switch/side step with the life changing, career ending liver shot that comes with it. His footwork is based on American boxing he's so fluid, slightly crounched over, and is never off guard he's always in his t stance his footwork and weaving to a t is American boxing. It's also all about constant motion especially constant head movements so whatever or wherever the enemy is aiming at at the time they choose to throw a punch isn't what they'll be hitting when the punch actually arrives at the target location.
