Olivia is so beautiful and you are both doing so well. Mummy Lempies, please support her neck and back, she is only 2 months and she needs this support . It may seem like she is supporting herself but it is a strain on her. She could suddenly throw herself back and this is not good.
You will feel her getting stronger around 3.5 months, when she can support herself. Love you all

Hi Lempie, baby looks good. Sorry to hear that that she is refusing your breast milk because of yeast infection on the tongue. I just wish you had someone with experience around you to give you some useful tips/guidance. Parental skills are not born with. You learn them as you go, however, somethings can be avoided with a little guidance. Now she definitely did not get yeast infection from coming through the birth canal ( which can happen) because you had a c-section. Therefore I am inclined to think that it’s because her tongue has not been cleaned. A clean soft damp cloth is wrapped around one of your finger and you gently clean her tongue at least daily perhaps around bath time. It remove the whitish coating and essentially prevents the tongue from developing that white coating in the first place and subsequent discomfort which as you are learning affects feeding. You will see how it stays moist and pink, because it affects how the food taste even. Just as us adults clean the tongue when cleaning the teeth ( I might be assuming here), it impacts the taste of the food. Please I am in no wise criticizing, but I don’t like when people say the baby is beautiful , don’t worry. Yes she is beautiful, but the admiration doesn’t fix the problem. Each one teach one and when you can avoid a problem why not. A ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Also it is written “ a wise man listens to counsel “. No need for analyzing breast milk, it is not that serious. I’ll tell you what a lab instructor often told her class while we were training to be a nurse and was leaning how to use the ventilator and various other equipments, she said “never get so sophisticated that you bypass simple home remedies” and still today after some 30 years, it resonates with me. Stay safe and be very observant, you will be a pro by the 2nd one. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Spiritual Joy, you are living up to your online name. You have offered such sound advice without being condescending or passing judgment . I am a new mom myself. (Baby is 2.5 months) and family was not around the first 2 months so I tried to remember what my mom would do and I would apply it. Yes. I clean baby’s mouth but with a wet cotton wool daily. I should probably switch to muslin cloth.
      Thank you spiritual joy!!!

I just feel that every mother knows what is good for their child and oftentimes the general time frame of what each baby should be doing when and how does not apply to all babies. And as you noticed, the baby was well adjusted to how she was being held, her head was sturdy meaning that she is fine. I also find that it is very easy to give advice, but I have found that often times I should just trust that the person being advised knows what they are doing. We should put ourselves in the other person's shoes. Lempies has opened her life to us which I think is very brave considering the reaction she received after she posted feeding Olivia. Granted, she is set in her ways, but that does not give us the right to contribute in a way that will make her retreat from us. Let us be supportive, and if we have something to say, perhaps send a personal message through her personal Instagram messaging system. I am saying all this because I really felt for her the last time. And being a mother myself I know how painful it is when people who mean well give you feedback that makes you lose self confidence as a new mother. I say this with all due respect to you🙏🏽

Formula is fine, as long as she's eating. I hate when the medical community forces new moms the Breast Milk Cult! She apparently does not like the taste anymore and that's ok. The baby is running the show now, and her comfort is king. Relax mama..

Research and review your own diet to see if something you are eating is giving your milk a weird taste and inducing a reaction to Olivia's digestive system. Strong foods can do that...like garlic, cabbage, cruciferous vegetables, onions, etc. Good luck, stay strong, and connected with your baby. Auguri, ciao ciao.

    Hi Lempie
Thank you for being honest about the challenges that you are having as a new mum.
You will get there, so don’t be too hard on yourself. I picked up that your are tired and perhaps a little disappointed in yourself for not achieving full breastfeeding. Not all baby latch on and take to the breast especially if the mum is not relaxed and anxious. Someone recommended that you look at what you are eating and to try gripe water. This is a good idea if you haven’t done so already. Formula feeding is absolutely fine, so don’t be too hang-up about it. If baby is growing, thriving and gaining weight at the right pace then I think all will be well. It is good that you seek advice from the health care professionals. Don’t be pressured and distress because your lovely baby pick up on and will become unsettled and fretful. Lempie my dear- it would be a good idea if it is possible to invite your mum or a close caring friend or relative to come and stay with you, Ale and your lovely baby for a while to help and support you. I feel it for you. Take care of yourself my dear. I pray the grace and blessings of our awesome God will surround you and your family.🙏🏽💐

Hi Lempie I have experienced the same thing with one of my babies and it turned out that her tongue was tied, there is another name for it. So that prevented her from sucking rh breast but the bottle was fine because the whole made it easy for milk to flow out. This is something my husband had as a baby as well. I am from the Caribbean but had my baby in the US since I was living there for a few years. The doctors in at hw states didn’t pick it up but I did by examining the babies mouth. I took her to a dentist that confirmed it. When she was 8 mouths we clipped the tongue and she’s ok can suck on anything now. So the tied tongue if not addressed early will prevent her from sucking ice cream properly and make a mess on herself. Kissing when she’s older will be a big problem as well.
I don’t usually comment but you guys are lovely people that I just thought I should share this with.

Hi lempie , when my baby was about two months she cried so much , if I tell you right now that she would literally cry from 10 in the evening to 4am in the morning you would think I’m exaggerating, in between those hours she would only sleep fir like 20 minutes or less , by the way I only breastfeed her since birth .. it wasn’t even a thing her not wanting my milk but as she really ate so well , she never likes the bottle anyways wether I pumped my milk or formula, for some reason i found a solution took her to the doctor and she got some colic drops and it improved, that’s my experience, all the best with Olivia ❤️

Lempie, You are a new mother try not to be to worried , as long as Olivia is getting fed with the formula she will be fine stop worrying over breast milk , i have had three children and the youngest is forty yrs. and all my children were on formula. don,t take it as a bad thing . You are a good mother you are doing the best for your child. Try to get some rest when you can . and stop over thinking the milk,

  • @V100-e5q
    @V100-e5q 3 роки тому +4

As an engineer I would try to eliminate all other factors. Like the apparatus you are using to pump the milk.
But as a first test I would try the milk and formula myself and give it a taste comparison test.
Then I would send the formula through the whole apparauts for milk pumping and try it on the baby.
Perhaps you can get milk from the breast without the apparatus into the same bottle you prepare and or feed formula with?
This would cut out influence from materials in the apparatus or cleansing chemicals you use on it but not the formula vessels.

Aaaaw! Olivia is so beautiful. How lovely to see you with Olivia being comforted by her mama and hanging onto your every word. 🙄💝 . Each and every day as Olivia develops she becomes aware just as you also become aware of her personality and understanding whether she is out of character. Your precious Olivia is unique with her personality and her little feeding ways. As long as she is not losing weight and does not have any infection as examined by the midwife, doctors etc then try to enjoy her personality. When my baby in his 3rd week had white on his tongue (42years ago🙄) my nurse told me to wrap a little muslin on my clean little finger add a few drops of glycerine on the muslin and swipe his tongue with it. Of course it was tricky to do but it worked. I will keep in touch. Love and blessings👏👏💝

Hi Lempie , what you going through is common nowadays , I relate it to food tht might change the taste of your milk . So due to taste the only thing that could have kept her taking breast milk is the bond development during feeding contact on breast . The bottle itself is not natural, so it cuts off that bond. Nowadays if the baby starts to refuse breast milk , she will no longer likes it take it. I know how frustrating but it's her choice. Keep on try but don't even try to starve her to get her taking breastfeed milk. Not every child are enjoying breastfeed because some can start refusing at early weeks or months after birth. Some may be like breast milk and few months after introduce to powder milk they make start to choose ( powder or breast milk). Just be strong, accept and support his choice. It's normal.

Perhaps with a milk donation, tests will be performed and then you may know what is irritating your Little Sweetie. Milk banks analyze the milk or even have a sample analyzed at an independent lab. Is that easy where you are? There is a lactationlab.com in the US that has home testing kits (856-522-4357). Perhaps this organization can help you find an equivalent in your country. Is their a La Leche League in Europe? This organization may also help. I hope you find answers... 💖

Curious myself to solve this mystery, Lempie. Process of elimination is the easiest solution or backtracking your lifesteps. So 1st: Your pump could have bacteria or cleaning soapy residues. Test her on a simple brand new easy-to-use & easy to sterilize breast pump. Let Olivia taste test the fresh milk from this-not frozen/refrigerated. Also check your meals & their timing, Did it change? Is it more acidic or gaseous (on your end) due to dietary changes like beans or cruciferous vegetables sometimes produce gases, as well as skipping your regular meal time - breakfast being the most important for nursing moms. Next, why not try a lab privately if the above reaps no answers. Do you have a private lab you can send your breast milk sample to and pay for testing? Or do you have a chemist friend from your university years who can test it? Perhaps an allergy to the frozen milk vs fresh, if using older milk. Also check your health thoroughly, do you have a yeast infection, acidity, or any health changes that could have changed your milk? Last suggestion: Monitor yourself, incl. stress levels by meditating & getting sunny walks with baby, self-monitor as well as professionally monitor your health for Covid19, flus, temperature, ph balance. That's All I've got for now. Oh, Yes you definitely mustcclean baby's tongue with soft warm cloth gently wiping forward at bath time daily. Not sure how Paediatrician missed this instruction to both of you, or the Baby Care books on preventing yeast. She can get yeast infections above & below from ph imbalance in your diet/stress levels. Hope it helps. Good Luck!. Good on You to have the Formula as Back Up.

I see her holding the baby, but I haven't seen any cuddling or eye contact or cooing. At the beginning of this video, Lempie looks very stiff holding the baby and the baby doesn't look comfortable. Contrast that with the way Ale holds Olivia and interacts with her. He seems to be quite comfortable bonding with her. Maybe doing a video is stressing Lempie, and things are more warm and cuddly when the camera is off.

Hi Lempie. I know how frustrating it is to have a baby refuse breastmilk. But you also don't have to worry too much as baby Olivia is taking formula quite well. She will pick up her weight in no days. I mean formula is there to rescue in such cases. What matters now is that she is at least taking it. Seat back and enjoy your baby. Can be a bit draining at some point.i hope she has no gas trapped in her system, coz it also gives too much of a discomfort and baby will just not stop crying.

Have the doctor check your milk for bacteria that could be affecting your baby. Also if the baby is getting yeast infection in her mouth, make sure that you’re disinfecting her bottles properly. You may be eating something that is causing allergic reaction to her. You have to be very careful with your newborn. Don’t give her that milk until you found out what’s wrong with your milk. Yes, breast milk is best for the baby, but if your milk is making her sick, you shouldn’t give it to her.

Hi Lempies, ..Olivia is so cute, Sometimes babies cry during or right after breastfeeding,, it quite possible be gripe/gas. , try stopping in between her feeding and burp her , and then resume when she’s burp, that way you’ll have a better analysis of the situation. Take care of your baby my dear lady.. iTunes can wait 💕

I had somewhat of a similar experience with my little one and it turns out what I was eating with definitely affecting her by causing a lot of gasiness which can be painful to an infant. So I had to make sure that I was eating all my meals on time, no takeout food, cut out dairy products (specifically cow) as well as some other dietary adjustments. So my advice would be just to monitor the types of food that you're eating make sure that they're not food that can cause gasiness and keep it as healthy as possible

It is still not clear why you can produce/pump but not feed at the breast. Really wish you had a good midwife or experienced person to help you through this.
