  • I was rejected from business school, what now? Bad news is never easy, but whether you're ready to jump straight back in to the MBA application process (MBA programs love reapplicants!) or take some time to work out what to do, we're here to help you get through it.
Weirdly, maybe even horribly, sometimes being rejected can be a good thing. It never feels like that, but somewhere out there is a business school that's a perfect fit for you and it could be that you didn't find it in time to apply last round.
Whatever the reason is, we hope you are able to process it in good time, and wish you all the best with whatever you choose to do next!

fun fact: not applying for MBA but I believe a friend of mine stumbled across their news too. If I never had such encounter, I may have not seen this video. Thank you for sharing your story, thoughts and solutions to how to push forward during and after the challenging times. It is indeed the reaction we need to control to such situation. I'll subscribe and like the video because I sure hope you help many more in your adventures.
Hopefully the UA-cam algorithm will do its thing to put that out there too! Anyhow, have a lovely and awesome day and thank you again for sharing. It's been a pleasure

This is a lovey video - I think the biggest thing to realise is the oversupply of quality applicants relative to demand for the top programs.
I am somewhat cynical on the ‘fit’ discussion however - I think the tough reality is most applicants would feel they fit in just fine at HBS or Wharton versus say Ross or Kellogg but it’s a competitive process and you need to be honest with yourself about that.

Completely agree with this comment!! That is why Reason #2 is really about being a competitive enough candidate for the school based on statistics and career progress. But school fit is a very widely misunderstood topic. Most candidates think of fit as "am I good enough for that school." But it has nothing to do with that. Fit has to be perceived from the school's perspective (not just the candidate's). Showing fit in the application includes everything from researching the school well enough, networking with students and alums, being able to speak credibly about how you will participate on campus and leverage recruiting opportunities that school provides, showing the proper values through your interpersonal communication (essays and interview) all the way to subtle nuances like your communication style. HBS is a perfect example. The case method of instruction requires each student to 1. be able to teach themselves the content based on almost zero instruction and leveraging past knowledge of business (those will no business education or experience will really struggle with this) and 2. be able to compete in a highly cutthroat class participation environment where your grade is 80% based on in-class comments. Most people don't think about this when they evaluate whether they would fit at HBS. And most people haven't developed their business communication skills to the point where they could participate in such an environment successfully while also learning and enjoying it. If you applied to schools, I'm hoping it works out for you!!! But school fit is a highly specific and important aspect of this process to be taken seriously, especially if attempt 1 is unsuccessful. Best of luck!!!

@@CareerProtocol Thank you for the reply. As an aside, a video on scholarship negotiation would be very helpful. Best,
