    Can ossification of lateral epicondyle be the cause of lateral elbow pain? And mimic as TE ?

  • @salahhima322

    Thank you for the great information you are providing. May i know, are you referring to muscles when saying lateral elbow instability ? Also, what are the golden signs of ligamen injury ?

    • @ClinicalPhysio
      @ClinicalPhysio  Рік тому

      Hi! Referring to ligament instability rather than muscular instability - most common signs is clicking or feeling of instability when pushing through weight bearing arm from 30° flexion to full extension

    • @salahhima322
      @salahhima322 Рік тому

      @@ClinicalPhysio Would clicking be "an always" complaint for the patient or only on the onset ? also, may i know why does patient reports clicking or slipping, how to explain this sensation in relation to the condition ? also, why does instability occurs from 30-full extension ? I wish you have the time to address these question and thank you for the wonderful information you are providing

    1 thing I am surprised wasn't brought up (although debatable as it is a form of arthritis) is Gout. I say this because for just over 8 months now I have had tennis elbow type pain in my dominant arm yet with additional issues like unable to grip, unable to carry weight/items feeling like they are twice as heavy, pseudoparalysis, unable to straighten my arm and I have developed a bruise-like mark. I'm not asking for any diagnosis as my GP is having regular reviews but from a recent x-ray there is zero damage or infection yet I have a high uric acid result of 566 so now on uric acid reducing meds. My GP is sure it is gout although no physical signs apart from what I mentioned and quite tender to touch. In May when I had physiotherapy I was told it seems like either tennis elbow, radial nerve damage and that my arm seemed like it was in a state of guarding from further injury. I did have an ultrasound of which a GP has stated that it was inconclusive even though it mentioned tendonosis and I have an upcoming orthopaedic consultant appointment but after just over 8 months I am now getting a similar ache in the opposite elbow from over-compensating for the affected side. I know from my own research gout in the elbow is quite uncommon but I did also have a fairly bad bout of covid last year too along with a 2nd bout this time last year and Hep E at the start of summer

      did you ever end up figuring out what this was? was it gout?

    • @GavinColbourne
      @GavinColbourne 4 місяці тому

      @@ddrj807 yes through blood tests to detect my plasma urate (uric acid) levels and it was high. Normal range according to my Dr should be less then 320 U/L yet mine was almost 600 U/L and thanks to medication it is down to under 250U/L and gout related pain has almost gone. However I have found that I also had a secondary issue with my arm relating to symptoms similar to Radial Tunnel Syndrome of which I have an orthopaedic surgeon appointment next week for further tests. The strength in my affected arm has weakened to the point that a 4Kg dumbell feels more like 8Kg

    I have pain around there but nothing you pointed out rings a bell to me.., yet something does: if i try to locate the lateral epycondile well that seems pretty far back.. almost to the back of the arm.., my pain is close but more on the top of the arm. even if i touch directly the lateral epycondile and a few millimiters aroundf i feel no pain yet i do feel pain at touch at another junture a few centimiters more on top of the arm..,where the upper and the lower arm join.. i hope i expressed myself correctly.. ,any idea?, advise?..

    Hello, I have had wrist extension weakness for 6 months or so. Sometimes it gets a little better but then flares up. I am a delivery driver so lots of overuse and twisting and gripping. I think I may have tennis elbow and radial tunnel issues. The muscles sometimes spasm when using them and tire easily. What dyou think is going on? What can I do?

      Hi! I would absolutely recommend that you see someone personally about this such as Dr or Physio as it would be very wrong of me to diagnose over the internet!

    About 3 weeks ago my right elbow started clicking (on the outside of my elbow close the Etensor Carpu Ulnaris) all of a sudden when i was doing over head tricep extensions with a 40lbs weight (using both hands). It didn't hurt at all, but I did stop after a few reps due to the jarring clicking it made. I also decided to wait 3 weeks before working out again (everything except pushing exercises since it starts to feel uncomfortable, almost like it wants to hurt). It does seem to have improved slightly, although it continues to click when i bend my arm. And the spot i feel the click is exactly in the meaty portion between the Lateral Epicondtle and the Olecranon. I think it maybe a tendon of the actual tricep thats my issue? (This has never happened to me before or any kind of elbow pain)
