I visited that chip shop last year & imo it's the best fish and chips I've ever had I travelled 2hours for it and I can't wait to go back to try it again!
I travelled over 6 hours for it and best believe i would go back anytime. That’s how good it was. And their chips are amazing as well 😊… Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Glad i found this hidden gem
You often see ice cream and fish and chips in the same establishments in Scotland, and it’s because the chippies were often run by Italians who came over before the first world war.
Recently I visited another fish bar along the road in Anstruther- The Wee Chippy. Beautiful place. You should have taken a walk up the pier to the Lighthouse 👍
We have some good fish and chips in Australia, but i always love seeing different versions from around the world. The fish looked awesome. Thanks for sharing .
I used to go to Anstruther a lot as a kid, my grandad would do a lot of fishing and my gran would cook it up in the caravan, will need to visit again and have the chippy as an adult
I wish you got a haggis supper, it is my favourite! Oh and you should try a pizza crunch while in Scotland, not for the taste, just the novelty value 😂
Pizza crunch? Never heard of that. Next time i’m down there i 💯will… I wish i tried haggis as well. I don’t understand how i was in Scotland and I didn’t try haggis tbh
Have yet to try haggis as well 🙃 Wonder if I can find it in Canada. I feel like haggis is tied with "legendary status" beside ~`neeps and tatties`~ in how I'd rank the savory spectrum of Scottish cuisine. Had a laughing fit over it at one point. But no, jokes aside, definitely wish the world didnt look down on things like blood and offal and like fish eyes - my mum always used to savor them after frying some tilapia; then again I'm just an outsider who happens to like the bits about cooking and cuisine in Monarch of the Glen (in season one :P which is all I know... also a lowkey Limmy / Brian Limond fan).
@@FoodieMeatsFood Pizza crunch is a piece of pizza that’s been coated in batter and deep fried. It’s usually done with those really cheap frozen pizzas, which sounds awful, but it is the best thing to do with those pizzas, because the frying brings out the sweetness of the tomato sauce and the flavour of the herbs.

That's a 5 hour drive for me but not the first time we've done Scotland for a chippy tea , normally stick to the lowlands then we can do it in a day 😁

Pretty sure they don't brine or smoke the fish. It possibly arrives at the market already filleted ON the ship. However, it IS haddock so probably from Scottish fishing boats +1 😀👍.
@@FoodieMeatsFood There's no cod caught or landed on British boats anymore so I have to agree, but I prefer the taste of cod. Different strokes for different folks. I agree with your comment, they are overpriced as well! The Wee Chippy a few hundred metres along the road to the left is probably better but they don't rave about it. There are many excellent fish & chip shops throughout Fife.
@FoodieMeatsFood Valentes. Overton Road Kirkcaldy. The bonless Icelandic haddock supper is my favourite. Also, the wee chippy along from the overrated, overpriced chippie is good. Thank you 😊 it definitely went beyond expectations. I noticed a lot of people were getting ice cream from there too!!
Are the chips there cooked in Lard or Vegetable oil?
Not sure tbh!
I think they're cooked in Beef Dripping. My late mother's cousin manufactures the beef dripping in Leven just a few miles south of Anstruther.
